The popping is from the pair valve, a scavenging system that links the airbox to the exhaust. You can get a blocking plate(s) to stop it. Had the same thing on my GSXR1000R after a tune and full exhaust. Rumours went around that someone was shooting at me ha ha. I got rid of the noise because it ended up driving me nuts! It will end up blowing your muffler packing out quicker than normal but doesn't hurt the engine. My FI light comes on from a weak battery too!

I did the PAIR valve blockoff on my Ninja 500 and that MADE it start popping awesomely on the decel. Coffman slip on and new stacks and all the upgrades helped too.

If you enjoy any sort of aggressive riding the ZX6 will be a lot more fun for you. Ninja 650s are a bit more comfortable for longer rides but the fun factor doesn’t compare at all to the inline 4 cylinder bikes.

Stock on paper the ZX6R makes the same HP as my 2024 Street Triple 765RS. I’m hoping when tuning becomes available that I can hit those speeds on my bike. Currently when I hit 130 it slows down and struggles above 145 and does nothing at 149.

My 22 street triple is dynod with a full exhaust, filter and stacks. I hit the top of 6th at 152 relatively fast. I think if I threw a smaller rear sprocket it would go 158ish

Despite the actual numbers not showing much the tunes really wake these bikes up a lot. Especially if you have a header (or cat delete) and velocity stacks etc. The decel pops actually got annoying for me after a while though. I ended up eventually removing the smog pump crap and leaving turning the injectors back off on decel to get rid of all the popping off.

That’s on the high end of power for a 600. And yeah, there’s not that big of a difference with 36 cc but you’re not gonna see any real horsepower over 120 some serious engine mods.
