Thanks for the reaction!! And yes, I agree; that is how I felt with the whole battle thing. I couldn’t afford not to make a battle move because it’s a point that I lose and I had to do something haha. With my battle move I say that Den “uses the same chord progressions,” but it isn’t entirely true; I had to find a little “flaw” in his beatbox, but it is tough to do so because he is super talented and he is a great songwriter… Also, thank you for the feedback regarding the audio 💙

Hey man, you can be proud of what you accomplished in this competition. You entertained us and brought a message with you and it resonated with people and that's why you made it to the semis. Regardless of the outcome you still did your thing and hats off to you and all the competitors for putting on a good show.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah it’s a bit unfortunate that it was a point for this format but overall I’ll say you did a great job of trying to be creative in the way you approached that point! Love the honesty around the struggle of finding a “flaw” it’s something I always wonder, is it better to bring up a “weak” flaw if you don’t have a “big” flaw to attack or not say anything at all? As always love the tracks you’ve put out and hope you’ll continue!

I absolutely love Den's round. He opened up and decided to just go hard af in this one. Considering that, I'm always mesmerized by Jordox's rounds. He's conceptually such a pleasant and unique talent to listen to and I love his ideas. Super cool stuff. I definitely know what you mean in terms of the battle moves. It feels a little forced, but really when you look at it the battle points have almost had no impact because hardly anyone has gotten them due to the fronts just not being that impactful or well integrated. This was a great battle and I had no idea who really Jordox was before the BBU and I love this guy now.

When jordox falls back into the water it could be seen as him washing the "blood" he shed away after doing the battle move against den.

I think Den won pretty clearly for me. Some of it is definitely style preference which is always a factor in these battles. I think that Den's structure is a huge point in his favor I don't think it comes up as it isn't a point in the battle. His structure is so tight the way the different parts flow into each other and build up and payoff are so consistent in this, and all his rounds. In movie terms he has excellent pacing. With Jordox it sometimes feels like sitting in a car with someone braking and accelerating erratically. Dens round sets the pace and vibe in about 5 seconds and keeps it going through the whole round. You can even watch your reaction and see he has you going from start to finish. I think all of Den's rounds have that consistency even though the genre or style changes round to round. It feels like a track not a collection of beatbox vignettes. Love your reactions btw :)
@Dysexlic2 жыл бұрын
Love the metaphor makes a lot of sense, I think stopping and starting erratically is a bit extreme but does a good job getting the point across and I can see where you’re coming from for sure!

Maybe a bit more true for this specific song though since he has a couple different “parts” of the song for sure with the counters
@theoinkinator85662 жыл бұрын
@@Dysexlic Yeah I agree it is not quite so jarring. I think the Idea of beatbox vignettes feels more accurate. I think that is Dens big advantage on Hiss if they end up battling in the finals is that everything Hiss puts out is good but his more recent rounds feel like semi-unique pieces played back to back. In particular the end of flip, though very good felt out of left field. I think Den is the only contestant that could make a "real music" version of all of these songs release it as an album and have it feel totally natural

I loved both of these rounds. I love how both of them weren't hyperfocused on "battling" and more so just making nice music. I personally liked den's "more", but that's mostly because I used to listen to a lot of edm and dubstep and it's been a solid while since I was listening to beatboxing and was like "dang this FEELS like dubstep/edm" (rather than "this SOUNDS like edm/dubstep" which happens really often). The amount of stuff going on at once and the stark contrast between deep inward bass alternating with delicate high falsetto notes made me nostalgic, so I enjoyed den's slightly more than jordox's. That said, I think it's nice that you pointed out the oddity of the battling aspect of this competition because it often times felt really forced in the rounds, or at the very least it felt like it was consistently chosen at the expense of making the song sound better and be something you could KEEP listening to rather than just a disposable beat. That's something I partially disliked in Jordox's round, which is unfortunate because as he said, he's just trying to make good music and the requirement of some kind of somewhat random diss just for the sake of hostility doesn't really seem to fit his style (which is 0% a problem with him, I'd rather listen to a song WITHOUT random attacks than one WITH them). Overall, I'd totally listen to both rounds on repeat (and den's IS on spotify so I'll be doing that). I feel like den wins but I REALLY dislike HOW it feels like he won. To me I feel like the way this tournament was held promoted random hostility instead of making really nice music for people to get hyped about. Regardless of what happens here, I'm glad that in this round I was able to finally hear more of Jordox's musicality. I don't really care much about battling or beef or stuff like that, because at the end of the day I'm just here for good music. So in my book, Jordox and Den are cut from the exact same cloth (great musician's who make nice music) but are just cut from different sides (the styles they individually have). Overall, for me, this round has definitely not been the most enjoyable from a hype standpoint, but it's easily the most enjoyable from a music standpoint. I'm here for the replay value, and both of these rounds are easy additions to a playlist. Regardless of who "wins", I'm glad that by the end of this competition I've been introduced to 2 amazing musicians that I wouldn't have heard about if it weren't for this. So I supposed in the end the competition did kinda do what it was made to, which is show more talent to the world.

I love reading all the different reason for people feeling the way they do so reading this was lots of fun! I completely agree that this tourney is better suited for music that I’ll listen to on repeat and seeing who made it this far it seems pretty clear that’s true, it’s nice to have a competition where that shines as opposed to gbb where hype is king!

I think it's close but not that close, Den has this for sure. Jordox round was artistic and had cool moments but it focused more on the visuals than the beatbox. It's hard to understand the meaning of his track, there is no clear direction, the beatboxing itself is a bit basic, nothing crazy and the transitions aren't that smooth so it feels like different parts rather than a connected piece. Den on the other hand put out another banger. The lyrics are clear, the drum n bass is new from him and the style is great for a battle round, it's super easy to listen to and very catchy, and has a lot of great convos. He is using a formula for making beatboxing as if it were an actual song, and although this may not be revolutionary, the way he is able to perform and make these work is really incredible. His musicality is second to none. At this point in the beatbox scene it is just a preference of styles, but I think if you want to listen to someone's track over and over again, then that's the winner.

IMO both were great and I'm glad I don't need to decide the winner. I like the style from JordoX cuzz it's different, he has his own unique design and I love it. I am team Den and I love his style the same way. What I like the most about Den is how he manages technical part with musical, it's just amazing cuzz not many beatboxers can do this, either only technical or only musical but not both at the same time, For me it was a close battle almost like 50:50 and if someone would point a gun at my head and question me which one to decide I would say Den with a minimal advantage :-D

Glad to see you're sticking up for your opinion. At the end of the day, you like what YOU like. As for this battle, for me it's a landslide victory for Den. Jordox's round.. I can't put my finger on it fully.. It feels out of time without really being out of time. Also, I agree with the jarring sounds from bad EQ. The end of Jordox's round drags on, and while impressive, feels out of place, and still just not enough "WOW" to impress me more than the things Den does. In all honesty, without even looking at Den, I felt like this round wasn't even on the same level as his round vs Madox, and that's leaving out the fancy animation part. Finally, looking at the battle moves.. Jordox's front was good. I definitely had an "oh shit" moment, but with how the rest of the round felt for me, I could tell it wouldn't be enough. Then you watch Den's round. It's DnB, which Den hasn't really done before (at least not for us all to see), with a different tempo and feel than anything he's done before. He basically crumpled Jordox's attack and threw it in the trash like a piece of paper. There were no noticeable timing/pitch errors, and the EQ was fine. There were no dull moments through the entire round as well. Den's attack, while funny, wasn't really that great of a battle move. He just calls Jordox out for being unknown, which is literally every new beatboxer. When I watched yesterday, I was so hyped from how good Den's video was, that I was giving him every point, but looking back on it today, I don't feel either gets the battle point on this one. Jordox made a better attack, but Den cancelled it with his round. The video was great for both, though for me, Den's was better. Similar to what I said before, Jordox's last video was SOOO much higher quality than what we got this time, so I was struggling to make sense with this video. While Den's video seems better quality than his own previous videos, which weren't bad to begin with.

Thanks for the reply! Far more analytical than I got lol, it’s funny how much opinions change after listening a second/third/etc listen, as I’ve listened more times I can for sure see that this is more den favored than I originally felt, however the point of my reactions is less about analyzing within the scoring of the competition and more just how I felt listening and I still have them close on that but with the other categories I see den taking this for sure.

@@Dysexlic Thanks to you as well! My opinion is still Den by a landslide. It just wasn't a "flawless victory", like I had initially thought. Also, I've been following beatbox for quite a long time now, so I have lots of insight on the subject.

@@SerialNightmare I agree with one of the first parts of your analysis where you say think jordox is missing that ‘WOW’ factor in either the last battle or one before that I also made a comment saying I’m struggling to find the wow factor although great video , sound quality etc ..

Dens round is incredible, but honestly, jordox's round spoke to me. "I'm just here to express my soul But you just wanna see blood". Those lyrics felt like a confrontation with the audience in a way i didn't think possible. And the falling into the water almost felt like him cleansing himself of of the "blood" he spilled on the earlier battle move. Man's really pushing the artform

I feel exactly what you saying about Jordox, for me especially the whistle sound was hitting waaaay to high and loud and was really unpleasant to my ears. DEN totally destroyed it. His whole road was fire. I was getting stank face that I usually never do... that's how good it was.
