I had a chance to be diagnosed earlier on but my school was garbage so I didn't get proper acknowledgement. Not only did I not get help but they actively prevented me from getting any help when it was obvious that I needed help. They used stupid excuses like it wouldn't be fare to the other kids for me to get printed notes or assignments adjusted to help me actually learn. I moved around to different schools a lot but none of the other schools had an idea of the issues. Most of the other alternative schools were so reading heavily which is one of the things I struggled with the most. So I'm pretty sure my grammar is still terrible but going back and looking at it now is still a struggle and gives me those sinking feelings all over again. So now that I actually know what the deal is I'm looking into it. It makes me really want to help people like me even though I still haven't got myself the help I need yet because of how much of a struggle it all has been.

I wish it was mandatory for schools in the US to make you take a test for dyslexia in First or Second grade, i didn’t find out until two years ago in 9th grade… My academic carrier would be extremely different if i had known from early. Ever since second to 10th grade my grades were always rock bottom and i struggled on school especially with Math and anything reading related.

You can be all that and be great at them. Just calm down. Work on the anxiety you have around Dyslexia. I bet the reason you are embarrassed/anxious is because of society’s negative view. Dyslexia is just another way of learn, so find and embrace your own way. Also, practice intentional journal everyday. A good writer, writes often about and everything that comes to mind, then they decide which one they want to share. So start journaling daily. Good luck.

Hey people, I want to share a story with you all.. so few years back a 7 year old girl came to me for tuitions.. basically her mother forced her to do that.. first few weeks she didn't like me at all.. she had zero interest in studies.. she had a problem in reading and writing.. but she never admitted that to anyone.. her mother used to beat and scold for her behaviour.. she never played with her friends in school... So 1day her mother came to me nd said that she got zero in Every subject.. I was worried cause I never dealt with such situation like this before.. every student of mine they are pretty good in studies..that time i had no idea what to do..but deep down I knew I had to do something.. though I am not a doctor..but i tried to find solution..i searched on the internet about this then i asked few of my doctor friends about this.. but all of them suggested me to consult a councillor.. but that process was very expensive for that family.. so me nd her mother tried new things for her... 1st i tried to be friends with her.. i used to tell her stories and showed her few cartoon videos on my computer.. after few days she started sharing things.. then i started new methods like writing on sand( found videos on KZbin) writing on floor with chalk, alphabet puzzle games etc.. she used to type sentence on my computer.. each day after my class I used to save extra time for her.. i played with her did absolutely everything whatever I felt like is going to help her.. and in this process her mother helped me a lot.. she was patient and calm.. and after 2years of struggle finally our hard work paid of.. she got 67% in 4th standard.. and now she's in 6th standard.. she faced a lot in school and in other places too.. but now she can read and write properly.. she takes part in writing competition in school.. though the result of the competition doesn't matter to us.. what matters the most is her self confidence.. she is confident enough to face any challenges now I guess.. and yes she still comes to me for tuitions everyday..now we both are like sisters.. she call me didi.. after class we still play with sand and puzzle.. So all I wanted to say to all the people whoever reading this please be patient with your child, every child is different, if you are a well to do person or can bare the expenses then go for counseling and if you are not the try method at home.. I'm sure it'll work.. ❤️❤️

I feel left out. I put myself down. Belive that im nothing. Then I hear others on KZbin be saying oh we are smarter. .... I dont see it. Its not fun and I wish I wasn't born with it. I love reading writing letters and cross words.maths very basic can't .follow a map No sense of direction always getting lost As a child slow to tie shoe laces colour in . Both fine and gross motors skill were crappy, still are. I can not explain why I struggle in all these areas but don't have dyslexia. I have a 9 year old sister that is having trouble understanding some words, learning new topics, and I've also noticed that she really gets frustrated by this because she really wants to learn and understand. She tells me that she easily forgets stuff and she is having trouble understanding their lesson. I have been trying my best to help and understand her but sometimes we both just get frustrated on how it goes. I really wanna help my sister, we just recently been orphaned since our mother died last year and we don't get support from our dad. I'm also still studying and my time is split between helping my siblings and working on my responsibilities in supporting our small family financially. Can I get tips or some methods on how I can improve helping my sister with her studies and on how I can better understand her? She is also very good in drawing and pretty much doing art but when it comes to tough subjects like math or language it is hard for her.

Hi, Your sister might have ADHD/ADD, my sister has it aswell. If it seems like she can't concentrate but can absorb the information and can't pay attention it's probably ADHD/ADD. If it is dyslexia she would probably only have problems with reading words and pronouncing words to the point if it's severe enough she would not be able to read at all or very minimally. But from the sounds of it if she is having trouble with all subjects its probably something other than dyslexia. Hope this helps!

@adunahanfamily It sounds like you're going through a realization, and it’s important to acknowledge your feelings. If you’re referring to something related to your health or emotions, it's great that you've identified it, but remember that seeking support from a professional or talking to someone you trust can really help. You’re not alone, and there are always ways to get support and find guidance on your journey. Take it one step at a time.

I dont like how this video has presented dyslexia as a disease. There is no cure or treatment
@MedicalCentric4 ай бұрын
Dyslexia is a learning difference, not a disease, and it's important to approach it with an understanding that it involves challenges in reading, spelling, and writing, rather than something that needs to be "cured." While there's no cure for dyslexia, various strategies and interventions, such as specialized teaching techniques and tools, can help individuals with dyslexia succeed in their learning environments. It's crucial to view dyslexia as a different way of processing information rather than a defect, and to support those with dyslexia by emphasizing their strengths and providing appropriate resources.
