Dyson DC17 Brushbar and Filter Replacement

This video shows you how to replace the brushbar, belt, and filters in a Dyson DC17 upright vacuum. The process should be similar for other Dyson uprights.

Great video with good detail. My only question is regarding the belt you ordered. From my research, I found there are two different belts available for the DC17. The one you used (part #911710-02) is 8mm and is for the DC17 with a clutch. The one we use (part #911710-01) is 10mm and is for the non-clutch DC17. Our DC17 is identical to yours. If your DC17 is for all floor types, then it is non-clutched. If it is for carpets only, then it is the clutch version.

Before replacing the belt, I have found that I needed to use a tweezers or needle nose pliers to clean out hair that has gathered on that shaft.

If it is just to replace the belt, then I can do a closeup showing how to replace the belt. If it is to replace the motor, then that is a different, and more complex job. Thank You! My vacuum works so much better now!! Have you worked on the Dyson cordless V7? My shuts off after a 10-30 secs even on a full charge. Typically when using max suction.

My Dyson DC17 animal has a side filter but does not need screws. Might be same model but maybe made 1 or 2 years after this model and the side filter also is a tad bit smaller I think.
