I have the exact vacume that you have and it did come with all kinds of booklets/pamphlets. Somehow yours were missing which is too bad. It explains pretty much all that you spoke about. I’ve had mine for about 7-8 months and I’m very pleased with it. For a woman though, I find it a bit heavy on my arm, but all in all, it’s good. I can’t believe the dirt and dust we pick up with it. It’s almost embarrassing to see all that it picks up, that’s how wonderful it is. Love it so far. Can’t believe I waited this long to get one. Amazing vacuum and easy enough to clean it. Thanks for the in depth features and info you showed us. Great job. Probably the best one I’ve seen so far, so thanks for that. Very well explained.

I bought a Dyson V11 in Feb 2020 for over a $1000 Canadian. Quite a hefty price tag for a vacuum.! At first it worked ok but I have had a great deal of issues in the last two months. I am very disappointed in the quality of the parts. The parts are weak. My trigger/switch broke. At first I thought I wasn't pressing it down properly but eventually it got to a point where I couldn't get it to work at all. So I contacted Dyson and they told me that the warranty period was just over. I asked them if the issue could be fixed and they said I'd have to replace the motor and cyclone. This would have cost several hundred dollars. But they didn't even have the parts in store. So after sale service is poor as well! I told them that I was disappointed in the service and the best they could offer me is that they too are disappointed that they couldn't help me at that time. My son in law looked it up on the internet and found out that this is a common problem. He was able to order me the trigger/switch (for less than $20) and he replaced it for me. Why can't they partner with some vacuum repair business in the various major centres so they get the basic training for repairing the vacuum for much less than replacing whole units of the vacuum? It's also not good for our environment to throw out whole units when a much smaller part can be used the fix the issue.

I agree 100% Mine lasted just 18 months. Maybe it is my trigger switch. I cleaned filter and it never would turn on again. I bought new battery and filter and didn't work. I then took it to a local vacuum sales and repair store. They were aware of problems with that model. There was no help whatsoever from Dyson. I paid d$60 for them to clean and see if they could repair. In advance they did tell me that they have done before for Dyson owners and that it was a 50/50 chance if that that they would be able to get it working again. Apparently a fairly common issue. Bow I have to pay hundreds more for a new head which I have already wasted so much money. DYSON customer service leaves alot to be desired. No help at all except to take more money just to have a working vacuum which I NEVER WOULD HAVE bought in the first place if I knew it would last only 18 months 😢

I love my V11 vacuum BUT it would be so much better if you didn't have to hold the trigger button constantly. Other stick brands you don't need to hold the trigger. Also, it does not stand on it's own. Other stick vacuums, like the Electrolux, stand on their own and makes vacuuming so much easier, especially if you need to stop and start a vacumming chore. Lastly, I wish it had a light, which again, other brands do. I find the light very useful when in slightly darker areas of a room.

Having to hold the trigger while vacuuming is smart design because it preserves your battery -- sometimes you have to move furniture / things around, and the motor turning off saves energy. There's a limited number of charge cycles before your battery needs replacement, so it will die one day and a new one is $175-200 CAD (Canadian $ --> less if you're in the U.S.). Smart design, after all!

@@PriscillaThen But with my other unit (Electrolux), when I need to move things like coffee tables, chairs and other furniture, I just hit the power button. It's in about the same spot as on the Dyson, but on the front of the handle. Plus and this is a big thing for me, the Electrolux stands up own it's own. With the Dyson that is not possible, sadly. I have a back up battery pack for the Dyson. Bought it when I purchased my machine. Have never needed to use it. But it's peace of mind to know it's there.

If you are going to use the wall mount to charge or store the vacuum make sure to put it high enough so you can leave the tube and the cleaning head attached to the motor unit; saves having to disconnect them.

There's a feature on top that shows the remaining life of the battery. You just have to be consciously checking on it to make sure Iyoustill have enough battery to finish the job. I have learned that the best setting is the auto mode that is why Dyson made it the machine's default.

I bought an extra battery and keep it charged at all times, this is a negative and a positive. I also purchased a separate Stand to hold the vacuum, extra attachments and it charges the battery while the vacuum is not being used. This Stand can easily be moved if the need arises. My V11 came with only one vacuum head which is for carpet but I also use it on my hardwood floors and it does an excellent job. The worst Con is having to continually hold down the red button to run the vacuum as there is know on/off switch. I have searched online for an attachment to hold the on button in place for the V11. They do make such an attachment but it seems to work on all Dyson Cordless Vacuum “EXCEPT” the V11.

I just ordered one last night. The good thing is I paid 500 $ not 700$. I hope it's a great buy. I've read the manufacturer recommends staying on the eco mode it's the best default for longer battery life. I wonder if charging it every time before it's low will lower the battery life. I have a 2-bedroom apartment with no high carpets mostly hard floors. Dust in the old building is always a problem. Plus we get elder bugs in the summer, we are near trees and water they love to hang out and somehow get inside. Thanks, great review!

This was very helpful. I just bought this from HSN mainly because of the extended holiday return. I have never owned a cordless and that feature intrigued me. I ended up with it because other brands with power are just as expensive. My other go to brand is Shark but I'm reading too many horror stories of not sticking behind their product. This v11 is heavier than I anticipated. I have a couple of months to determine if I'll keep it.

I have found lately that manufacturers these days do not want to go to the expense of printing a compete Manual so I go on line where I can find what I need and print it out. I did that this morning when I received my new Dyson V12.

Mines the absolute pro. Way better upgrade. Upgraded filter system with thicker webbing on the plastic where the premotor filter part sits. Better sealing rubber rings ( doubled on the hepa end) to prevent fine particulate bypassing causing motor issues and blockage signals. Upgraded trigger system with support so the anchor doesn't break requiring trigger replacement which many earlier models had an issue with. Better high torque digital motorhead sealing without the outer sealing ring separating as you remove the roller assembly to clean it. They ironed out most of the earlier problems these vacuums had since the V10. The removeable battery feature was they're best idea ever compared to the 3 screw removal system. Battery management system is also better. Hence the " pro" series for the upgraded V11. Also 90 minutes run time on echo mode and 95- 100 minutes on auto mode which is strange from what I'm seeing on the specifications. This may have to do with altitude and humidity???

Dyson suggests you wash the filter regularly with plain water and allow it to dry for 24 hours before fitting it back onto the machine - the machine also tells you when the filter needs washing. You certainly don’t need to buy a new filter every time it “gets dirty or clogged up” that’s plainly ridiculous!

Thanks for this review. I found it extremely helpful as I just bought the V-10 Animal and the booklet was confusing. Even though I have a less techie model, I learned some things, like how to remove the canister if it gets dirty further up. I have a white Siberian Husky and her long fur is the whole reason I bought this. I have a black car interior and this upholstery device with motor is the only thing I have found that gets up all the fur. I did purchase another long rod which clips onto the first one, giving me a very long rod to reach my skylight. I also purchased a flexible tube that all the attachments fit on to give me more flexibility in cleaning my car. I ordered them through my local vacuum cleaner store but all the assessories are available on Amazon.

very good review, but your 3rd negative doesn't quite make sense, because the vacuum estimates the time before the battery is depleted in whatever mode you are in. so if you are in boost, and you run the battery down to zero, that means the battery is flat and needs to be charged. you cant put it into eco and expect more run time, because the battery is already flat.
@EverythingPractical
@EverythingPractical 3 жыл бұрын
My experience, and it has happened multiple times, is that I was in auto mode with 20 mins remaining, turned to boost mode that showed 4 mins, then during a 30 second vacuum session, it showed low battery. I tried to switch modes and it would not let me and showed low batter and I needed to charge. This doesn't make sense fod the vacuum to do this.

Great video. Very practical and "honest" recommendations, with a very thorough description of parts and assembly and use, including the "cons" as well as the "pros". I had to log on to a Dyson online "Chat Person" to be directed to KZbin to learn how to assemble and use this thing. That's because the included literature was useless, and the print was way to small. Also, frankly, if you like puzzles, assembling the Dyson 11 for the first time is like a puzzle, for the uninitiated, or if you're in a hurry to get set up and start vacuuming and cleaning. This was a very informative review by the "Everything Practical" guy, including his input on the price.

Love how you cover so many things that other videos on the V11 do not (and I've watched a LOT of them)! Are your prices in USD? (I'm in Canada, so trying to get a sense of comparison.) The V10 model in late 2021 only comes with the torque head, so not good for those who ONLY have hard floors but to buy a fluffy roller with laser is $200 CAD (Canadian $)! The V10 also doesn't come with the stiff brush, nor the LCD screen, nor the 20% boost in power, so after all is said and done, it's better to get the V11 instead, if you can. Have you tried the different attachments, like the lighted crevice tool, or the fluffy roller with laser?
@EverythingPractical
@EverythingPractical 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for the comments. The attachments that I have tried are the ones I show in the video. If you think you'll need more, I suggest first buying maybe a smaller kit with the essentials and if you find you really need the additional attachments then get those later. I also dont think a spare battery is necessary. If you are vacuuming a larger house, then perhaps a battery powered vacuum isn't the right choice.. also if you have lots of carpet, this isn't a great vacuum for that.

Hi Interesting video🙂 ,I just boutht this 2 weeks ago, i finally have my own opinion and gonna be honest, firstly i did pay 500 euro instead of 600 there was kind of deal even tought it is not really a lot. euro, so the pros are = it take the dust so perfectly ( im allergic to dust ) , its has good accessories , i was surprised to find many dust on my bed , the design is very pretty tho i like the color " Royal blue " its easy to use the three mode my favorite its the first one " eco" ,🥺🌱 its less noisy than the old" vaccums we have at home, its very easy to take off you know when you push the red buttons to put in a bin, is it not too heavy for me ( except when you hold for too long it may hurt my arm but its less than the other one ) so now the cons = the price its still so expensive ( i literally hesitated for one year until i bought it now ) , you need to take care well because the material are weak i already scratched the batterie ( grey thingy) a bit , it doesnt take the big uhm stuff like greasy food or normal food, im scared to break the hard plastic who is "protecting" 😅🥲😨 on the brush and the motor thing like the head of the vaccum, its my first time that i buy on my own because i always wanted to try , dont do big things or else its gonna block the filter and you need to take off we had to do that , but at the end im still satisfied so i will still use it cuz it take dust and big dust so well! i dont mind charging it oh and the acessories cost a lot tho for just one brush sorry if my comment its very long .( my bad for my english i am a self taught so this is not my first language) voila.

OK. So why do I get 90 minutes of run time on my V11 absolute pro on auto mode and 76 when I'm on carpet in Auto mode and others are getting a lot lower???🤔🤔🤔

@EverythingPractical not really. But most videos on the V11 has such low run times on auto mode on multifloor applications with the High torque digital motorhead. Unless the pro is an upgrade with the more reinforced rewashable pre motor hepa filter.

I find the wand is very difficult to separate from the top part. When I want to empty the dirt I must place the whole vacuum horizontally on a counter, carefully detach the head, then detach the wand from the top part. It is physically impossible for me to detach the wand from the top motor part when the vacuum is upright or even when it is lying horizontally on the counter with the head still attached. Even my husband is unable to do it that way and he must place it on a counter as well. Is this normal?
@EverythingPractical

Hello, no this does not sound normal. You should be able to easily press the red button and very easily detach any attachment from the main unit.

Mine, after 2 years of use, is starting to become difficult to take off as well. I will investigate and if I find a solution, I'll post a video 😊 But if yous is like this new, it's not normal...

19:55 'Dyson recommends you buy a new one'. What? Both the manual and the instructionmovie on the top (at least with the V15) show you how to simply wash it and let it dry for 24 hours.

Great option if it is true. Mine didn't come with a manual
@EverythingPractical
@EverythingPractical 3 жыл бұрын
But, yes, as you said, the manuals are online and I checked and indeed you are right as Dyson says you can clean by rinsing with water, shaking about, and leaving to completely dry (24 hrs) then to reattach. Thanks for the input and comment!

@@EverythingPractical Welcome :) When I got my V15 it sucked so much dust out of my carpet which my former vacuumcleaner missed that I had to empty the bin about 5 times while doing so. I had a Dirt Devil which was absolutely rubbish. It was kind of shocking how much dirt there was in the carpet even though it looked clean. But after 2 days of heavy cleaning I already got the 'wash the filter' message. I did buy a second one so I can keep working while the other one is drying.

Is suction more than the weird vacuum cleaners ? Also the battery has some expiry always. It starts deteriorating. Can you share any feedback on that.
@EverythingPractical
@EverythingPractical 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I have not done a comparison with other vacuums, so I cant comment. Dyson guarantees the batter for 2 years, and the expected life is around 4 years. I could not find how many charging cycles it is rated for, but it is designed to be continuously charged so leaving it plugged in while not in use is not an issue. Hope this helps a little bit!

@@EverythingPractical Thank you for the reply. I later saw that these cost about 700 EUR whereas a normal vacuum cleaner costs 90 EUR (example philips bagless). I thought it is not worth 7 times the price. Its just fancy.

Why on earth did you keep trying to use the foam roller (which is advertised as the head for hard floors) on carpet, and then explaining it doesn't work. It's like explaining that a fish can't fly.
@EverythingPractical
@EverythingPractical 2 жыл бұрын
In general, just because it's advertised one way doesn't mean its not capable of other functions. Otherwise we would not have creativity. I said in the video that this vacuum head was not designed for carpet, but this was a comparison to show the difference in performance. The outcome was (yes) as expected. A fork isn't a knife, but I bet you use a fork to cut some of your food. It isn't the best way, but it still can work if you need it too. The same here.

I love this machine! kzbin.infoUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g Assembly was a snap, only the handle had to be put on and it slides right in. Then a container filled with water and solution. This is not a vacumme cleaner, although the makers say you don't need to vacumme first. It is mainly for solid floor surfaces, but has a rug setting too. I have no rugs, so only used it on my pine wood floors. The machine has a mopping type rolling thing on the bottom, that scrubs the floor with water mixed with cleaning solution. A small bottle of the solution comes with the machine. Dirty water goes into a second compartment. The machine work worked quite well. It isn't very loud, and my floor looks so much better than when I mop it. Best of all, it is so much easier and less messy to use than a mop and bucket! I had a couple of things that might be nice, but not necessary. One is if the cord would retract into the machine instead of having to be managed with one hand. The other is that the amount of floor covered by the amount of solution seemed to be less than stated. But then, I might have gone over the floor more times than intended. I hope I can find the cleaning solution easily, I don't know how available it will be!
