Dystopian Wars - Battlegroup Hypatia, submariners of ice!

Today, we have the second wave of Antarctican vessels from Dystopian Wars to preview!
Dystopian Wars is a Jules Verne-style Steampunk/Sci-fi naval (and air) tabletop wargame originally produced by Spartan Games, the IP was purchased by Warcradle Studios several years ago when Spartan collapsed.
Any tips/tricks improvements for this kind of video are welcome, I have plenty more models and game systems to look over (including every model made for Victory at Sea) if you like this occasional format.

I actually love the beige vs. white contrast between the models. Reminds me of old, somewhat beat-up ships that have been in service for months vs. brand new ships straight out of the shipyard, or, dare I say dry dock?

The old line had those excellent British submarines with giant chainsaws on their prows. I am hoping those come back, the British surface fleet don't enthuse me but their subs were hilarious.

These still make me itch to glue them in pairs belly-to-belly for use as starships in Full Thrust and Iron Stars and the like. Like the idea of VSF "black ocean" space battles more than Dystopian Wars, particularly the current version of the setting with the uncomfortable mashup with Wild West Exodus.

As for panel lining, you could paint a model, spray it with gloss varnish and use something like Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color. Wipe out the excess after some 30 minutes with something like X-20 on cotton bars and spray Satin varnish on all after all dries up. Gloss Varnish needs to dry firmly before using Panel liner, and it can be used to accent rivets too.

In the Age of Sail and earlier, ships often used grog to make sure people didnt die horrifically from drinking contaminated water. How did Ottoman and other majority Muslim navies prevent such problems, given that drinking alcohol isn't allowed under Islam?

So does the Tacitus-class count as a Battlecruiser? It has 1 less turret and is presumably faster and less heavily armoured than the Battleship.

The computer game - From The Depths - might be of interest. I had a lot of fun with this about 5 years ago. It is still being updated as of now but not sure what they have done to it. You can build your own steampunk ships with various very complex weapons. When a battle is started, each ship has its own AI control.

The white one looks very nice,the other color makes me think of Russia 2nd battle fleet when they were covered in coal and getting set on fire when fighting Japan. That was one of my all time favorite stories you told,the 2 part one. I watch it weekly,just to make me laugh 😂. Thank you.

I feel like a wash and some drybrushing would carry those paintjobs a long way. As it stands, the white almost comes off as unpainted. The scheme COULD work, but the paintjobs just need more development

I like the Wraith Bone (?) colors better. Not quite a poppie to the eye and wouldn't stand out at dawn or dusk quite as bad as the glaring white if it was an actual full sized ship.

I know that you are not a modeller, let alone a scale modeller, but you might want to pick up a few model painting techniques from another youtuber that goes by the moniker of NightShift. He builds mainly armour models, with an emphasis on having them look good rather than perfectly real. Which means using tricks like adding ambient occlusion shadows in the painting scheme.

just my personal experience with panel line pens (with battletech minis) it seems for me if the paint dose not have much texture i.e. to smooth they dont seem to work as well but that also might be my brand of liner pens
