Was it really an imago of Dytiscus marginalis? The missing dorsal yellow stripes hint at another species of Dytiscus.

The marginal yellow stripes are clearly visible in the video. The species has been verified by a scientific entomologist. All the best.

@@JulioEiroa Then it is a different coloration pattern than Dytiscus marginalis here in Northern Germany.

How did the predation events end in both cases?

In both cases, the prey was able to free itself from predator. But most likely the manipulation for photography and video helped this happen. Thank you for commenting. Best regards.

@@JulioEiroa Interesting, thanks! I am very much interested in the (feeding) ecoloy of predaceous diving beetles (Dytiscidae) and giant water bugs (Belostomatidae).
