To better explain why nobody plays the Sacred Beasts, let's go over what you have to do to get them 1: Collect all 7 Spirit Keys 2: Oh fuck Chanceler Sheppard distributed them to the best students in Duel Academy 3: Defeat Jaden (Good luck with that), Chazz, Bastion, Alexis, Zane (Good luck with that), Crowler, and Banner in a Duel without losing to any of them 4: Go into the catacombs underneath Duel Academy 5: Don't have your soul stolen by the sheer power of the Sacred Beasts And once you do get them, you have to try and keep them from stealing all the energy from the Duel Monster Spirit World, resulting in every card in the world becoming blank, _including your own cards_

Rasca's anime effect really was broken. Skip the battle phase, your opponent's life points become 1. Not to mention that it couldn't be attacked by your opponent or affected by his spell/traps. Sad how in the real game it's the worst immortal. The only good one was Aslla Piscu (the one Carly used) in my opinion.
@elijahpadilla50836 жыл бұрын
Crazy Depending on how you construct your Deck, Aslla Piscu (the Hummingbird, Carly's) and Ccarayhua (the Chameleon, Misty's) can both be really good. Also, once we get the Lair of Darkness structure Deck, Uru (the Spider, Roman's) is going to be really good- Tributing your opponent's monster to steal your opponent's monster is some amazing shit.

I just wish that they had some of their anime effects and support; Uria could Special Summon itself from the GY if you discarded a Trap (which also makes it even stronger), you take no damage the turn that Hamon is destroyed, Raviel only needed three monsters to Tribute (not just Fiends), Dark Summoning Beast could summon *ALL* of the three Sacred Beasts at once ignoring Summoning Conditions, Chaos Core could deck thin by sending the Sacred Beasts from your deck to the GY, Armityle could non-target Banish all of your opponent's monsters once per turn, and Dimension Fusion Destruction could summon Armityle with the Sacred Beasts in your GY (not just your field), etc. Oh and also they were Divine-Beast attribute in the anime; which means any God Card support would also help them out as well.
@FeanixFlamage6 жыл бұрын
could always make some continuous spells/traps that give them those effects, that way you're still playing "fair" monsters, while also having the option of getting them to broken levels of power if you can get a better setup later on.
@ThePhoenixWylde6 жыл бұрын
If Konami gave people a way to revive the Sacred Beasts, either in the form of specific, Archetypal Continuous Spell and/or Traps as well as doing things that increase the likelihood of getting all three on the board in the same way that a lot of modern Archetypes can get several boss monsters out in one turn with only a few cards (a personal favourite is how D/D/D can fill a board with a few cards) then people who enjoy the visual and thematic style of these three "Phantom Demons" could enjoy playing with them more consistently in fun casuals.
@FeanixFlamage6 жыл бұрын
the god cards main issue is that they just don't do a whole lot. at least uria anyway actually does a fair bit by himself. the trouble is summoning him, since there's no real way to actively get three face up traps to tribute for him on the first turn. even something like temple of the kings only lets you get one active during the turn it was set, unless you wanna try abusing bubble illusion (which i don't recommend) the god cards just need three tributes, and obelisk and slifer at least can also still be special summoned, provided you don't mind losing them in the end phase. you could just as easily spend three turns normal summon three tributes, use things like d/d lamia, speedroid terrortop, supreme king dragon darkwurm, or use scapegoat on the opponents turn and use the tokens for three link monsters, and everything in between to summon any of the gods. the other problem with the god cards is that outside mound of the bound creator, you can't really protect them that way, though ra at least has immortal phoenix to help protect it by establishing a cycle of rebirth between sphere mode, ra, and phoenix. obelisk is clearly just designed to smash things with little to no thought put into it, while slifer has a fair degree of control with his effect, but it's also sort of difficult to utilize in any meaningful way given how easy it is to play around him. i think if they want to support the god cards and the sacred beasts, they have to design support for each specific card, not support for them as a group. this is the main problem with ra's disciple. in the anime, it's clearly supposed to be support for ra, taking advantage of how ra's attack is determined by the monsters used to summon it, and 3000+ atk plus the life point conversion effect meant ra would always be a threat. this isn't the case in the actual game though, so it falls flat. i'm fine with dark summoning beast working the way he does, and i'd also like to see the other "chaos" monsters from the anime that helped the sacred beasts be adapted as well, though that particular group is more designed to summon armityle, so that's also pretty iffy i suppose. i'd like to see traps for uria that can activate the turn they're set so uria can be a little more proactively summoned, i'd also like to see monsters that can accelerate his summon and grant more attack by letting you dump traps to do things, or even having them be trap monsters. hamon could have continuous spells that add another copy when activated like that one continuous spell yubel used in the anime to summon it against amon. (but preferably with an additional effect, since otherwise it's just kind of a waste of backrow space) maybe have continuous spells/traps that grant hamon/uria additional effects if they're sent to the grave to summon them. raviel is a bit trickier though, since by all means he should be able to rally a wide range of fiend monsters and build an effective deck around summoning him. the problem is that he's objectively the worst between the sacred beasts, and even the god cards, so you'd actively make whatever fiend deck you're playing much worse by running him in it. it's clear he's supposed to be used with the other two, with hamon protecting him from battle, and uria clearing the backrow out so he can actually attack the opponent. i really don't know how i would go about supporting raviel unless they made fiends that were archtype specific to avoid having them just be fuel for extra deck summons instead. i'd continue, but i'm pretty sure i should be close to the character limit for youtube comments, lol.
@FeanixFlamage6 жыл бұрын
i tend to construct comments in a sort of "stream of thought" style, in that i type what comes to mind as it's coming to me. i also tend to find that youtube likes to fuck with my comments when i try breaking up my comments like what you suggested. but regardless, my lack of capital letters or paragraph breaks should have little to no real affect on the actual quality of the information i'm attempting to convey, so i fail to see how it's necessary to use "proper" writing structure on something as trivial as a youtube comment. (besides, i figure that if someone isn't going to bother reading through what i write, then they probably aren't worth discussing anything with in the first place since they clearly aren't willing to actually put in the most minimal amount of effort)
@TheTrueLeafless6 жыл бұрын
Raviel might be an interesting option with the "Lair of Darkness"-Field Spell. The generated Shadow-Tokens are fiends and for his summoning you could use one of the opponents fiends (or Shadow-Tokens). Not to forget, that he has his own tributing effect.

Someone is going to mention Mound of the Bound Creator for the God cards, and yes, it does support the God cards, but it doesn't exclusively support them like Fallen Paradise does for the Sacred Beasts, or Ra's Disciple.. It's also a little paradoxical in that it needs to be popped in order to add a DIVINE monster to your hand but you want it on the field to provide protection for your God cards, so its also not nearly as good as Fallen Paradise is. This being said, it probably did deserve a mention all things considered.

Raviel can theoretically OTK if you tribute Hamon but that's such a risky play you really only wanna do it if you're absolutely certain you can. Stuff like Stygian Street Patrol and Mystic Tomato really helps with getting Dark Summoning Beast out into the field without tributing, and Imperial Customs will protect your Continuous Traps until you're ready to use them to summon Uria, which makes Trap Monsters pretty effective. And Mound of the Bound Creator is a decent secondary field spell. Gives the same protection, and does a little burn damage. Which makes Hamon pretty dangerous, dealing 2000 damage whenever it destroys a monster. Just a few suggestions for anyone wanting to build a Sacred Beast deck.

8:03 to 8:09- that secondary effect is actually more useful then you think. I mean you can summon dark summoning beast with the pendulum scale or something then you can tribute it to summon Raviel immediately, then set call of the haunted and use it next turn to bring dark summoning beast back,also make sure you have a fiendish chain trap card set to protect dark summoning beast, then tribute it to bring out Hamon and then place as many continuous traps on the field,as long as you have at least 2 or more in your hand, but leave one space if you have heavy storm in your hand. Finally you can banish dark summoning beast from your graveyard to add Uria from your deck to your hand, tribute 3 of the traps and then summon Uria, then activate heavy storm then the extra trap cards you set will be sent to the graveyard and will give Uria quite the power boost(it will also get rid of any spells or traps your opponents set on the field so it's a win-win situation).

Crystal beasts was my favorite deck back in the day. But after experimenting with Hamon a lot, I concluded it's simply not worth it. The card just doesn't do anything, and it's honestly often not worth the 3 tributed CBs, which could be used for something like Crystal Abundance instead. You already run Rainbow Dragon in that deck, which is just plain better. And you only need so many 4000 beatsticks.

This kinda makes me sad because I really like the Sacred Beasts and GX is my fav and those are the most memorable cards from the GX for me. Ughhh I just wish Konami would take a moment to give some old cards support and make them good because there are a lot of GX,5d's and Duel Monsters fans that really want to play with some of the cards from that era but they suck compared to today's meta. If only Konami would just add new support to them instead of constantly making new cards. I really wish they made some new support for the Evil Heroes too. They were amazing when they came out and I love the Supreme King.

Back when priority existed, Uria was pretty cool because you could instantly activate the effect upon summon and your opponent couldn’t bottomless or torrential and you can pop them without retribution. So it basically had a weakened obelisk-on summon- protection effect.

One card you forgot about, Dzeef, although it's basically as mediocre as Ra's Disciple... worse, since it requires playing multiple different Sacred Beasts in your deck, and is only useful to Worst Beast Raviel. (Well, i suppose you could use it to generate tribute fodder for Dark Summoning Beast, but unless you topdeck it with Fallen Paradise's draw...) Phantasmal Martyrs: Activate only while you have 2 or more cards in your hand, and control a face-up "Uria, Lord of Searing Flames" or "Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder". Send your entire hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon 3 "Phantasmal Martyr Tokens" (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Attack Position.

The new "Lair of Darkness" Deck could add in Raviel as a boss monster due to the number of Fiends it already has and that all the tokens from the field spell that it is named after being Fiends as well and the fact that they love tributing cards makes it a really good deck for Raviel.

I really wish Uria had his revival effect from the anime. That was the only thing they changed from his anime effect. Basically his revival effect in the anime was "if this card is destroyed you can discard one trap card, special summon this card ignoring summoning conditions" or something along those lines

Uria could have been much better if they kept its effect from the anime, which went like this: "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect or by sending 3 Trap Cards you control to the Graveyard. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each Trap Card in your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can select 1 face-down Spell or Trap Card your opponent controls, and destroy it. Spell and Trap Cards cannot be activated in response to this effect's activation. If this card is destroyed, during your next Main Phase, you can discard 1 Trap Card to Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. During the turn you Special Summoned this card by its effect, you cannot activate its other effects, and if you control another monster, this card cannot declare an attack."
@reginajoseph65856 жыл бұрын
Alex Young well that would make Uria op urias anime effect has the ability or break an entire deck since you have to continuously spend resources in this case your trap cards and unless you run an entire deck full of traps your opponent could just remove uria from play basically now if you can’t use any of those traps you previously had you just wasted your deck and another reason uria would be overpowered would be because of you play duel links some players every once in a while use specific cards only like this one specific kind of deck to run uria and while you might argue that if your dedicating an entire deck full of nothing but traps effectively helps you support the card or helps you effectively protect it with the other traps you have this might be true but it can also simply be used as a trap bait deck in a nutshell forcing you to use a spell or trap so they can get rid of certain threat then reveal their real strategy and another disadvantage would be if your opponent used a card that removed other cards from play this drastically reduces its overall attack points as well as putting you at a major disadvantage in the anime jaden when facing kagemaru had to remove cards in his graveyard basically he had no backup plan while urias anime effect definitely won’t be a bad thing it will make the card overpowered especially if you are that one guy who’s willling to buy pack after pack after pack just to be able to support a specific card but the card would be op in real life it’s anime effect best stay that way cause In real life your opponent would be at a disadvantage while you have an unfair advantage
Uria was actually pretty good when mound of the bound creator was released. Running 3 skill drains, malific cyber ends, and metal reflect slime were the main cards, with some extra continuous traps that offer protection to backrow and front row. Only thing it couldn't complete with were the pendulums, which had also just released.

Pendulum summoning made the overall summoning of the egyptian god cards much easier than the beasts with the gates. Of course, that kicks in their drawback of sending them to the graveyard, but for cheese casual purposes, it's a fun deck. Achieving the natural summoning, I can agree sacred beast are far more fun to play with.

How I rank each sacred beast 1. Hamon = The fastest Sacred beast to bring out especially when you play crystal beasts. 2. Raviel = The best way to bring out raviel quickly is indeed an all fiend deck and with a lair of darkness engine, OR If you have a dark world draw engine and swarming you cantribute 1 grapha to gain 7000 ATK and slam big damage. Then discard shimmering scraper then you got a 14000 beatstic that can potentially OTK your opponents monsters in attack position. 3. Uria = imo Uria is the worst sacred beast and the slowest to bring out since it requires trap monsters to bring out but at least the high contiuos trap card gain makes up for it.

Nordics should just be able to do their own thing and not need to follow the same 3 god gimmick as what came before. If they're going to be given legacy support, they first need to be rebooted, because the original cards are either powercrept or unfixable gimmicky nonsense at this point

Uria used to be immune to bottomless trap hole back when u played it. When I used to summon it you can call priority on its effect when its summon. Since they cant respond to it the effect resolves and now uria has been successfully summoned.

In my opinion, SOMETIMES, the Sacred Beasts are better than the Egyptian Gods, permitting that you have meaningless traps to sacrifice to summon Uria, and meaningless spells to sacrifice to summon Hamon, for example. Truthfully, I like to duel with my deck that's not unfairly OP'd, because I like strategy with monsters that normally wouldn't be good to use in battle.

I will say I've managed to build a deck that revolves mainly around using Hamon and raviel which is a fiend focused deck one of the simplest cards that is useable to quickly summon Raviel is the Phantom blaster (genuinely forgot that things name) but basically once Hamon is in defense on the field and you have raviel the only other monsters or cards you would need are negate effect cards/monsters and use raviel and other monsters to attack Theres quite a lot of support options for raviel and hamon if they are the two main cards for the deck especially fiend decks have alot of support but the cards are lack luster in terms of how much a single card provides in terms of support so it's hard to keep a good balance of both spells and traps with monsters if you are overly worried about card effects Only issue is it's quite easy to over power hamons defences so even then an additional defensive support for Hamon would also be needed just incase But the key is learn how to play the cards and what card combos work best because even a simple deck like a Gaia deck using the gaia that gains 2600 attack for each card it destroys could quite easily catch up and supersede raviel and Hamon

I think the best support for the gods would be a continuous spell that once per turn allows you to normal summon any god card regardless of wether you have normal summoned or not, and if you normal summon with that cards effect you can sacrifice the continuous spell as one of the tributes. Thats just an Idea I had when you talked about Fallen Paradise and how you wished the gods got similar support.
@NickersonGeneral3 жыл бұрын
I see people suggesting fixes for the gods all the time, and they always fall into one of two camps. They either suggest a card that makes it easier to summon them, or a card that gives them extra protection effects. Both help a little, but don't address the biggest problem, that they don't really do anything useful when they're on the field. They don't generate card advantage, lock down the opponent in anyway, or even enable OTKS. They're just big beaters, and that's it. Instances like this we can learn from how Blue-Eyes decks briefly became tier 1. They got cards like Twin Burst Dragon, Azure Eyes, Sage, Bingo Machine, and of course Alternative Dragon. Many of them made blue eyes more searchable, but also had effects that generate advantage from blue eyes being in your deck. Alternative dragon could pop problematic cards, Twin Burst could pretty easily clear the field, Azure Eyes got monsters back from the grave, etc. THAT is the kind of support the gods need to become playable.

Got an Uria deck that's been countering the meta for the last 10 years and is still relevant to this day. Just a shame I suck at reading enemy plays (bad memory) and that it happens to be a control deck. Seems all the players that could do phenomenally with it are only interested in playing agro. Uria's in the deck as a win condition or a method to control the flow of the deck. It's a continuous trap deck after all and sometimes, you need to make room. Not to mention this also allows the use of certain continuous traps that would otherwise be somewhat self-destructive such as Skill Drain or Royal Decree. Also, Giant Ant Eater Eating Ant is also great for the deck in a similar way. Also, Hamon works well in Crystal Beast decks. If I need to tell you why, either look up Crystal Beasts, or sell all your cards. They are wasted on you. Though it's not really the most competitive build, it's still viable and fun. Lastly, Raviel... I used it in frogs once. It was ok, but yeah. Overall, this card is kindof trash. In conclusion, save for Raviel, I disagree with your overall evaluation of the beasts. These cards are not cards that are good on their own. They need to be built with supportive cards in mind to work. Also, don't bother making a deck that tries to use all three. Though it's possible, it's unlikely you'll ever have all three on the field unless your match is basicly fixed.
