Omega is also just the best in the current run of the IDW comics. He's got character, heart, and a unique sense of humor none of the others do. When his body is destroyed during an invasion, Tails promises he'll build him a new body as soon as he has some time, and Omega responds: "Give me jaws,I will bite their ankles."

To this day, I still can't shake up how much of a waste it was to NOT have Tails and Omega team up. It's such a great way to expand the two characters by having them interact with people they're not used to. As much as I love Team Dark and certainly don't think they should disband, I think there's some weird curse about Sonic characters in general where for some reason they don't want them to interact on their own with anyone outside their respective team, which is a darn shame. I'd love a Team Dark spin-off and even more so if they gave each member of the trio some stand-alone moments, like going on separate missions or interacting with old/new characters.

I actually don't really like Omega his obsession is rather one note and stated to annoy me quickly after his introduction. Its considerably worse in Chronicles in which he is essentially just HK-47 from Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic who I also didn't like. 06 is properly the game were I liked him the most because his relationship with Team Dark takes priority over his obsession with destroying Eggman.

I'm also reminded of Sonic Chronicles, where Shadow spent some of the early parts of the game searching for Omega and upon learning that he was defeated and damaged, he vowed revenge. And when joining the party, if you refuse to rescue Omega, Shadow says he'll be "very upset". He also openly admits that Omega is his friend.

@@karana2833 as much as I adore the IDW for their characterisation fo the cast (Amy & Team Chaotix in particular are outstanding) I think so far the depiction of Omega has been pretty weak. His vengefulness towards eggman and his robots is played too comically, and he has not shown any care for anyone, not even team dark. Him being too stubborn to retreat and getting dismantled by the zombots was a great indication of how... not great Omega is in. The comics, much like Shadow’s similar fate in that arc.

06 gets a lot of hate, and some of it is very deserving, however team dark's story was done amazingly well. Another year in development, some removals such as Elise entirely, the lifeless NPCs, and the annoying issue of blocking off a level until a pointless mission or item is gained(something that plagued Unleashed too), and 06 could have been a milestone in storytelling with Sonic characters that still echoes today. Unfortunately, we know it was the opposite, and SEGA went hard with avoiding everything that 06 attempted.

Omega is one of the characters that I feel the IDW comics got right, with a few minor inconsistencies. In those, he is a character who shows a lot of bravado, but never attacks innocent people. He blows throw the Zombots, but he does his best to protect the survivors as well. Shadow suffered from the Colors era curse pretty bad, but Rouge and Omega are written really well. Plus Omega is really funny in IDW Sonic. "I am not lonely. I am ENRAGED." Is a pretty good summary of him, he won't say it, and I doubt they'll elaborate on the line, but to me, it felt like he was livid that one of his friends fell to the Zombots while he was fending them off. (Spoilers: it was Shadow because he was written really poorly)

I like the acknowledgement of the E-series in Sonic Heroes. By that I mean, if you score on a stage poorly sometimes Omega will say "I couldn't even beat Gamma or Beta." Or something like that. If he had a solo role, I would want to see more of that. Him learning from his ancestors pretty much.

There really needs to be some kind of legacy thing with Gamma and Omega. Have a scene with Omega and Amy where she brings up similarities between him and Gamma, Omega dismisses him as just being a dumb pawn for Eggman, only for Amy to tell the story of how Gamma betrayed Eggman to save her; then have some missions where Omega’s trying to find Gamma’s memory disk that Eggman’s hid away somewhere so he could better understand the rogue robot he was built as an homage to or something. It’d be really sweet to acknowledge Gamma’s story and struggles without undoing the tragic, beautiful death of that character or retconning in a way for the other characters to just know about what happened to him. Perhaps its not what people want out of Omega, but you could even give him an identity crisis or something with a plotline like this. Make him question the logic behind his destructive motives and eventually have him embrace it for a more noble goal (saving the animals inside, like Gamma) or have him try to help Eggman’s other robots gain sentience to rebel against him, like Omega, Metal Sonic and Gamma have. Theres a lot you can do with a plotline as simple as “Omega learns a bit about Gamma and decides to investigate”

Omega has always been in my top favorite characters, at points taking my #1 spot, but it really feels like he's just empty fanservice now. He's like Green Hill Zone in robot form. "Look, Sonic fans! It's Omega! We think you like Omega, right?" One thing I would love for them to canonize is his crush on Blaze from the Archie comics. That was absolute gold, and it really humanized Omega. In Sonic Chronicles, Shadow's main motivation, in the first half of the game, is to rescue Omega. He puts Omega's rescue as his first priority, even over saving the world

I think he still gets a lot of grief for being a cheap E102 Gamma rip off. Everyone loved Gamma and his story and then this thing shows up looking eeriely similar in design but then gets a rep of Sega trying to milk Gamma's popularity while knowing full well they can't bring it back; so they went with the next best thing. He is very easily forgotten about as simply that third member of Team Dark, despite the fact like Team Chaotix, it is a really awesome trio, there's just something about them being part of a group that helps them shine more. I suppose for the reason you gave, as part of a group he has a role, by himself he doesn't have anything.

It seems more like he's based on Gamma, or more likely a tribute to him, rather than a ripoff. In terms of personality Omega is distinctly different to Gamma. Omega betrays Eggman because he has a deep hatred for him and everything he stands for after he wastes his potential. While Gamma betrays him because of his friendship with Amy and because he feels it's his duty to free the animals trapped inside his brothers.

@maltese 84 what if, post sonic adventure 1 [after Perfect Chaos' attack], Eggman got onto the Egg Carrier looking for stuff to salvage and found Gamma's broken body there, took the scraps to his hidden base (heroes' one, not SA2) and began upgrading him, leading to Omega. But, after some test, Omega was deemed too dangerous, mostly for Eggman himself, and that could explain why he got locked.

I'd love for Omega to have his own standalone storyline. He's got a lot of potential, since we saw very little of him. Sure, he hates Eggman, but he does care about Team Dark as a whole, so giving him a game where he focuses on saving them would be a fun time. Team Dark as a whole needs a standalone game to explore their camaraderie more. There's a lot that can be done there, especially since we only ever see them as side characters.

I know it’s unrelated but I feel like as a video subject, you should talk about the Archie comics. It’s strange I grew up watching and reading these comics, and now that I’ve seen and encountered more of the fandom, a lot of people strangely think the comics are dumb. When I’ve seen the best storytelling, character use, and pure drama from the series. They even gave omega some spotlight, he and gamma actually encountered eachother and clearly the dying robot gamma was no match. But if I can remember in that issue, gamma had inserted his data into omega, and it had a playback to all that gamma had experienced and it helped omega see the bigger picture and develop as a character. It really developed and strengthened the bond between omega and gamma through themes of generations and linage, and not forgetting the past but moving on to the future with the knowledge you’ve gained. Omega is pretty great, I wish to be able to see and possibly play him again and several other characters.

Yeah, now that I think about it, I think that's why Shadow is friends with Omega because Shadow sees himself in Omega, in Heroes as you said Omega was made to be the ultimate, he was in isolation and had revenge as his first goal. Tails does successfully fix Omega and speaks to him briefly... in Sonic Chronicles, not Forces. I know everyone and their mother has disowned Chronicles from the canon and for many reasons (both good and bad), but I still have the ittiest bit of affection for that game. I still laugh at the bit where Omega thinks Tails has lost his mind when he asks him not to kill Eggman, but then Shadow and Rouge are basically like, "Actually, we kinda need him alive right now, so if you could hold off on that and help out Tails, that'd be neat" (paraphrasing, of course). The way I see him is that Omega is the representation of the main attitude that Team Dark has throughout the games, with his determination and strict focus showing the main objective that the trio is trying to achieve in each one of them. Heroes: revenge on Eggman Shadow: making a clear path (doubts about Shadow's organism) 06: trying to save the future and having conflicting ideas on doing so, seen among other characters. Forces: last hope becoming clear as they approach Eggman base. As determinated they are, anything could go wrong the same he sweeps in without previous analysis of what is happening (jk, he went deus ex machina and even Rouge have him crap for it)

Omega's probably the least used member of Team Dark and that's a shame. The games from 2010 onward didn't do him any favors, but there IS one moment in Colors DS that I enjoyed with him. When he meets Orbot and Cubot, his first reaction is to destroy them on the spot with no questions asked. I REALLY wish he did, because to me. Orbot and Cubot are COMPLETELY POINTLESS.

Team Dark are my favorite Sonic characters. I am always hurt at seeing how Modern SEGA has botched these characters so horribly. It sucks that 06 didn't do well, because SEGA has the unhealthy mentality of "well, this game did bad, so everything in it was bad". I always was under the impression that in the bad future of Sonic 06, Omega was reprogrammed and essentially forced to hunt Shadow down and imprison him. I don't think that there's any in-game confirmation of this, but I felt that it made sense in the context of their friendship and added another layer of tragedy to that future.

Gamma and Omega are two of my fav Sonic characters. Omega is like a scaled down version of Heavyarms with his artillery, plus elements of the T-800 from T2. Gamma was killed off in his debut game, which put an end to any real continuation sadly. So I think Omega was partially meant as a spiritual successor, but with enough differences to be his own character. I feel the reason they don't get much attention is largely due to them not being cute fuzzy animals. It's the same for Heavy and Bomb. There's some obscure characters who deserve a video.

Honestly, for as much as I would absolutely love Omega to have more screen time, I believe they kinda did a good job leaving him out in adventures that don't concern him, unlike other characters who were just there but didn't really have anything to offer, but it still boils down to the same problems those characters have, Writers don't know what to do with them, so they eighter just put them in because, or in Omega's case, neglect him for a good time, if they knew what to do, neighter of these problems would be present, Forces kinda made a step on the right direction, but also didn't, with the Team Dark banter but then being absent trough the entire game, like you just said. While I do believe _Shadow The Hedgehog_ (the game) isn't as bad as people think, I also agree that he should've had more screentime, given his relation with Shadow alone and also his delivery, but no, two stages. I don't know how much would someone care about this, but I've never seen anyone talk about the Sonic Chronicles RPG, I know it's preety much non-canon, and has some other issues, but I believe it's underrated as well; the game has some interesting interactions between characters, [The following can be conidered spoilers I guess?] Unfortunately, Omega is an optional Party Member, so you could even go trough the whole story without him, which is a bummer, but the Quest to get him is actually preety good, the reason you even meet up with Shadow at all in Blue Ridge is because he was looking for Omega, who went to Metropolis and lost contact, he agrees to join the Party to stop the greater Nocturnus threat, who made their base of operations in Metropolis, so are likely responsible for his dissapearance, when getting there, finding Omega is preety much his Top Priority, you can find him in a building trashed by a group of improved Lazer Drones, your Party splits up in this part of the game, you can only get to him with Tails and Eggman's group, Tails does fix him and talks a bit, when omega decides to attack Eggman for obvious reasons(unfortunately, you don't fight him), Tails tries to convince him that Eggman is an ally for now, but believes he's lying until Shadow says otherwise. Also he's so powerful in battle and having him in the party can have some interactions here and there, but that's about it.

I know Chronicles is no longer canon, but I honestly wish they'd give another go at the rpg formula. Way too much untapped potential there, but I guess they're afraid of doing so in the same way they're afraid of having another go at the adventure formula after 06's failure.

Tails in Sonic 06: Most played supporting character Omega: Got a boss fight, was much more awesome and impact to the story, and was actually fun. Also, I think I'm guilty of not giving this character enough credit, he really is like everything you say he is. I think I like him more now.

SEGA felt that Rouge's outfit in SA2 was too sexy, so they gave her a new look that covered more skin. (Note the long sleeves and covered back.) It was an attempt to make her look more "appropriate". That backfired on them, because Rouge's Heroes outfit was deemed to be _even more_ sexual than it was before. So they returned her to the SA2 outfit, and have stuck with it ever since. An amusing blunder on SEGA's part, in my opinion.

It's been years since I played the Shadow the Hedgehog game, but it took me until now to realize that there really weren't any interactions between all three members of Team Dark in that game. The closest thing would be at the beginning of Lava Shelter in Expert Mode where Rouge checks in with Shadow on his training, and Omega interrupts her to claim he would be the one to defeat Eggman and prove his strength, only to have Rouge say to him "Omega cut it out. Don't you have anything better to do?" Followed by Omega simply replying with, "...ooh."

Omega deserves so much better. He's my favorite Sonic Character to date. And that says a lot, since Knuckles toppled Sonic for me and only Omega managed to kick Knuckles from his pedestal and hasn't given it to any other Sonic Character thus far. I love his blunt and single-minded nature, that still harbors so much potential for growth and story telling :D

Would love to see another adventure 2 style game with Omega filling the role as the mech-type character. His game play in 06 is a more fast paced, but still combat oriented, version of the adventure game’s shooting levels. No targeting reticals, and no slow speed. Similar speed to shadow, but more power to blow away hordes of enemies.

I've always found Omega to be a dope character with his destructive capabilities, great design and also being entertaining af with his personality and dialogue (especially in Heroes). I just wish he didn't suck to play as in 06 since that's the only time you ever get to play as him on his own terms in a traditional 3D Sonic game (I also wish he didn't sound like a Microsoft product in that game). I also feel like Omega's a flicky inside a robot's body, since that's the case with the other E-series robots, and I also feel like that would explain why Omega's actually able to feel emotions.

In the comics, Gamma essentially uploads himself into Omega before Omega destroyed him. So in a sense. He lives on inside of Omega. I like to think of it like that.

There's only so much you can do with one character, we should've BEEN HAVING a Sonic Heroes Sequel more than a decade ago. They're so behind on character development 💯

One thing that I think would be REALLY cool for omega is for Amy to talk to him about Gamma, about how Gamma went against eggman and sacrificed himself, and upon hearing this, omega gets angry or dissapointed of himself for believing that he's inferior to Gamma, and by the end of thid character arc, he tells about that to either Shadow or Rouge about these thoughts, and then rouge or shadow say "you are not gamma, you are omega, a hero and a great friend, you're already perfect the way that you are, be yourself and that's all that matters", that would be AMAZING to see imo
