Yes mate put a non return connection on it and connect it up will work fine 👍

The pipe is a bit short but should be able to put extension on it mate, shouldn’t see a problem with it 👌👍

Just bought a new surge filter has the same problem with leaking drain valve and I have tried a new one and still it leaks just as bad there is clearly a serious issue with this valve and its components

They do leak from the air intake it is a bad design mate, the best thing is to put a non return valve on it pull it out more from inside to give you a bit more pipe, and the other way is to put an air line to it and put it higher than the filter hope that sorts the job out for you mate 👌
