Sangeetha Kalanidhi Aruna Sairam is one of the popular Carnatic singers and vocalists in India. She was trained by Sangita Kalanidhi Smt. T. Brinda in the style of Veena Dhanammal. As of now, she has recorded over 50 records and she is the first Carnatic musician to perform at the BBC proms in London and the Oud Festival of Israel (Jerusalem). She is also the Vice-Chairman of Sangeet Natak Academy which is India’s premier national institution for music and dance. She is honoured with many national and international awards, including the US Congress Proclamation of Excellence (2008) and the Padma Shri (2009).

Incredibly beautiful responses to disappointing questions. Srimati Aruna Sairam is not only an incredible artiste, she is extremely well-spoken and has incisive insights (I have had the opportunity to spend almost 2 hours listening to her talk - she was generous with both her time and thought). This interviewer comes with an attitude of "I know this, and now you explain it" rather than, "may I know this". Not only that, he refers to her whe quoting others as "Aruna abhang padiye koottatha kootra" (@14:12). Even if that is how the people he comes across are referring to her, is it not incumbent upon him to maintain elementary decorum? He could have simply asked, "there is a criticism that you attract people with abhangs" (never mind that question is an unnecessary question in the first place --- you can ask what inspired her to introduce abhangs -- a question that he DOES ask in the next segment, which is why I edited this comment). Just because a bunch of fools wonder why she is successful, there is no need to take the precious time of this incredible artiste and waste it on ridiculous questions. She scored big time when she says most things in life are learned in hindsight, not foresight in response to yet another of the ridiculous questions @12:25 through @12.53. When you have an artiste of this caliber, you need to prepare and prepare to ask sensible questions for the interview. Instead, this interviewer wants to show his "knowledge or மேதாவித்தனம்". It is unfortunate that we don't have good interviewers to takes us behind the scenes and into the minds of these talented artistes.
