Ignorant and socially irresponsible for him to say nobody wants to see a movie where caste is shown. Newspapers are flooded with caste crimes on a daily basis and there are city bred individuals living in small corporate and high storey bubbles who are completely unaware that such discrimination exists. Movies are another medium to make this a point of discussion but also just to tell these stories. Asuran, Madras, Vazhai are all stories and movies that spoke caste, encouraged discussion and did well commercially. You would think after so many years of collaboration with a wide variety of people, GVM would have more acceptance than this.

I agree 100% what GVM said about caste movies. I think in the last 6 to 7 years enough issues discussed, portrayed and said on all sides and personally a fan of those directors and those movies, I feel pretty exhausted of those type movies now. It would be nice if they can explore some other ideas in future. And to GVM no matter whoever said Drug scenes could have been avoided in VA, IMHO it was good to have that as any addiction is an addiction, the way to come out of it is what matters. You have shown people how to get out of that and fight back. Loved it.

I think a great amount of caste stories should come. It's not a thing of the past. It changed a lot of people's perspectives. For example after seeing Karnan, I realized how much important is reservation. Similarly, lubber pandhu. @RatnaEzhilKanagavel I'm not against caste-based movies. My point is that repeating the same style and related content on certain issues can bore the audience over time. A good example is Director Hari after Kovil, he didn’t explore romantic or love-based subjects. His continuous focus on similar themes eventually led to a decline because the audience got tired of it. Personally, I love Mari’s work; his art form is exceptional. However, he should try something different at least once in a while.
