Steps to Steam Iron a Cotton Saree:
Prepare the Saree: Lay the saree on an ironing board or a clean, flat surface. Smooth out any major wrinkles with your hands before ironing.
Begin with the Pallu (the loose end of the saree):
Start with the pallu or loose end of the saree.
Place a clean cotton cloth over the pallu to protect it from direct heat and steam.
Run the steam iron over the cloth in gentle, straight motions. Allow the steam to penetrate the fabric, but avoid pressing too hard to prevent flattening any embroidery or delicate details.
Move to the Body of the Saree:
Continue by moving to the body of the saree.
Similar to the pallu, place a clean cotton cloth over the fabric to protect it from direct heat.
Steam iron section by section, working from top to bottom, using gentle strokes.
Focus on Details and Pleats:
Pay attention to any detailed work or pleats while ironing. Use the tip of the iron or a low-heat setting for delicate areas to avoid damage.
For pleats, hold and straighten each pleat one at a time and steam iron carefully to maintain their crispness.
Check for Remaining Wrinkles:
After ironing the entire saree, check for any remaining wrinkles or areas that need more attention.
Steam those specific areas using the same gentle technique until the wrinkles are removed.
Hang or Fold the Saree:
Once ironed, hang the saree or fold it neatly to prevent wrinkles from reappearing.
