Hello RV r's , I took advantage of your Liz 100 discount and recieved my Ripcurrent S about a month ago. After putting all the accessories on it from Juice and Amazon...I hit the road. Having 200 miles on it now...I am servicing the basic gears, nuts and bolts, and getting a grasp on how everything works. I have to say they had the black extra large in stock and had it at my door about 6 days from ordering it. I live across the country in Florida also. Good job! I'm 71 year young and it's nice I can renew a life long hobby (biking) again. Since I've been out and about I have fell in love with this bike. I really don't know why I haven't gotten it sooner. With your background, Paul, in electronics and your advice about making sure first and foremost to get the best battery manufacturer you can afford....was a great help Paul. Reviewing Juice and the ceo who lived in Holland for 6 years and got the e bike bug (seeing bikes are KING in Holland....and his hands on manufacturing of the battery packs) prior to recreational e bikes he manufactured mules (E- bike cargo carriers) for warehouses has given him a leg up on all the competition. All that experience has been put together on these e-bikes. Thanks again Paul and Liz for your knowledge and advice...GREAT BIKE!!!!! Ray from Tampa, Florida

Liz, love your videos. I also have a Rip Current S that I purchased almost a year ago. The bike never operated quite right, and being my first bike didn't really recognize the problem. Contacted Juiced, made an appointment to drop off in Chula Vista and spent the night in my Ekko at the Metro KOA in Chula Vista. Juiced got my bike working as new and can't believe the improved performance. Faulty petal sensor. Juiced is awesome and would highly recommend their bikes. Also the KOA Metro in Chula Vista on second avenue is very nice. Cheers RS

I am an early Juiced Rip Current S owner from back in 2018. I actually have the fifth one ever made. There's a lot to know about the RCS compared to other fat Ebikes out there, but to sum it up quickly, I would say that the Juiced Rip Current is more of an "open palette" ebike than most other ebikes. Besides a simple speedometer and battery level meter, the LCD screen also gives you a secondary screen that shows metrics that you don't normally get on other E bikes, from watt hours and amp hours being used (in real time) to showing you the temperature of the ECU. The bike also has features like cruise control, walk mode, a cadence and torque sensor and a TAB feature (Throttle Assist Boost) which simply put, gives you over 1000 watts of direct power for quick starts off the line, (like at a busy intersection)- it's just amazing how fast this big bike can move. These are things you don't get in other popular fat ebikes like the Rad Rover or Himiway. Although it sounds complex, none of these features have to be used if you don't ever want to, but if you like the technical side of things, it's all there for you. Upgrades are also easy to do, like on my bike, I have an upgraded drive chain, pedals, carbon fiber bar, front hydraulic brake, suspension seatpost, an upgaded front suspension fork and headset, a cushy saddle and lots of little extras which I love adding to my bike. Again, none of that needs to be done, it's just something I enjoy doing. The best place to investigate ebikes is on EBR (Electric Bike Review) forums ( electricbikereview.com/ )which lets you see all the ebikes out there and allows you to talk to owners about them. If anyone wants to know more, just ask me.
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
Sure appreciate your comment! These are great features that you listed that we didn't include in our video. It's always a challenge trying to deliver the right amount of technical info without going too technical. Thanks again for listing them here. Hope to see you on the bike trail!

@@LizAmazing I think you guys did the exact right amount of detail in your video review. Most people will want to just hop on and go for a spin. The comment section is where the technical riders can find out the intricacies of the bike, so I gladly provide the hint of the magic of this awesome bike or where they can get a complete low-down on the bike from other owners. That's how it happened for me. I almost ended up with a Rad Rover, which is half the bike in my opinion. Luckily, I got steered over to Juiced. Thanks for replying.

To the larger fellas out there, yes the RipCurrent comes in an XL frame size. It now also has those riser handlebars making reach adjustments a non-issue. At 6'7" I found the XL RipCurrent S to feel a lot less jammed up compared to riding other standard frame bikes. The rest of the bike is great too. I am not disappointed at all and am in fact loving it.

@@LizAmazing I'll be retiring quite soon this December so I do hope to see you two on the bike trail some day! Looking forward to some long stints in a high roof cargo van conversion and biking quite a few scenic areas. Back regarding my RipCurrent-S, I did swap out the front inside chain guard to a 39-tooth sprocket. That helped a lot as right now I mostly use the bike for a quick exercise lap. ....with assist at Zero, or Eco mode elsewhere. Ironic I buy this fat-tire eBike for all its capability but have put half the miles on it from a short exercise lap that is an uphill workout. My current complaint is simply not getting to ride it often enough (I don't commute with it). I hope to use it on quite a variety of gravel roads, trails as well as blacktop and waterfront boardwalks. Good times!

Love the review on the Rip Current S. My wife and I have them and they are awesome. I’ve put just over 500 miles so far. We use the Swagman rack you showed on our 5th wheel with the duel ebike cover and it is solid. One thing you might consider checking out is the Sena R1 cycling helmet. They have a built in intercom which is really nice, and safe. Allows us to ride and talk without taking our eyes off the road or put headphones over our ears. Didn’t realize just how much we would enjoy them until we got out on some nice 20+ mile rides.

Liz/Paul, are you going to review the LUNA X-1? If so, could you cover frame size selection also please? TY
@LizAmazing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. I do love my bike but Paul had to make significant modifications to make it rideable. Both Luna bikes we purchased arrived with the top gear locked out. Top speed only 15mph. Paul adjusted it and it would go 18. It has just a 32 tooth front sprocket and he replaced that with a 42. Now it will go 23 mph. However, the chain pops in high gear. Paul thinks that's why they locked out that gear, because there is too much torque. But I live in high gear when I am on flats. We both thought the chain was going to break one day due to the popping, and sure enough it did after nine months of use. On top of that, Luna's customer service has been non-existent. They have been difficult to work with and so we just don't feel comfortable recommending them. Also, the display screen cannot be read while on the bike. I have to get off and cup my hands around it to see how much battery I have left and how far I have ridden. Let us know if you find anything in an e-mountain bike. Thanks!

Thanks very much for the great review! I’ve been riding a hybrid bike for several years and have lately been trying to decide between the RipCurrent S and the CrossCurrent X. I was wondering what you thought of the fat tires on the RipCurrent X for road use. Is there a lot of vibration or road noise with those fat tires? I will be doing an equal amount of groomed trail riding and street riding, so I don’t need fat tires, but the fat tires would help me to go places I haven’t been able to go in the past. More importantly, I don’t want to make the street riding miserable with a lot of vibration or noise. I’m still unsure if the road experience will suffer as a tradeoff? Thanks for your comments.
@LizAmazing3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick. Great question since we have had both the RipCurrent S and the Cross Current X. Some tire noise but almost not worth mentioning. No vibration. The main thing we noticed was the increased rolling resistance on the street, which you pay for in more effort to go the same speed as the CrossCurrent. However, if you are going to do groomed trails, or maybe some trails you've spotted but never done before, you will appreciate the fat tires. If you are going to carry it on a rack, the ten pound weight difference may make you choose the lighter CrossCurrent X. To sum up, if the thought of exploring trails and even riding on sand or gravel most excites you, then the RipCurrent S is the answer. If you are most excited about being quicker and more nimble on the streets, then the CrossCurrent X is the answer. Thank you for the review, this was very helpful. During the video portion while you were gradually increasing speed (starting about 4:09) it sounds like the bike gets extremely noisy above about 18 MPH. Is it as noisy as it sounds, or is it the microphone location making it sound loud? Is the noise from the tires or the motor?

Since you have had the Ripcurrent S for some time now and have put on miles, how does the hub drive do on hills. The negative I hear about hub drives is when climbing hills. I live in AZ and would mostly do more remote fire roads and occasional mtn bike trails in the areas we go camping but I'm not into extreme trails or jumping. However many of these fire roads would include some steep uphill sections. If I get a hub drive I'm leaning toward the Ripcurrent S. Do you have any experiences with any MidDrives as a comparison?
@LizAmazing3 жыл бұрын
MidDrives are definitely better on hills and we do have a mid drive. If you are going to do a lot of steep hills, get something with a mid drive and the lighter the better. Otherwise, the RipCurrent S is a good trail bike.

Your review was a factor in my decision to go with the Juiced Rip Current S. I am around Paul's age I will be 72 this September and have a number of health issues which has limited my biking walking hiking. However since getting the Rip Current I am like a kid at Christmas, I look for excuses to ride it. So far it is a great bike. I have 1 question have you had any problems with water moisture issues. I currently live in So. Cal. so it is dry as a bone here, but you mentioned you ride in the rain, and also travel in the rain. Do you take any special precautions or have any problems with the electronics?

You guys have some great videos and very informative! I bought a total electric Chevy Bolt back in June, and so now I'm starting to think about electric bikes. Help me understand the major advantage of the fat tires. Because they make the mountain bike style ebikes as well. Are the fat tires mainly if you want to ride in sand, like on the beach? I could see going either way (mountain bike or fat tire) for trail riding, but just wanted to make sure I understood all the advantages of the fat tires. thanks!
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. We currently have both a full suspension mountain bike (Luna X1 Enduro) and a fat tire bike, the Rip Current S and I would say the main difference, besides the rear suspension, is the gearing. The Luna will climb pretty much anything you can get traction on, whereas the Rip Current has it's limitations. The lack of rear suspension on the Rip Current also makes it more difficult to get through really rough terrain. All that said, I still prefer the Rip because it's faster and will still go off road, in fact it's even more stable on the soft stuff, like the beach, than the Luna. We actually had a problem getting the beach footage because Liz wasn't able to rid next to me on her bike. What it comes down to is what you intend to do with the bike. If you want something to terrorize your local bike paths on with the occasional off road adventure then I'd suggest the Rip Current. If however you want a serious off road go anywhere bike, then I'd say the Luna or something like it would work better Hope that helps. P.

Hey Paul and Liz, great review on the Juiced bikes. Thinking about getting my wife an e-bike just so she can keep up with me (I don’t ride an e-bike yet)! 🤫. Quick question for you though...I have been riding with toe clips or clip less pedals for years and would not be without them especially at higher speeds like you showed in your review of 30mph. Do you ride with them on your e-bike(s)? Thanks...Ed

Hi Ed! Great question. Neither of us use clips although we both had them on our traditional bikes. Paul used toe clips and speedplay pedals over the years. He says he has thought about putting clips on his ebike but doesn't feel it is necessary. You don't need pedaling efficiency like you do with a traditional bike. Of course, it's a personal preference so you may prefer them. Happy riding and great idea for your wife to have an e-bike so you can go together.

Loved your video on Juiced bikes. We are seriously considering them. Two questions, just for fit. Paul would you might sharing your height? What size is your red bike? Thank you. My wife is 5’ 7” and I am 5’ 10”. In your opinion, Would the Medium frame work for both of us? Thanks...
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
Paul is 5' 7 and I am 5'8. Your wife for sure is a medium and you are right at the cusp of medium or large. Measure your inseam and then use this chart from Juiced to see which one is right for you. It will depend on how much of your height is in your legs but most likely you will want the large. Look at the "Size and Fit" on this page: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FJ3VC1X

Thought you might want to know- I ordered 2 upgraded chargers for the bikes in sept of 2023 and they have not come. We misplaced the stock cheaper ones and thought it would be nice to have an upgrade since we had to get new chargers anyway. They contacted me because I mentioned it in one of their ads on FB.. They said they would give us another upgrade and send them out and customer service would contact me. That was exactly one month ago. No chargers and nothing sent. When I contact them on the messenger they used I no longer get a person, just an automated message promising to contact me but they don't. I can probably buy generic chargers on amazon but am VERY disappointed in Juiced considering they took the money right away on paypal, and still have not done anything.

Your Crosscurrent x vs the Ripcurrent s? Race, torque, comfort, capability.
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
The CCX is more nimble, lighter and will go faster. The RCS is more comfortable and more versatile. They both have the same power. The rip current is basically just a fat tire version of the crosscurrent. The Rip is a more upright position. Commuting or in a hurry = CrossCurrent. Exploring and trail riding = RipCurrent.

Im very interested in ebikes but im leery of the bike getting stolen OR components of the bike getting stolen even if the frame is chained to something solid.do u thread the chain through the wheels? what about the battery? i see it can b removed from the bike. can it b locked onto the frame? and i wd b interested in putting some type of stacking wire cage on the rear carrier in order to transport groceries; like say 4 full bags of groceries. the wire cage wd have to be welded onto the back to prevent theft and each 1 ft sq cage to have a door and a lock; just like a locker. but i dont see any ebike offshoot place offering that...and that wd be 80% of the reason that i wd get one is to get grocs...hmmm...
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lauren! The bike and/or components would likely not get stolen in broad daylight in front of the grocery story. We just put the hardened chain through the frame, not the wheels. We leave ours out at night in campgrounds. If you have a garage or some place to put them out of sight overnight, that would be better. The hardened chain steel lock we mention comes in smaller sizes as that would be too big (6 feet) and heavy to lug with you. You can remove the battery BUT you need a key to take it out so no worries there about leaving it with the bike while at the market. I see people attach a milk crate to the cargo rack. Not something I think people would steal. Don't know how to attach one, maybe industrial zip ties??? Good for you for thinking of all the possibilities with an ebike. Other than the weight, we really see no downsides. I think the Juiced CrossCurrent would be a good one for you if you are using it for grocery runs. Think of the gas you would save! And it would make grocery shopping fun. Four full bags would likely not fit so you would just go more often. More fun!
@Lauren-vd4qe4 жыл бұрын
@@LizAmazing theres an interesting video called How to Food shop with an ebike which shows a curved base frame trailer under an upright square wire open box in which one puts quite a lot of grocs; but apparently the guy BUILT it so it cannot be bought somewhere? hmmm the wire box has a stretchy meshy net on the top not a closing wire lid but one can add one then b able to lock it im sure.
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
@@Lauren-vd4qe That makes me think of those toddler trailers- those would carry four bags of groceries. I am pretty sure they are compatible with the Juiced CrossCurrent bc someone asked about those on our video. Still, I would double-check.

Hi U-2 ....Liz.. How did you like the RipCurrent compared to your Luna ebike ? You Guys are so right about the EBIKE shortage right now with the covid deal thanks now .
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
Hi John! The Luna is a much more powerful bike, but after a few months of ownership, I found that owning a high-performance bicycle is a lot of work. Have to replace the chain ring every few hundred miles. I would not buy the Luna again. But I am keeping it (for now). I want to be able to lift my bike by myself and unfortunately I can't lift the RipCurrent, which is 65 pounds without the battery.
@johngoodwyn82464 жыл бұрын
@@LizAmazing Have you reached out to Luna and see if they will replace the chain ring i have heard there customer service is pretty good ? Or knot...
@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
We have found them to not be so helpful, unfortunately. Paul had to switch out the chain ring in the first place. We both think that chain is going to break one day due to the popping. Thanks!

@LizAmazing4 жыл бұрын
Your best bet would be to call your local bike shop, but I really don't think you'd have any issues finding someone. And, these rarely need servicing. Just keep your chain lubed and we recommend Slime in the tires to make them more resistant to punctures.

Sure any e bike dealer can service it. To tell you the truth, before I received mine I was gunshy about the same thing but, familiarizing myself with the unit and anything you want to know is on youtube....it's pretty easy to find your way around the bike and it's components. Thank you. How old was that post? Juiced got overwhelmed with orders at the start of the pandemic, like all ebike and regular bike companies. We have heard for the last six months they have enough inventory and are shipping them out the door ASAP. We also like that they will actually tell you on their site if a bike is in stock or not. We've heard some stories of other ebike companies taking your money and THEN telling you it will be months before you see your bike.
