It really is fun. It’s just a cool feeling riding your bike along structures that were built over 2000 years ago and seen so much history plus it’s very pretty and an added bonus to get away from the crowds.

I also saw Jack Sparrow but he rode off on a scooter before I could talk to him.

Cool! Better than Rick Steves. I would love to see a vlog on all the places shown in one of my favorite movies: Roman Holiday. All the best.

it's so crazy the way Rome has historical sites falling out its ass. This road would be the most significant cultural site in many countries and yet here they have lorries using it for day to day transit.

Hmm .. it's like riding a camel - it looks like a good idea before you set out, but you start to regret it after a few minutes :) We hired e-bikes from the beginning of the Appian Way (the place shown at 6:23 ), but the route became impassable due to the nature of the road surface, so we turned back when the 'manageable' cobble stones ran out (9:27) - there is a dirt track on the side, but there is a constant stream of bikes and walkers on it. We went on a Sunday when there is supposedly no traffic - I'd hate to see it on a regular day! BTW there is no way I'd attempt riding in central Rome. All in all it wasn't an enjoyable experience, which is a pity, as we had been looking forward to it. Saying that, though, afterwards we walked through the park to the Furio Camillo district where we found a great little family-owned trattoria called Trattoria Dari, which was probably the best restaurant we went to in Rome - not only because of the food, but also because of the friendliness of the owner and his wife. So every cloud ...

Well you sum up travel very well. It's not if is going to rain, it is how you are going to handle it.Sundays are actually the most popular for Appia, most other days are relatively quite.

What if we wanted to stop at the catacombs? Does the bike rental store have locks that go with the rental?
@RozierRoma7 ай бұрын
Yes they provide locks and helmets and you ride past 2 of them
