Yes, Instant mode is a way to increase your level of stimulation on the fly. I use it for boundary training, when my dog starts getting near the road I call by command "here" if he does not listen i will continue to increase the level until it's enough to stop him from entering the road and he comes to me. This helps by using using lowering levels of stimulation when the dog is in a semi-relaxed state of mind (without using the BOOST). If Bo is not working, hunting or anything just oblivious to the master & being hard headed. Example: If Bo is wondering around, I call him and he looks at me and keeps wondering this is how I get his attention if the working level is not doing it's job. I try not to use boost very much unless it's absolutely necessary . His working level is 8 and his boost level is 18 I can get Bo to respond at about 12 when he is being hard headed. Also it keeps from confusing Bo on recall I use normal working level for this. I want him to know those area's are off limits not just a recall. I hope this helps

i have a 902ez. Want to remove one to simplify to a 900. but nothing blinks no matter how low i press the program button. Anyone have any clues?

What are the benefits of instant mode? I do not understand what instant mode is for and what it does. Could you explain?

+ml cal Instant mode can be used for various training situation. I personally do not know all the methods used. I personally use the instant mode for boundary training. When my dog starts to go near a place that is of limits like the road or real dense wood. I switch to the Instant mode and slowly increase the level until he turns from the area. I do not want to confuse him with say a recall correction, he will just come back recall. With the instant mode he learns that the specific area is not a good place to go and will avoid the area. he may look around but not go into the woods or road this will condition him over time. There are area's like this now my dog will not go into even with the e-collar off.

Mine is a two dog unit. Right now my screen is flashing the 1D and 2D and no stim is going to the receiver. How do I fix this?

This is probably the worst manual I've EVER encountered for a product. There is absolutely NO MENTION of the 3 o'clock position anywhere in the manual. Pathetic. I'm returning the product on that alone. They should call it the FU- Educator 900 because that is what the engineers of this interface did to their consumers.
