This updated and upgraded E-flite® EC-1500 Twin 1.5m features a ground-up design optimized for capability, versatility, and FUN to deliver a flying experience you simply can’t get with any other airplane! It’s effectively many airplanes in one, with a wide flight envelope that includes slow and scale-like to sport flying and even aggressive 3D aerobatic capability. The twin power systems feature brushless outrunner motors with custom five-blade counter-rotating propellers - including updated design bolt-to-the-motor prop adapters for easier and much more secure prop installation. This setup delivers excellent performance with a 3S 3200-6400mAh LiPo battery, or you can install a 4S battery for the power to hover and unlimited vertical capability - without modifications or upgrades! Plus, the motors are matched to an exclusive 40-amp Spektrum™ Avian™ Dual Smart ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system-related telemetry data with Smart and non-Smart batteries via compatible receivers (including the AR8360T installed in the BNF® Basic version) and Spektrum AirWare™ equipped transmitters. The BNF® Basic version is equipped with an AR8360T receiver to provide full-range, real-time telemetry data, including battery voltage, ESC temp, and more - plus differential thrust and motor reversing for special ground handling and other capabilities - along with the benefits of AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies. This 8-channel receiver, plus selectable-size ailerons and functional flaps that can travel both ways, also makes multiple wing configuration options possible - including “crow” and/or full-span aileron/flaperon/spoileron setups.
There are eight factory-installed servos, including metal-geared servos on all of the control surfaces plus the functional cargo door so you can carry and drop creative payloads from the large cargo bay. Realistic-looking LED landing, navigation, and simulated strobe lights are powered from the flight battery so you can fly from dawn until dusk - from paved, grass, or dirt surfaces; off snow using the included skis; or from large ponds and lakes using optional floats (sold separately). Remove the magnetically secured nose cone to install a GoPro® or similar camera for recording aerial HD footage or mount a separate FPV camera on the large top hatch (cameras/gear sold separately). Plus, you can use the included decals to customize the now fully-painted gray finish with Ohio Air National Guard, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, and other markings to personalize your model! I recently placed an order from Horizon Hobby on a replacement fuselage, the online order went fine no problems. Then seven days later when I was expecting my part I get an email from them stating there was a problem with payment on my side which there was not. I would guess and say, cost, for us and them. As 6s would rip the nacelles out of the wings, they would have to modify the airframe to handle the power. I think the plane is a bit $ as it is, though I am going to get one.

0:32 what are the radio settings to pull off this stationary rotation? One motor must be full forward, the other full reverse thrust. I have yet to see any of the reviewers do this, just curious if the stock configuration allows that much differential/reversing?

Actually nothing special really, just put into reverse thrust mode, give it a bit of throttle and full rudder and she starts to spin. The main thing is the surface it is on needs to be loose (like dirt) other wise there is too much traction on the wheels and it starts to tip over. ~Tom the video dude at HH

The EC-1500 V1 or now V2 never had them. You might be thinking of the HK C-130.

@@cwwisk no worries. I do like them both, they each have their own attributes. The HK C-130 is a looker, has retracts and flys well. I think I'd prefer the EC-1500 for quality, spare parts and versatile flying modes.

@@HorizonHobbyProducts I guess I feel like the small amount of people who want one of these for 3D flight could create a lighter system, but engineering a retract system to work on something like this is something that is not as simple as manufacturing lighter, fixed landing gear. "Simplicity" is not a benefit to anyone but a way to turn saying, "The manufacturer didn't feel like taking the initiative to finish their product." and turning it into a sales pitch. Maybe someone can change my mind on that line of thinking, but I doubt it.

Yh well sea planes are fun and cool but they have their place right like not every plane has to have floats and be able to do vertical I'd prefer a cargo plane with less power and without floats just cuz it's more a cargo plane If I wanted a float plane I'd get the twin otter

We typically release upwards of two dozen new airplane models each year, from ultra micro to giant scale, from trainers and STOL-capable models to warbirds and jets. Around half or more of those are ALL-NEW designs, and the remainder are usually NEW updates/upgrades of previously available models. We try to "sequence" them so we don't announce/release too many updated/upgraded versions of previous models in a row, but that's not always possible...especially for the last few years due to supply chain and other challenges caused by the pandemic.
