Nice video sir! I sure hope we see more of these smaller warbirds

I completely agree. I’d love it if they would throw some retracts in as well. But yeah, it’s nice to have a couple planes you can take to the park and not scare all the moms. 😂

My UMX Air Tractor does that strange oscillation. It only does it to one side. It’s pretty strange. But doesn’t really affect my flight, so I just ignore it.

The 1 m and larger P-51 is not a beginner warbird for anyone. In fact, it’s one of the most difficult. 1. Ground handling. The P-51 has MASSIVE left torque. It requires very careful use of elevator, gradual right rudder, and gradual application of throttle to achieve a straight takeoff. Taking off properly with a P-51 is an art. If you try to take off like a Timber with a standard size (1 m or larger) P-51 it will crash. 2. Landing. It must be flown all the way to the ground. Speed must be kept up at all times. The tapered wing of the P-51 is very prone to tip stalling. Landing it is also a work of art. 3. A beginner must understand that SAFE does not turn a warbird or other hot plane into a tame trainer-like plane. A P-51 is maybe a good second or third warbird. A much better choice for a first warbird would be the E-Flite 1.2 m P-47. It combines the stability of the 1.2 m T-28 and the maneuverability of a low wing warbird. Its elliptical wing gives good stalling characteristics. Another good first taildragger is the Flightline 1.2 m F8F. Same as the P-47 in terms of being gentle for your first taildragger warbird. Also, please understand that the full size warbirds were not really meant for heavy aerobatics or prolonged inverted flight. The T-28 could not hold inverted flight for long. 4. Lighter is better. It’s best to use lighter batteries l. You will get shorter flights but the wing loading will thank you. 5. The 1 meter P-51 looks like it does not have a lot of taper; this is why it looks more forgiving. The 1.2 m one has almost scalelike taper so it’s not forgiving. 6. Scale planes, in my view, look much more beautiful and majestic when flown like their full scale counterparts. Example…the 70 mm T-45. Big loops that slow down at the top, like the full size one. Moderate roll rates. Wide turns. Long, flat landing approaches. Same with the P-51.
