Hey guys, okok let's take it positively. First, we all agree that Kissin is one of the best players in the world and of course he has performed many times in fast and normal dynamic. I think this version can be a good reference to those who practise this concerto showing it slowly and clearly. Actually I've been practising this for a year and it helps me a lot.(I am a just amateur with no lesson) We neee to appreciate the legacy we got and also to him.
@dr.christianhartmann66102 ай бұрын
...take it positively, because there are pianists who turn this and other works into an acrobatic "gallop race" and some listeners are even thrilled. I want to exaggerate a little: Rachmaninov can actually only be interpreted by Russian pianists because they can empathize with Rachmaninov's thoughts in the music....

Experimental tempo with opening theme, but mostly normal throughout, one of my favorite pianists; sometimes his note perfection performance psyche seems to hinder spontaneous musicality, almost to a point of being too careful.But what a brilliant tactile keyboard artist, close to human perfection in the complete piano composition genre. Consider the stress on the artist with the reputation of perfect note renditions, and mostly successful; probably a favorite of recording engineers 🎻🎹 Tried the last Ossia cadenza, fiendishly difficult up to tempo.

The opening theme is not supposed to be a funeral piece. Rachmaninoff's tempo is much faster and gives a whole different meaning to the opening. It is annoying that pianists these days all destroy the theme in this way. Because it is a simple theme in a single note octave they think it has to be played like a dreamy nocturne, which is wrong. Listen to Rachmaninoff's own recording.
@Michachel5 ай бұрын
I agree that it feels too slow, however I think sometimes it is nice to experiment with what we already have in order to express what the pianist wants to convey instead of the original creator. There are many recordings at the intended tempo so I do not believe we have lost it in a new age, but we instead are exploring new ideas.
