wow so great getting an Indian interpretation and explanation of this novel thank you sooo much! forester was part of the virginia woolfe very liberal scholars group named the Bloomsbury group who opposed Englands colonialism in India and all other countries so Forester was brave in telling the british public in 1924 that all was not well in india and that they should consider leaving india to her own self government

I took an English novel course at Seoul National University graduate school in 1973. I read this novel, "A Passage to India," and got an A grade point. ㅎ ㅎ My professor was Dear Baengnakchung.

The instructor states 15:01 that Prof. Godbole is not perturbed by events...But he is very emotional when he misses the train, knowing this is "not auspicious" to set out on such a journey on a Tuesday, according to his Hindu beliefs of rules, etc.
