Ketra: you need to leave the plastic shroud that covers the ematch on. This shroud is roughly 1/4" in diameter. You will need a solid brass punch honed to a point that is 1/4" in diameter. Push the brass punch through the side wall of the cardboard tube into the black powder lift charge. Push the shroud & match head into the lift charge and secure with a piece of tape. (Don't forget to short or shunt the two leads of the ematch prior to doing this). You can purchase pyro tools just for this purpose at pyinthesky.com.

I'm not sure if you will get this message based on how old this video is, but say in a scenario, I'm preparing for my show. Would the proper steps be, shunt e match, insert e match and tape it securely to shell or cake and leave it shunted untill I plan on putting it in my module? Once I'm ready to do so, unshunt it and place in module and then proceed to turn my fireing system on and prepare for fire?

Yes Zachary, you are correct. Shunting the e-match leads is the first step you should take. You would not unshunt the leads until everyone and everything is clear of your devices and you're ready to insert the leads into your modules.

@@jonkelley82 Thanks so much for replying back. When I have the match shunted, is it fine to just have the ends just laying on the ground, separate from the other wires untill I'm ready to put them in the modules? Should I tape the ends to protect them from any outside source just laying on the ground? This will be my first year e firing and iv just been overloading myself with information. Don't want to blow myself up.

@@zacharykoedyker3978 We leave them wrapped up as they come from the factory. If they need to be unwound for working/matching purposes then we wind them back up when the work is completed. Each match is usually accompanied by print-out address labels indicating device, location, module # & cue #. We leave them like this until it's time to attach them to their respective terminals/modules for continuity testing. The shunting is the important part here as means of preventing premature detonation from static electricity. The winding just keeps everything neat and the site clean and stops workers from tripping over match leads and pulling them out of the device. You don't want a mess of spaghetti wires on the ground and sort through them to make sense of it all. Unwind each one individually and attach the leads to their respective address, then move onto the next match. You can absolutely use tape for labeling or if you find it helps keep things tidy.

@@jonkelley82 Thanks again for the info. I guess what you've told me is the missing info iv wanted to get. Plenty of videos and info how to match a firework. Plenty of info on how to set up in the module. Not much info for the inbetween. I guess last question and this is a super what if maybe? But is it possible that once I have all wires hooked into there perspective modules, and I go to power my fireing system on, is there any chance for a premature detonation just by powering on the firing system? When I say power on, I do just mean turning the power button on. Not pressing any numbered cue button to its numbered module if that makes sense? Im using the p12000 if that helps. Not ready to invest in a cobra or anything else super expensive untill I get the feel of a begginer system.

@@jonkelley82 Also curious if you ever had any premature detonations, and if you did why did it happen and what did you learn from it?

Hello, i need multiple electric matches connected to a trigger/button, i don’t want to fire them simentaneously but in succession. Any suggestion how to do that? I also want the matches to be inside of the black powder load, not attached to a fuse, i want the firework to go off imediately.
@jonkelley826 жыл бұрын
MrQung You need to look into sequencers. Such as the kingdom 10 cue sequencer. These will allow you to program the interval between the cues and then it will fire them accordingly to the program. Matching directly into the black powder charge is acceptable as long as you use the proper tools and procedures. Check out my other video for more info.

Cool vid liked and subbed ya now i used the shroud to pinch in the fuse and hold it close to the match head i have been told thats a no no they that touchy??
@jonkelley826 жыл бұрын
hillbillypyro inwv Yes, they are friction/impact/static sensitive. You can stuff a fuse in there 986 times and be okay, but that 987th time you could inadvertently set it off. Next thing you know fireworks are going off in your face or inside your garage. You could also easily damage the match head by doing that and as a result the match wouldn't fire.

Thank you that touchy are they don't want a pod to go up early think i will test just how touchy they are and with them coming from china you never know no standard

I install that last outdoors lol

Are a e-match more sensitive than a ordinary match? If so, why?
@hillbillypyro6 жыл бұрын
From everything i read yes very touchy i had to hit mine hard with a hammer to set them off not saying try that lol they are restricted more for post 911 reasons than danger imo

I'm trying to use e matches on a single shot tube. Can you tell me how I would safely and properly insert the e match into the powder to launch it from a controller?
@sparxy19689 жыл бұрын
KetraMusic I'm not sure what you are fusing but it sounds like you are removing the visco fuse and pushing an e match into where the lift charge is. I would not advise this, just make the visco short and e match to it. You will have a short delay between ignition of the match and the shot but unless you are a pro firer to music this does not matter. Inserting an e match into the inside of a firework would be dangerous.
@stevebennion86015 жыл бұрын
It's not too hard. You have to buy a brass awl to punch a hole where the fuse is and make room for the e match. Leave the shroud on when you put it in to prevent friction. If you're not comfortable do not do it. Do more research than what I said and you'll eventually feel comfortable.
