I'd use tape on the e-match to secure it to the fuse so it won't fall off and it will ignite the fuse no matter what BUT I also have talon igniters. I'm doing a show for the 4th of July this year with safe and sane fireworks (Fountains) since I'm in California. I'm using a firing board so on July 3rd, I'll do a test show with talons vs e-match and see which one works better.

So which worked better?

I use only Talon ignitors when lighting fuses because much more dependable. I only use e-match when pulling the fuse and pushing the ignitors directly into the firework ( to get instant ignition)

I'm confused as to how you have the visco fuse connected to the regular ematch.. I've never heard one so loud and violent when ignited.. also ive never seen one shoot the fuse out with that kind of force... I've always slid the match cover off the match head stuck the fuse down into the cover then slid it back over the head pinching the fuse between the head and match head cover and get ignition 100 percent of the time without an issue and dont have the violent explosion like yours did .. I also get my match from Ebay and the talon igniter has let me down more then enough to were I dont use them. Technically the ematch is regulated by the ATF and isnt to be possessed by anyone without a type 54 permit though they do not seem to concerned with enforcing it

I don’t get why anyone would pay a shitload of money for extra wire length.. Can’t you just plug in a long piece of speaker wire with metal clips at the end or something, and attach the igniters to that? Cause that’s what I plan to do.

Yes, you can, but if you do this professionally, and have to rig up a few hundred of these things, trust me, it is well worth the money not having to crimp together bits of random wire to get to where you need to go, actually, you'd more often go the other way 'round and shorten wires if needed. Also, every time you crimp wires together, you run the risk of getting a bad connection, and then you'll have to trace the right wire and fix it, which can be quite annoying when you've laid down a whole snake orgy of wires. So, the fewer connections the better. And finally, if the difference in the price of e-macth wire length is what's breaking the budget, you're doing something wrong.

Absolutely. I do it alll the time like that. 24 guage speaker wire.

aren't you supposed to poke the e-match into the firework tube rather than connect it to the fuse?

e-match works better when poked straight into the tube and creates an instant ignition aswell.

you are correct if it has the port...otherwise can use connector if attach to fuse - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mF6zqKqAg9hmsLc

As long as you just connect to a dry powder surface, you're good. And, sometimes it isn't practical to submerge the e-match in the main charge, without ruining the structural integrity of the charge casing. But of course, there might be a timing problem if you connect to a safety fuse, and have a very tight schedule, but that's where your experience comes into play.

That's what I do with it, I put it directly into the tube onto the igniter thing. Since I do fountains cause I live in California, I normally cut the start fuse off and put the e-match directly into the fountain tube and secure it with some tape so it won't come out.

The reason you might not get ignition every time when e-macthing Visco, could be because the Visco is old or have absorbed moisture, try cutting off a few inches of your Visco before taping on an e-macth, that might fix your problem. Oh, and please don't build pipebombs, those bastards have a nasty habit of throwing shrapnel, better use a bigger charge than a harder casing, and be aware of flying rocks, they can be just as dangerous. Interesting video though, I've never tried Talon Igniters myself, I'll give 'em a try if I come across them one day.
