E-Scouting Edge Habitat

An edge is an area where two types of habitat come together. White-tailed deer prefer these areas and that's typically where their movements will be concentrated. Learn how to find edges using Google Maps or Google Earth in this video.

Finding edges and terrain is my first go to when scouting. One time I found a heavily used deer trail and followed it. It lead me to a corn field with several trails leading to and from. Followed it some more and found several bedding areas. One of the beds had a fully eaten corn cob next to it. Followed the edges even more and found a high traffic deer area and some light rubs on the other side of the pine woods. When I got done scouting, the deer trail basically went around the perimeter of the pine woods with a corn field and open grass field next to it. I set up a trail cam and sure enough it was a decent size 6 pointer.
