E-Type Restoration | The Final Episode | Ep7

In this, the seventh and final episode of the extensive series 1 E-Type restoration we get to see the colour sprayed onto the outer body of the Jonny Long Door, then starts the process of wet sanding and polishing the fresh paint for that mirror, mile deep finish. 😎

Brilliant work boys, just a thought you could possibly guide coat the panels after your intial 1500's , i've done this but only a few times it works . I also go up too 5000's if needed but i can be OTT 😅 . Have a great New Year.

Yeah that would work, we very rarely go through unless there’s a big old coat hanger in a tricky place 😂😂 yeah we tried 6000 before and decided it wasn’t worth the extra time and discs. 🍻🍻🍻

Amazing job by the team, really does look perfect. As someone doing a restoration on my own car, well as much of it as possible but where hand over the shell for repairs and paint, can you tell me how your price such jobs when taking them. Also, what are your thoughts on possible welding up a sunroof on a car where no roof skin as available ? Cheers

Cheers Brian, bare metal Respray are normally around 400 hour, metal work can vary from car to car, as for the roof skin you’d need one wheeled up and tiged in.

Is white not an unusual colour for an E type, I like it, as the dull green and blue colours from yester year, didn’t compliment that beautiful design!

No, old English white was on a few E-Types back in the day and the original colour for this one so the customer stuck with it, we’ve done a few gunmetals over the years 🙃

Good Morning . Superb skills and standards ( and brilliant camera work Stan!) l flatted my 'Jonny long door " down with a D.A and interface ( mine is retail red and also direct gloss . I just fitted door skins and spent days rebuilding the frames , so l was able to colour the skins before l fitted them . Was it optical or did l see a small dent in the o/s/r valance ? And the lower sills appear to be welded not spot welded ? And 2000 hours at £50 p/hr is one hellova lot of dosh ........and £50 is not an outragious amount . A lot of shops that do work of this quality would be double that . Have a great christmas guys !
