안녕하세요. 😀 질문이 길어서 요점만 말씀드릴게요. 이해해 주세요. 혹시 추가적으로 질문이 있으시면 말씀해 주세요. 필요(하다) describes something that is needed or necessary, e.g. 이 책이 필요해요. 필요성 emphasizes the importance or the necessity of something, e.g. 이 책의 필요성을 느꼈어요. 필요로 하다 (to need, require), a bit formal, 피터는 도움을 필요로 해요. 을/ㄹ 필요가 있다/ 없다 (there is/isn't a need to), 그렇게 할 필요가 없어요. 아/어야 하다/되다 (must, have to), 지금 숙제를 해야 돼요. 아/어야겠다 (should, ought to), 이제 집에 가야겠어요. 아/어야죠 (of course should, definitely have to), 당연히 가야죠. 감추다 has a negative connotation of actively trying to hide something from someone, e.g. 피터가 내 가방을 감췄어요. 숨기다 is used more broadly and doesn’t particulary have a negative nuance. 편지를 숨겼어요. 숨다 refers to an action that someone or something hiding itself, e.g. 그는 방에 숨었어요. 가리다 is used when someone or something covers or blocks something or someone, e.g. 구름이 태양을 가렸어요. 바로 (right away, immediately), 지금 바로 시작할게요. 꼭 (surely, definitely, must), 꼭 오세요. 반드시 (surely, certainly, without fail), it is formal and strong, e.g. 반드시 성공할 거예요. 자기 (oneself, self), informal, 피터는 늘 자기가 하고 싶은 대로만 해요. 자신 (oneself, self), more formal than 자기, 자신을 믿으세요. 개인 (individual, personal), 이건 개인적인 문제예요. 직접 (directly, in person), 직접 말해보세요. 일단 (first of all, for now), usually used among adults, 일단 이 문제부터 해결합시다. 먼저 (first, beforehand, earlier), used in both formal and informal settings, 이 문제 먼저 해결하자! or 먼저 가세요 (After you.) 첫 번째 (first, first time), 첫 번째 질문에 답해 주세요. Or 여러 가지 주제가 있습니다. 첫 번째, 동물, 두 번째, 환경, 세 번째, 물… 도움이 됐길 바래요. 😉

@@justlearnkoreanThank you very much 쌤 for the explanations and examples. They are very helpful ❤❤❤ I have another question regarding pronunciation: The pronunciation for 일단 is 일딴 but for 들다 is 들다 the ㄷ is not reinforced or fortified, is it because of the vowel next to ㄹ?
@justlearnkorean
@justlearnkorean 5 ай бұрын
@@shinbasco 저도 감사합니다~ ☺ There are several reasons why ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅂ, ㅅ, and ㅈ are pronounced as ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ, ㅆ, and ㅉ. One reason involves Hanja characters with ㄹ as a 받침 (final consonant). When a syllable ends with ㄹ and the next syllable starts with ㄷ, ㅅ, or ㅈ, as in the word 일단, the sounds of ㄷ, ㅅ, and ㅈ change. However, the verb 들다 is different. It is an irregular verb and doesn't follow any patterns that would cause it to be pronounced strongly. 질문에 대답이 됐나요? 😉

@@justlearnkorean 정말 감사합니다 선생님. Now, I see that if it's noun like 일단, 말단, 밀단, 불덩이 when ㄹ meets ㄷ, ㄷ is reinforced but if it's a verb (in dictionary form) like 들다, 갈다, 길다, 알다 the sound of ㄷ is not reinforced. ㄷ is only reinforced for verb in dictionary form if it's both ㄷ in syllable like 받다, 믿다, 묻다, etc. Is my understanding correct 선생님?
@justlearnkorean
@justlearnkorean 5 ай бұрын
@@shinbasco The sounds of 일단, 말단, 밀단, 불덩이 all change, but it's not because of the same reason. There are many different reasons depending on the words. Sometimes it could be just a combination of consonants or consonants and vowels or just vowels etc. So just be aware that the sound of ㄷ can change when it meets ㄹ (ㄹ + ㄷ). 받다, 믿다, 묻다 are a different case. Because it's not the combination of ㄹ + ㄷ. 받다, 믿다, 묻다 are pronounced 받따, 믿따, 묻따. Because when ㄷ is used as a 받침 and the next syllable starts with ㄷ (ㄷ+ㄷ), the second ㄷ is reinforced. 도움이 됐나요? 😀

안녕하세요 쌤. I would like to ask the difference between 진지하다, 진중하다 and 신중하다. They all mean careful. Another thing, which one I can use for serious person and serious learner. Thank you in advance.
@justlearnkorean
@justlearnkorean 6 ай бұрын
물론이죠! The words 진지하다, 진중하다, and 신중하다 are often used in Korean to describe someone's demeanor or approach, but they have distinct nuances: 진지하다 describes someone who is not taking things lightly (Serious or earnest in attitude or behaviour). Commonly used in both everyday and formal contexts.For example, when someone is serious about their work or a conversation, you might say 그 사람은 일할 때 아주 진지해요. 진중하다 describe someone who is thoughtful and careful in their actions and words (reflecting a mature and composed demeanor. More formal and less commonly used in casual conversation). For example, you might say 그는 항상 진중하게 행동해요. 신중하다 describes someone who is careful and deliberate in making decisions and taking actions. For example, you might say 그는 신중하게 결정을 내렸어요. Therefore, to describe a "serious person" and a "serious learner," 진지하다 is the most appropriate choice. Serious Person (진지한 사람), Serious Learner (진지한 학습자). But 진지한 학습자 doesnt' sound very natural. In everyday conversation, we prefer to describe serious leaner in sentences. For example, 매리는 영어 공부에 진심이야. 매리는 영어 공부 엄청 열심히 해. 매리는 영어 공부할 때 엄청 진지해. 질문에 대답이 됐나요? 😉

Is 에 acting as a comma when listing multiple things?
@justlearnkorean
@justlearnkorean 6 ай бұрын
Good question! I talked about this function too briefly. Sorry. 🫣 My answer is yes and no. It acts as a comma, but it's not just an ordinary comma. Because 에 emphasises every single item to support the main verb. '피터 소주에, 맥주에, 와인에, 술 많이 마셨어.' It's like 'Peter drank a lot. He drank soju. He drank beer. And he also drank wine!!!' Hope this answers your question.

안녕하세요. Can you help me identify the difference of the following when it comes to withdraw money? Thank very much. 현금을 인출하다 돈을 뽑다 돈을 빼다 돈을 찾다 출금
@justlearnkorean
@justlearnkorean 6 ай бұрын
안녕하세요~ 😀 현금을 인출하다: very formal 돈을 뽑다: informal, but Korean people also often use it in formal settings too. So I'll say it's the most common version, especially when referring to withdrawing from cash machines. 돈을 빼다: informal. It's not that common. 돈을 찾다: informal, it's as common as 돈을 뽑다. But it also indicates when we go to a bank branch and request withdrawing in person. 출금: very formal and you can see it on a cash machine, and in speaking, you can use the verb 출금하다. 도움이 되었길 바래요!! 😉
