Thanks. I'll be eager to hear "Ducktail" if only because my boot copy is so muffled. With better sonics, the song may sound more "finished". It's gonna be a nice package, this deluxe!

Ticking is a underrated track , ahead of it’s time in terms of the lyrics chronicling the story of a mass shooter and how he became that person.

A must buy for me, I love Caribou! I do wish they had done a "splatter" version, instead of the solid electric blue color. However, I am just happy to get this 50th anniversary! Thanks for the info and sweet poster btw!

Yeah, splatter-style (like the VMP "Madman") or translucent blue. Or black and orange splatter, to simulate Elton's tiger shirt.

Universal released an Atmos mix of GBYBR for the 50th. But I don't have an Atmos system, so it was a no-go for me. And yeah, something physical format would've been nice.

I most of all would like to see at least a 2CD format for the classic EJ 70s albums (like we've seen with Honky Chateau), but hopefully Captain Fantastic and Yellowbrick Road will be released as a super deluxe boxset. It would be strange if Madman Across The Water would be given the deluxe treatment and those two landmark albums will be overlooked. ~Marjet

@@margroningen “Yellow Brick Road” received the super-deluxe treatment in 2014; I wasn’t thrilled with it, but it was better than nothing, and the book was nice. And the BBC show was great to have too. A super-deluxe “Captain Fantastic” would be amazing, although there may not be much else in the vaults other than, say, some rough mixes. That said, I’d be surprised if outtakes from the “Lucy in the Sky” sessions didn’t still exist, even if they consisted of just studio chatter with John Lennon, joking around, etc. I wouldn't object to a new stereo mix of the album, if only to explore elements omitted from the original mix (perfect as it was). I adore Greg Penny's SACD 5.1 surround mix of “Captain Fantastic”. It's worth seeking, if you have a surround system and a machine that can play SACDs.

Hmmm...I've been seeing some pre-order info stating that LP 1 of this anniversary edition is going to be a tiger print picture disc (with a DJM label slapped on it), to match the shirt Elton's wearing on the front cover, while LP 2 is a sky blue pressing. There are even images to back it up. Either way, I'm looking as forward to this as the next Elton fan. Thus, I hope to snag a copy if my local shop gets it in for RSD.

Yes, I've seen the images. But for now, the only sites (that I've found, anyway) that say (and show) "tiger print" are third party sites. The RSD website said (and still says) nothing about tiger print vinyl, and the RSD site's official photo shows two blue discs. Its official description calls the release a "vivid double blue-sky-vinyl edition". So, for now I'm sticking with that, although the "tiger print" first disc is still possible. We'll see.

If only. I honestly don't think we'll ever hear any of the four Elton albums that Penny mixed in 5.1 but were never released. "Blue Moves" was the one I wanted to hear the most.

Great Job Matt gotta have it as a Elton fanatic, I wasn’t overly impressed with the Don’t Shoot Me Rsd release last year. But I’ll go on the hunt for this one. Rod Stewart had a hat that looks like Bernie’s pants I believe on his Smiler album.

I remember, as a kid in the '80s, going through some of the 1970s clothes my parents had saved. My sister was with me. We were only kids but we couldn't stop laughing at some of the things we found ("Dad, you used to wear THIS?!") Compared to '80s fashions, a lot of those outfits looked goofy. Now we look through photo albums, see ourselves in '80s and early '90s fashions, and laugh at those. ;)

Probably. At first I doubted that my local will get any copies, because the more obscure RSD titles seldom reach Canada. But then I noticed that the FDs 2LP will ship 3,500 copies worldwide. That's more than the deluxe "Caribou"! Fingers crossed for both of them.

The bonus tracks will be better than the original album. Songs like Cold Highway, Sick City, Screw You and Jack Rabbit that were recorded during the Caribou sessions should have been on the album while dropping some of the songs that were chosen. Caribou/1974 was Elton’s sexiest period. He looked cute, young and healthy. This was right before the drug use started.

Yeah, “Highway” and “City” are solid, and personally I’d have preferred the latter, at the end of Side 2, over “You’re So Static”, which I loved as a kid (especially the piano work on the outro) but now find kind of overdone. “Screw You” and “Jack Rabbit” were “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” outtakes/non-LP B-sides. I can see why the former didn’t make the album, but “Jack Rabbit” deserved a better fate, I think, and might’ve made the cut had the right place existed for it in the album’s sequencing.

Do you know why is 2 versiones of the RSD? One of them have a picture disc and the other 2 blue lps.

I almost mentioned the “tiger skin” disc edition in my video but I couldn’t get any firm information about it. The one photo of it that has appeared in odd places over the last two months was the very first image of the RSD “Caribou” that I saw, which was on RSD 2024 list/announcement day. But since then, nothing, and now only a very small handful of third-party online sellers show it. What’s even stranger is that, on RSD 2024 list/announcement day, the image showing the “tiger skin” pic disc first LP was traceable back to the official RSD website. And yet after a few hours it vanished, and since then - unless I missed something - there’s been no trace of it on that website. There was also a John Higgins article published on EJ dot com the other day about the forthcoming RSD release; and, unless I read it too quickly, it mentioned only a 2LP blue vinyl edition for RSD. Nothing about a “tiger skin” picture disc. I’ve a feeling that the image showing the “tiger skin” first LP was released in error and quickly withdrawn. And either it shows an early concept rejected for the RSD release; or it shows a legitimate edition of “Caribou” whose release we can maybe expect sometime after RSD? These are just guesses on my part; please don’t quote me! Either way, I don’t think that any of the RSD copies this weekend will include a “tiger skin” first LP. Both LPs will be blue.
