I had one of these about 12 years ago, a re-re kit. It's one I wish I had kept. I only ever ran it with the polycarbonate body, I didn't want to damage the abs body as it had come out really nice. That one looks good in the green. Oh dear I have just noticed a piece broke off the roof when it rolled.
@andyrobinsonrc24803 жыл бұрын
I think I should if used the lexan body as well but the abs body looks so much better especially when filming it. I found the missing bit that broke off and glued it in place , looked ok ;)
@TachyonDriver3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, Andy! This video was a great surprise even though I knew you'd feature the Brat on channel sometime. It was indeed a pleasure to meet up and talk RC stuff. The Brat does look good playing in the sun and it's great to see someone else enjoying it! I'm sure the roof above the driver's door was intact when I left your house HAHA! (Did you find the bit of bodywork, assuming the rollover caused it??). A bit more info for the community (are you sitting comfortably?). I'm not sure what the colour was, but I think it was from Halfords or maybe a Duplicolor rattle can from the local car parts place (owner retired quite a while back now). Whilst I wanted to use the Brat trim stickers, I didn't want to go box art red. I tried my hand at painting the driver figure with some washes and drybrushing and I'm quite proud of how he turned out. The white plastic on the roll bar and front "bull bar" is faded from just being sat on a shelf for ages catching some occasional rays... and dust! The front suspension is slightly more forgiving than stock as I cut about half a coil or maybe one coil off the front springs (there's one for each side housed transversely in a tube at the front of the chassis IIRC). I saw the mod from somewhere on youtube. If you haven't done so already go full send on a bit of smooth tarmac to see how respectable the Sport Tuned motor is on the stock gearing (so many people overpower Tamiyas on 3S which is not what these buggies are about IMHO, not that there's anything wrong with people doing what they want with their own cars!). Hey, an extra win for you getting an ST motor for your Striker :D :D Take care, buddy!

Hi Mark , yes I had a good time with you and it was great chatting RC with you for a few hours. I found the bit that fell off the roof when it flipped , and it was fixed when I got back, but I was a bit livid it happened though. That green you used has been a bit of a hit with people as well Mark ;) speak soon fella

Nice Subaru, i did build my rere but i have not done the body yet as i am scared doing the abs body. What motor/gearing did you use there? Was driving pretty fast... i did put a brushless into mine but i am for sure going to put back some tame brushed motor in it, i dont eaven want to know what happens with 17.5 brushless in that car.
@andyrobinsonrc24802 жыл бұрын
Hi Schutt. To be honest a 17.5 brushless on the low gearing with a Nimh battery would be ok. The brat in the video was a sport tuned motor with middle option gearing abs a nimh pack. I agree though the hard bodies are easy to break if your not careful. Cheers for watching and enjoy your Brat.

Hi Andy, hope you’re keeping well my friend. I’ve just finished my Subaru Brat, actually love the car. I’ve notice, when you accidentally rolled the car,there is a piece broken on the roof area. Shame, as the colour really suits it. Take care, keep well and all the best 😉😊😉
@andyrobinsonrc24803 жыл бұрын
Hi John, I was gutted when it flipped over and it broke the window frame, although it’s all fixed and repaired now, colour seems to have been a great choice as well. How are you finding your brat? Do you like it? Cheers

@@andyrobinsonrc2480 hi Andy, hope you’re keeping well. Glad you got the Subaru Brat repaired. I’m really enjoying my Subaru Brat, although I’m running it with the polycarbonate body, don’t want to scratch up the resin body. For the age of the chassis design, it really does run and handle well, absolutely loving it. Take care, keep well and all the best. 😉😊

Nice one Andy. I believe the original Brat whilst not having a differential and only a 380 motor did have a central bell crank steering arrangement such that both steering rods where the same length for equal steering geometry. This must have been something Tamiya thought unnecessary on other models. I’ll see if I can find a picture of it….
@andyrobinsonrc24803 жыл бұрын
Cheers Dave , I think your right I know alot of people moved the servo central though especially if using an Esc and not a servo to operate the MSC, it’s always good if you can get equally length steering rods

@andyrobinsonrc24803 жыл бұрын
Cheers Damien, mark the previous owner made a nice job of it. I don’t mind running on gravel but expect to clean all the dust out of every nook and cranny :( I think it worse on hard ABS bodys though as the paint/ finish is on the outside. Cheers chap
