How do you manage up? If your manager is struggling, Thanks.

If your manager is struggling, managing up is even more important. Communicate frequently about what you plan to do, got done, and need from them. Sometimes, people think they should just learn to operate autonomously/independently if their manager is struggling. While there is value to that, communication still matters if you want to be compensated (salary, bonus, promotions) fairly and your manager will have to push and argue upwards to make that happen. If you operate too independently, they can accurately and persuasively advocate on your behalf. The last suggestion I'll make here is to learn how to give upward feedback. There are some overall best practices but it is also important to learn how your manager best responds to suggestions/feedback. Hope that helps :)
