It is a JCW muffler, the flatened Y-Part was introduced with the facelift variant in 2004. The cabrio was new with the facelift and the muffler must fit there too. The cabrio has a bar, which needs this extra space.

Looks like Dorman is the pre facelift style cable. I just ordered a genuine right side. And Febi left side.

When someone swapped out the back exhaust they welded it to the manifold, so you were gonna have to swap it out anyways. I totally understand cutting the header, I would have too considering how much rust you have there. Plus the last person to work on that car sure took a lot of shortcuts.

What would be wrong with my 2003 mini cooper it will not go into 5th or reverse? Do we not have the cables right or what
@RegardingAutomobiles10 ай бұрын
This is after replacing them? One moves forward and back, one moves side to side. If you can’t hit 5th or reverse it’s likely an issue with the side to side. Also check out episode 30, I talk about a tiny plastic piece in transmission side of the shift linkage that can wear out and cause problems.

Great video! Cannot seem to find the part you used though. The only thing I can find is a solo cable. Not the whole assembly. Where did you get your parts from and do you have the part numbers?
@RegardingAutomobiles3 жыл бұрын
Had to order the two cables separately. Rockauto had the Dorman 905621. The other I had to get right from BMW. Oem part 25117548431. I reused the box assembly.
@devacds Жыл бұрын
The cables are the same ? Or is there a difference between them? Lenght? Etc
@RegardingAutomobiles Жыл бұрын
They are not the same. One has a “mass absorber” on it. 25117547371 and 25117548431 are the two oem part numbers. I got the Dorman 905621 instead of the oem 25117547372.

Is it the same procedure for an automatic?
@RegardingAutomobiles2 жыл бұрын
It is not. No shift cables in an automatic.

@@RegardingAutomobiles do I need to do anything under the hood or is it just everything is under the car? I mean, inside the car as far as shifter, then under the car to remove for screws connected to hear shifter and exhaust and shield of course?

@@RegardingAutomobiles Im in Australia so getting parts is murder, and your local dealers are reluctant to ship here, but thanks anyway
@RegardingAutomobiles3 жыл бұрын
There seems to be people in Latvia that get parts cheap at a BMW source and ship them through eBay (to Canada anyway). May want to check them out.
