None of you know anything about animation I can tell. It's perfectly valid to say that 60fps can make a programmed animation look worse. There are tons of KZbin videos from animators that explain how less frames can add the illusion of snap or weight to a movement. If you turn a 2 frame punch into a 4 frame punch, it'll look lighter and, ironically, slower.

@vholst8 жыл бұрын
Your guess is as good as anyones with lighter (smoother? floatier? The fuck does weight have to do with choppier performance and input/visual lag!?), heard the cinematic tagline and it's bullshit. I love Bloodborne, but going from 60/120/144 fps back to 30 fps is bloody painful. It sounds like she's hasn't tried it, doesn't care or repeating what she's heard on it. More FPS is objectively better, subjectivity (outside of a very few specific examples like South Park: Stick of Truth) be damned.
@Diego92Souza8 жыл бұрын
Vholst yup.... most likely repeating stuff other people copy and paste on the intewebz...
@pastyloser74138 жыл бұрын
To be completely honest with y'all... I kind of understand. Or at least I think I do. I have both a ps4 and a gaming PC. Generally I aim for 100-144fps. But I rented Bloodborne recently and had a lot of fun with it. Yes, its framerate is ass-shit. But I did actually feel like it added to the ruggedness of the universe. Imo, the thing to complain about in that game isn't the framerate (so long as it stays between 24-30) but the general low resolution and lack of AA. But that isn't the game's fault as much as it is the PS4s.
@vholst8 жыл бұрын
I'm not denying Bloodborne isn't fun, my platinum trophy earned solo is a testament to that, and it drops frames at certain spots when there's too many mobs dying at once. It takes getting used to to play again because of the lower FPS, but also the camera, because every boss is an enormous blob and the camera will give you whiplash all over the place. And you're right (also an odd choice of Draw Distance makes entire structure poof into existence), if it was released for PC, it would have been an amazingly gorgeous game.

The video game industry is the prime example of collection of companies headed by people who have no actual understanding of their target demographics, hence why their E3 live shows are like a cartoon character representation of what they actually believe their clients want to see and are waiting for. Maybe once the folks who actually grew up with video games are old enough to take over their CEO positions this'll be different. But it won't be nearly as hilariously sad any more.
@sk8erbyern2 жыл бұрын
yeah, most of the comments calling these people "awkward, nerd" etc. completely miss the point. Most of the cringe literally comes from professional "normies" who found so much success doing normie stuff but suddenly it is cringe when it comes to a game show? Why? Because this time it is the normal people who are out of their comfort zones. They bring in famous normal people who have no idea about videogames into these events and they are all cringe. This does not happen in e-sport events because the production talent teams are generally all directly involved in the ecosystem.

Every time I see these massive presentations with bands and whatnot gimmicky bullshit, I can only think that the organizers seem to know next to nothing what gamers want to see. 2015 "Sir, we need to decide on the main musical performer for E3 2015 now! We have a couple of good candidates, most of them performing video game music from classic NES games to modern times!" "Nah, Johnson. Let's go with CHVRCHES." (not that I have anything against them but it was a really odd choice) 2016 "Okay, sir. Last year's musical choice was divisive. Maybe this year we can choose one of the video game themed performances?" "Johnson, I have already picked the best choice possible. It will outperform even last year's mega hit!" "What is it, sir?" "The San Francisco Clown College Glee Club!" "Sir... I hate you."
@HenkkaArtGames8 жыл бұрын
Why I'm not surprised that E3 is organized by ESA (Entertainment Software Association), the same people who make the yearly "essential facts/state of the industry" booklet that catalogues how much and what gamers play, apart from actually making any sense in their statistics, putting in the same pool people who play free mobile and Facebook games as well as people who own dedicated gaming systems and PC and buy $60 games.
@STAHLBETON7 жыл бұрын
Well, e3 is not for the gamers... It is for the press, not the consumer.
@mw002957 жыл бұрын
HenkkaArt So they should choose manchilds that live in the basement as presenters? What do you mean they don't know who gamers are? Gamers range from casual players who spent little time playing games to hardcore esport players. Musicals, jokes, celebrities - it attracts people to gaming industry making it bigger and bigger. Don't watch it you are such a PRO HARDCORE GAMURRR.
@HenkkaArtGames7 жыл бұрын
M1W1 I don't think I said that they couldn't have musicians, celebrities as presenters and whatnot. I said that their choices are awful considering the nature of the event itself. There has been very few E3's and other game industry shows that have not been embarrassing from start to finish. But hey, you do you. I guess there are people who enjoy completely out-of-place musical performances, bad hosts such as Joel McHale and more.
@miguelpereira98597 жыл бұрын
M1W1 No. Only the "hardcore gamers" (I don't really like that term) watch and follow E3. Do you think that the casual crowd gives a shit about E3? This is what companies like Microsoft didn't understood, take their cringy Kinect presentations. Henkka is right, the people organizing these conferences have no idea who their audience is or what they want. As for attracting more people to the industry, I also find that very unlikely considering that, again, those people are NOT the ones that watch E3. Bethesda 2015 and Sony 2016 were really good, for example. Although they weren't perfect still had a fair share of cringe, it's definitly how these types of conferences should be.

@suleimanthemagnificent448 жыл бұрын
Actually she's not far for from wrong, she just worded it badly. Seeing a 60fps cinematic movie might feel odd for some people because its so smooth to the point where it breaks their cinematic immersion that they were used to in movies, it's like that time where people found it a little odd seeing 60fps in youtube when it was first integrated. Paying the game at 60fps is another story, that is indeed way better than 30.
@Unicarn52798 жыл бұрын
She'd get used to 60 FPS after one play session, so it's not a valid argument. I remember going from a slow TV to a faster TV (I don't have the exact speeds of them, sorry) and playing Little Big Planet 2 in 60 FPS on my PS3 (surprising, right?) and it looked weird. Got over it in a few minutes.
