Ains Ooal Gown "Eins" (like Einstein), Ool (like in Pool), Goan (similar to Tone, Bone, Scone, etc) Ains Ooal Gown is the name of his guild when it was a game and his friends who created those NPCs. He chose to introduce himself as the guild name instead of his character name Momonga.

He's not in a Video Game, those aren't NPCs anymore. This is a whole world he's never been in even though his entire Guild Hall from a video game called Yggdrasil and all the NPCs were transported to this place and somehow made sentient, and he too, in his game character's body was transported and made real here in this world. He has access to magic and stuff like his character would, and all the items and their abilities are his to use that are in the guild hall, but he has no access to any video game mechanics that would be there if it were still a game. Btw Yggdrasil is the name of the world tree in Norse mythology.

i will still suggest dub because dub of this anime is exceptionally good and there are some quotes and dialogues that you can only enjoy in dub plus you'll be able to grasp it better. However both are good and you should decide for yourself. You can try watching next episode in dub if you are comfortable with it more than sub then you can continue it if not then just continue the sub. I'm gonna be here anyway no matter what you choose 😂.

Seconded! The dub is great in Overlord; I actually have a hard time caring as much for the Japanese VA in this particular anime; they aren't bad at all; I just find I prefer the majority of the voices in the english and I have a few voices I don't particularly enjoy in the japanese so english wins out for this particular series. Also I feel because English is my native language listening to detailed political descriptions, kingdom names, and general politics (which Overlord is filled with) is much easier to track in English.
