2020, was a year full of atrocities and the most horrifying of all was the whole lockdown situation that came along without any prior notice. As sudden as it seemed, a lot of changes started happening whilst our individual lives and around the world.
In this situation, several things changed for me as well and I realized that in our everyday life we are literally the same but we choose to keep ourselves busy with something even if might not add meaning to our lives. This could be a side effect of staying in a city like Mumbai, where the lifestyle demands that, where every day you have to keep yourselves going, NO MATTER WHAT.
But in quarantine, I realized that focusing on something that adds that meaning and purpose is really essential for your growth. That very moment when I was struggling to find a nudge for me to start working on my art again, Beyoncé came up with her film “BLACK IS KING”.
I was literally smitten and started wondering about the impact the movie had on me and at that very moment, I got immensely inspired to create something of my own.
At that point, I had no clue what would it be but it opened my vision to several unseen sides that I couldn’t see in myself. And if we really put our heart, soul, and sweat into something, it really opens the gates to make the impossible really possible.
As the seed had been sowed in my head, to begin with, something, I was utterly skeptical of how will this turnout and had absolutely no confidence that I could really create something like this.
The whole journey finally began with sharing the idea with a friend Rishabh Puthran (Goga) and he immediately agreed to be on board with me. Special props to my family, my crew members: Tanuj, Lily, and Kartik for believing in me.
When you see the video, it looks like a 4-minute video with several locations but it actually a piece of my heart that I finally wanted to show in terms of FASHION, DRAMA, THEATRE, AND MOVEMENT.
I was supremely grateful to have found the right people who could work with me and make the outcome look like how it is. It literally took us 3 months to get where we are.
Through this, I understood it takes real courage to fetch that one voice in your head, and NO MATTER WHAT, even if it makes you put in self-doubt for some time, YOU SHOULD JUST GO FOR IT.
That’s what I did and it landed me to one of those few things in my life I would really be proud of.
Find your inspiration and go for it, because there’s no right time because the TIME IS NOW 💕
