Peter Molyneux demonstrates the combat system of Fable 2. Your ability to swing and strike with rythm dictates the amount of experience your awarded.

Peter Molyneux believes what he's saying, that's why some of his games *are* great, and some of them are disappointing. But they're all unique experiences, unlike a lot of series today, where they're all the same. No ground is broken, no risks are taken.

100% I miss having people like Peter around. The guy was just way too passionate for his own good but at least he tried to push games in directions they had never reached before. Pretty much everything after 2013 has been safe and boring besides a select few games that try to push the boundaries like the golden age of gaming did (1996-2011)
@chrcoluk

to be fair fable 2 was a pretty decent game and you can tell effort was put into it, fable 3 however felt like it was made because it had to be made. I think the reason a lot of people dont like PM's pre release presentations is they often dont become real in the final game, so in fable 2 the dog was nerfed alot in its features and this scene showed in the demo was never actually in the released game. Other dev's are guilty of similar things tho, in DA3 inquisitions the devs showed a burning village where you had the choice of making it survive or be destroyed and then that would impact the rest of the game, in the released game that entire event was removed and no such option given to the player, similar in bioshock infinite as well.
@riproaringanus
@riproaringanus 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah but there was usually a very good reason for why content gets cut. It also exists in some way before it got cut. PM was known for making features up on the spot and promising them as already being part of the game

The BIGGEST mistake Role Playing Game developers EVER made was trying to make RPG's for casual gamers. RPG's by their very nature are the opposite of casual gaming, and to try to make it casual would be to take away from the RPG elements, which means you are taking away from YOUR CORE fanbase. The developers and publishers are just so god damn out of touch with reality it's unbelievable. Thank god we have devs like CDPR who actually knows what makes a good RPG.

I like Peter. Sure he exaggerates and downright lies at times, but I think he honestly thinks he/his team can achieve the goals they set out to do. Many game developers just keep hush hush about things hey weren't able to do/finish (Kojima for example), but at least Peter has Enthusiasm, Passion and somewhat of a love for what he does. Yes it's bullshit at times, but I think there isn't any malice in it. After all Fable: TLC and Fable 2 were great games.

I see his intention, but the way he goes about it is pretty bad. The way you make a game like this accessible for hardcore as well as casual gamers is by designing it in a way so that multiple play styles and styles of combat are possible and viable an there are many ways to do this, from a sort of talent tree-based system to maybe have the way you fight depend on your weapons (kinda like what Guild Wars 2 does) I still enjoyed Fable 2, but for a large part that is because the character customization is pretty decent and just as I did with Fable 1, I enjoyed exploring and hunting for legendaries without using guides.

I think the guy is criminally misunderstood. I have always just seen him as a passionate gamer that loves what he does, but too much for his own good. Maybe he shouldn't have been as much of a public figure as he was, but he always tried his best to follow his visions, regardless of if he could end up reaching them or not. I do miss having the guy around, but mostly because I just really miss being able to look forward to new Fable games coming out. I hope the reboot can bring the franchise new life as well as live up to it's legacy, but it's strange to think about Peter not being a part of it, because to me Peter and Fable were just that synonymous with each other.

Fable 2 - He thought the reason you can't die was because your suppose to be the strongest Being in all of Albion. However your choices will determine what kind of person you are, just like in Fable 1 and Fable 3. Fable 3 - He won't remove the dead-Alive reaction, but there will be more combat in the game, it's quite powerful. There must be alot of skills on here not like Fable 2. Still your choices will determine how you use your power, for good or evil, corrupt or pure. Get the game - 3!

"What I'm trying to do is create the greatest role playing game of all time." The lack of detail and customization really draws it away from the RPG genre. It seems more fantasy and it is not as open ended as most RPG's. The Elder Scrolls are quite easily the best RPG's ever. This game is great I must admit, but this is, as he admitted, too easy. I hate how easy the game is and it was too closed I felt. There was not enough freedom.

The first and biggest mistake he makes is trying to please everyone. RPGs, at least true RPGs, are popular only in a niche crowd, and we are not 'greedy,' we just have certain expectations regarding depth of gameplay, story, and character interaction, all of which are rather shallow in this series. Fable is fun in small doses, but the series lacks depth and is more fantasy action than actual RPGs.
