There are metal gears people make to replace the shards that once were plastic gears. A guy "Shogun" used to do it mail order for E32/E34 rear sunblind rebuilds, and a search on ebay shows there are metal sunroof gears up to order now. Isn't it great to see how BMW engineers identify and fix things in earlier models, and not propagate the exact same problem with the exact same failure mechanism 10 or 20 years down the line

Right! I was able to find gears for other models but not the e39. Hope this one lasts.

Did you manage to fet the tune sort dor the new intake system?

I did get it tuned. I went with a Stage 3 tune from DUDMD.com.
