I think that the bushing was put in reverse. The notch in the bushing should point towards the front of the car, not sure how much this matters, just something to note. Otherwise this is way better than dropping the diff completely. Thanks!

is it much easier to remove case from differential to get to the bushing, than to remove whole differential and other parts?

First video I've seen where you DONT have to drop the damn diff - how did the front bushings hold up to the side to side movement of that socket being in there? Only part I'm weary about to not tear my front's

bimmernation tx fair point. Wonder if I could unbolt the two fronts, and let the diff rest on the carrier or a jack, and then bolt back in afterward.

Seth Feingersh u won’t be able to back the bolts out enough . Without removing the front subframe brace. U will run into a lot of trouble that way

bimmernation tx removing the brace isn’t bad - still not as much of a pain as having to drop the diff

Yes. new cover paper gasket is required.

@@beamervision Where do you source new e46 rear diff cover paper gaskets? They seem to be no longer available at most places. Is there compatibility with some other model diff cover??

@@beamervision i dont find any gasket here in Germany and its pain in the as.. if u use fluid sealant because the differential is still installed so u have to seal it perfectly

Might be a good idea to cover the open diff so metal shavings don't go flying in there
