It was a turn key 10 second car when I sold it. Amazing build. Did 694whp on a Dynocom Dyno in summer in Maryland. Ran 131mph in the quarter without meth in the summer heat. Alex’s wagon is SO SICK!

It would be cool to see IATs and power numbers at the same boost levels. I think the bigger intercooler helps the weistec kit at big boy boost levels. That is my old Weistec car and it was running over 22-23 psi with a big fuel system and a very fat/safe tune and still went 133mph in the 1/4mile on a hot July night

From my experience the stock charge cooler is inadequate even in stock form, the entire system actually, do a few back to back runs on any stock M113K car and it’ll go into limp mode from high IAT’s, the VRP kit is very nice and modular in that you can add components as you go but retaining the stock charge cooler was a bad idea imo. The Weistec kit is a better design especially in the cooling department but it’s getting old now, I like what VRP is doing but they need to find a solution to using the stock charge cooler, yes they have external coolers that replace the surge tanks but it totally changes the look of the engine, if you’re aiming to keep things looking relatively stock it’s a no go. Either way it’s awesome to see companies still supporting this aging platform and I hope that never changes!

Some guys are converting the stock intercooler to single pass with bigger inlets/outlets and I believe a slightly larger core can be adapted to the stock case as well.

In regards to trying to ascertain what is causing the significant power difference between the two cars....one item you mentioned in the beginning, that I would think has a significant impact on the power output, is that the Weistec car also has Meth injection...that, combined with the ostensibly more efficient intercooler, would make a huge difference in and of itself.

Love these cars and the Weistec Whipple Blower. Anyone considering buying or modding one of these do yourself a few favors as the Achillies heel is heat soak / high IAT's. First, make sure the cooling system isn't air locked and know how to fix it (very simple) by bleeding the lines. Second, your first modification should be water / meth injection before any pulleys, headers, heat exchangers (h/e's they help with cooling recovery not driving IAT's). I had a FBO with dual pulley set-up 168 crank and 77 CLUTCHED pulley set up and on 0-140 pulls the IAT's would stay around 70 degrees. Finally, don't do a fixed pulley. Does nothing from a performance perspective versus clutched pulley and due to the fact they are always spinning the engine is always hot.

being that its winter in chicago coupled with lots of other factors other than the cool air...most of the info is hard to present in simple way, that won't bore. Cars were let to cool down to 20-15 degrees above ambient not running, then ran till heat soak, with was in the 140's for both cars. So the runs were at done to similar iats. the differentiation was Alex's car, like all stock blower e55 cars did that in 1 run once engine was warm (above 145 coolant temp). where the weistec car could run 3 or so runs before it ran similar temps. but the cars made best power on the first run. not surprising given the stock intercooler on alex's car.

We have not! There are some forum posts about turbo kits for the E55 - the story usually goes something like "we've got the turbos and intercoolers now all we need to do is develop the tuning" and then nothing else ever gets posted to the thread... Anything is possible with enough money and patience, but the cost of R&D for something like this would be hard to justify when there are already great supercharger offerings dominating the aftermarket.
