How to play the intro for Charley Pride's version of New Patches on E9 pedal steel guitar. This song is in the key of Bb. * At 7:17 I mistakenly say, "Go back to the 13th fret." I should have said, "Go back to the 11th fret."

Dear Dave, Your phrases for Just call me Lonesome gave me great pleasure and I am greatly beholden to you for helping me so much; transposing the key fro E to C made the solo sound perhaps a little strange, but I took the easy way out by just shifting it all up by a few frets. Charlie Pride was a baritone and your work on his New Patches is attractive; I may try giving it a go. Thank you very much once again - Tim.

Thank you very much. Similar harmonies was a subject Jeff Newman greatl insisted on, and it is an eyeopener for the player becoming acquainted with the steel. I did not know Charlie Pride's song but shall pay close attention to it henceforth, thanks to your talent.

Love this song. Nice lessons.... Great stock 1511 intro to have in your bag. Your Emmons looks like mine what year is it? Mine is a 1981. Wonder if this was turner of Sanders... Doesn't sound like mike Johnson to me

Your C pedal also engages 5 on an Emmons setup.

Yes. The C pedal raises strings four and five a whole step. That’s very typical of both Emmons and Day setups, except for Day the pedal order is reversed

Charlie was a natural, a true gentleman and original. Quite an accomplishment for him. Do you know who played steel? Good to hear from you Dave and mahalo for the cool lesson.

Allmusic lists three steel players on the Music In My Heart album: Mike Johnson, Robby Turner, and Scotty Sanders. I'm not sure which one played on this song.
