I've had this nightmare for 5 years at least, I have never solved it and even with this video it was a challenge to do. Hanayama are sadistic puzzle makers, and bloody geniuses as well.

I don't feel like the puzzles require brain though, just patience and tolerance for frustration. It's not like you need to figure out complex thought processes, just find the right angle. Are all of the Hanayama puzzles like that?

For me, this one is to difficult. More difficult than dial and ufo, which can be solved by thinking. This one has to many options, it's frustrating. I think, it had been constructed by a robot. Only very clever people, with good frustration skills, can make it.

My impression of the Hanayama difficulty scale: 4 - Easy once you know the solution 5 - Difficult, but doable after you know the solution 6 - So difficult that I still don't understand how to solve it _even after seeing the solution!_

Except for the 6 that takes 30 seconds to solve... NEWS. My labyrinth and Equa are far more difficult at level 5

i feel like some of the "difficulty" comes from poor manufactoring or cheap gimmicks more then the puzzle actually being difficult, at least for a few of them. Labyrinth for instance, even if you know the exact solution, and have a diagram, actually getting the 2 pieces to slide properly is a nightmare. meanwhile NEWS is the simplest dumbest thing in the world once you crack it and see the mechanism and its like "oh. the difficulty is that you don't understand the internals. but now that you see the system it drops from a 5 to a 2."

Solved this without knowing how a while ago, (the first part) Then when trying to put it back together i did it completely wrong and realised i needed to take it apart again and start from scratch, couldn't get it apart again so i had to turn to this, got it apart in about 10 mins. And then... somehow.. I managed to finish the puzzle in 60 seconds on my own. THANK YOU SO MUCH (:

I PERSONALLY FOUND IT MUCH EASIER TO JUST GRIND DOWN THE LITTLE NIPPLES ON THE INNER RINGS WITH A DREMEL TOOL. I HOPE THIS HELPS !

The luckiest puzzle I've ever done... Literally had no idea that one part was thinner but somehow managed to pick it. The box mine came in says it's only a level 5 but for me it deserves the prestige level 6 status.

Man this puzzle was rough for me. Took me 9 hours, and even then I wasn't sure how I did it. Just lots and lots of vexing fiddling. The intended solution is so subtle as to almost be unfair.

Mr. Puzzle, I need your help. I'm stuck for 2 days at a position that I can't get the pieces out. The Equa piece is on the right thin cage bar, but other piece is on the right bar, but upside down. The first Hanayama puzzle I ever got as a present for my birthday. I managed to solve it those years prior multiple times back and forth but since then I forgot how I was doing it and now I am looking up this tutorial because I don't know how to put it back into one piece. xD

took me two days, granted i didnt do it all day everyday, would mess with it, then put it down, id say a collective 2-3 hours... The screwed up thing is, my dad took it and solved it, put it back together, and brought back to the exact spot i had it at... But needless to say, this one is by far the hardest of all the hanayamas and my personal favorite (along with the vortex and elks)

Ok I have weird issue here. I know how to do this, I understand the mechanics and did it twice. But 2nd move, when you have hanayama ring out on the thin part and you rotate the other ring so it can come out next to hanayama one. How on earth is it possible to turn the 2nd ring this way? Its filling the space fully and I cant slide the peg into other room so it can turn! I can twist and wiggle both but no way its right. I see it done here so easy yet I cant replicate that turn. 4:45-5:15

I solved this puzzle in 2 completely different ways a few times but I could never do it consistently, although this video is rough and the instructions were not great it was enough to get me to solve the puzzle consistently, now it takes like 20 seconds to take apart. I feel completely cheated by one of the edges being thinner, I never noticed that, that must've been why my own solution was so inconsistent.

I think I found another solution, but also on my puzzle, the glitch solution does not work. I was able to put both rings on the same (thin) rib by putting both rings at a right angle to each other. Then after some fiddling and turning around that rib I was able to remove one ring.

Just a note - I have gotten one of these puzzles in December 2018, and I think it may have been redesigned. It's now rated a 5 out of 6, and the beginning moves that Mr. Puzzle shows here don't seem to work. You have been warned.

I own 13 Hanayama puzzles. This is the first one that I have fucked up so badly I cannot reassemble it. First of all it took me three days to solve this WITH the solution video playing each time. That's how much of an evil motherfucker this puzzle really is. Then I reassembled it. Now today I took it apart (after much trouble once again) and now the two C-rings in the center will not separate. It's impossible to separate them because they were inexplicably reversed somehow as I was taking it apart and the notches do not line up on them. They absolutely will not separate. Frustrated, I tried getting them back into the cage part. One ring is inside, one ring is outside. The whole thing is fucking stuck and I am ready to check into an asylum.

Has anybody tried to solve the hanayama vortex puzzle? It’s a really tricky puzzle too but once you know how to do it it’s a lot easier. I have had this equa puzzle longer than the vortex one and have only managed to solve it twice in 3 years but the vortex one I can disassemble and reassemble within 1 minute. Now even after watching this video I still can’t solve the equa puzzle. Sooo frustrating 😂😂😂

There’s absolutely no way to get it back to the way it was before. My equa piece is on the small bar but the other piece is in the opposite quadrant so even if I bring it up to the top to try and pass over I can’t. I have no clue how this got here but I have tried for months to get it back and there aren’t any options 😂

I collect these puzzles. I don't like this one. I've assembled and disassembled it multiple times, but it has multiple solutions which keeps it from being satisfying. The tolerances are so tight that it binds frustratingly during the solution. Easily one of the least elegant of the hanayama puzzles (nutcase being my least favorite, and messiest of all of them).
