Because of their broken rank up system. In order to make more money they made the rank up system to require the same card to rank up. Which then they had to fix using the universal rank up cards. And earning those items requires you to grind the entire season just to get 1-2 mascherano’s. So it’s too hard to rank up your players.

Bro I'm with you but if u want the players to run forward they need to have high attacking workrates which u can check by opening the stats of the player and once the match starts on top right u will see three modes and the green colour mode which has arrow facing forward and backward is balanced mode the blue colour mode which shows arrow facing backward is defending mode and the red colour mode which shows arrow facing forward is attacking mode. If u want the players to make more runs and contribute more in attacking play u have to change to attacking mode and if u want the players to not make runs and stay in defensive position u have to choose defending mode and if u want the players to be controlled by ai meaning the ai will control the players when to go in defending mode and when to go in attacking mode u have choose balanced mode. This is based on my experience while using the modes and I prefer manually choosing the modes and to do that u need to remove ur fingers from screen then choose the mode otherwise if u keep ur finger on screen(moving players through joystick, clicking or holding) the mode will not change. Thank you bro for taking the time to explain! But I feel that the basic tactics of football even when the players are on balance mode should have players running into free space to get the ball. The player AI is broken that way. 2 players will run into the same space, or not take the run at all. It should not depend on whether or not I keep the tactics as attacking or defensive.

Just ruining the game - Removed Training transfer, Most free exchanges packs are filled with untradeable cards, Earning coins is tough, purchasing players to exchange is tough as most people can't supply because Untradeable shi- and TOTS is really bs it was great last year. Great video bro.

Its not like EA has made their work rates randomly, they have given them workrates according to how the players played in real life
