Batteries for the Syma X5C (852540) fit perfectly into the battery bay of the E58. Slides in/out, but a firm fit without needing a door or retainer. I soldered the same JST-PH female connector from the circuit board and ran it over top of the main board to the back of the battery hatch, exiting by the rear LED. Plug it in, slide in the battery. If I use an E58 battery, the JST-PH connector tucks up behind the rear LED. Thanks for the idea!

What's the best way to maintain these batteries. I have the e88 which is very similar and looks like it has the same single cell battery. First question are these circuit boards programmed to shut the drone off before it depletes the battery to zero. Regardless, when I'm done flying after the battery i cools down . Do I need to charge them. Last but not least when I know I'm not going to be using my drone for a while do I just charge it up to 40% and check it every now and then. Well I don't have a way to tell if it's charged 40% but I figured I would charge it for 30 minutes just to give it enough charge so that it doesn't degrade. I guess bottom line I'm trying to ask what's the best way to maintain your batteries.

PD Tech My first quad had 7mm motors too and I could get around 8-10 minutes out of a 650 mah battery. You might be able to offset the weight gain by getting rid of the battery cartridge altogether and soldering a connection directly to the pos/neg leads on the circuit board.

That's an interesting idea I've never thought about trying that. As long as it produces somewhere between 3.7-4.2v I guess it could work but I think phone batteries are lithium ion instead of lithium polymer. Ion batteries have been made to work in very conservative flying camera drones but usually they can't push through enough amps fast enough for a quad.

New to this. How would you know which batteries are compatible with the original rating? I assume voltage has to be the same no matter what. can you get a battery with a higher mah for longer life? What else can differ?
@Blizofoz455 жыл бұрын
Just about all 1S batteries have a base voltage output of 3.7 volts. At full charge they'll be at 4.2 volts. That's what the E58 uses. There are some newer 1S batteries that go to 4.35 max volts that I wouldn't use but online vendors will always have the voltage listed in the product description. Here's a link to some cheaper batteries on Amazon have a higher mah capacity(longer flight times) that look like they would fit into the E58 battery slot: www.amazon.com/Battery-PowerWhoop-Connector-Inductrix-Quadcopter/dp/B077PRY7K3/ref=sr_1_14?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1545445090&sr=1-14&keywords=1s+battery

@@Blizofoz45 Thanks for the info. Quick question, when you mention base voltage output being 3.7, when looking at a battery in my hand saying "3.7 volts" would you say thats the base output or the full charge max? Should I be careful seeing how high it will go? etc.
@Blizofoz455 жыл бұрын
@@grantfu5506 Full charge should be 4.2v which translates to 100% battery life. 3.7v to me is more like the minimum voltage which basically translates to "stop flying now". Beginner quads like the E58 monitor the battery's voltage in realtime and will signal you to land at round 3.7v or it will simply land itself to keep from overusing the battery and causing permanent damage to it. In reality these batteries can be drained down to 3.3v but it's a bit risky to do that and I don't think the E58 will let you anyway. :)

The problem is when I try to start motors - they spin one time then the drone turns off immediately. I tried changing motors to 8,5mm, the probmels however persists. What might be the cause of this problem? I am sure its something with battery and flight controller. Can it be the battery not making enough Amps?
@Blizofoz456 жыл бұрын
Radek Holý The first thing I thought was maybe your battery’s voltage was higher than 3.7v...they probably make 1s batteries that big but they definitely aren’t common. Apart from that you might double check to make sure the battery is fully charged...the wifi, leds, etc don’t need very much juice at all to work.

😰...help please 🙏 Hi. I received an "E88 Pro" drone on Wednesday, and my separately ordered (different vendor) "E88" extra battery on Thursday. After finally getting the drone to start up, I messed around in my flat for a bit until the battery ran out. I then installed the extra battery (as I charged the original), which appeared to be the same as the original (3.7V 1800mAh). It looked the same, but was a very slightly tighter fit in the compartment. As it was fully inserted, the drone automatically turned on (and at an extremely high speed!), but without the lights. I hit the on/off button on the top of the drone, but to no avail. It didn't turn off until I pulled the battery out. I also detected a slight burning smell, which I thoug might have been the electronic circuitry or engine starting to fry. I tried it again and had the same result. When my original battery was charged, I inserted it into the slot, but the drone wouldn't turn on at all, not even the lights! Is there an issue because the "E88 Pro" and "E88" battery are different (the stats appear to be the exact same)? Do you think the extra battery was defective? Do you think the circuitry is now screwed? Separately, the drone was advertised as having a 2nd (bottom facing) camera, but the spot on the underside does not appear to have one in the opening. I'd be interested in hearing any comments/advice you may have regarding the drone/battery issue. Thanks in advance. Cheers!
@Blizofoz454 жыл бұрын
First off the bad news. It sounds like the extra battery was higher voltage than the drone's control board could take so it might be fried. Drones like this and re-branded E58's like the "Drone-X Pro" have been running scams for the past year or so. They claim 4K video and other features that are either highly questionable or completely false. The Chinese factories mix and match so many parts I could see where you may have purchased the wrong battery. The positive/negative battery leads could have been swapped to the opposite of the stock battery as well. Drones like this tend to pop on sites like Ebay and Aliexpress. So here's your options: Buy another E88 and don't try to use that spare battery with it. Just use the ones that came in the box. Buy a Eachine E58. That's surest fix and Bannggood has it marked down to $32. They also carry every spare part imaginable for it. Buy another toy drone and try to swap out the flight controller/motors. I've done that before myself but getting the motor plugs to fit into another flight control board doesn't always work. You would probably also have to solder the stock battery connector to the new flight controller. I've even gone so far as to buy a hobby grade flight controller and transplant it into a toy drone so I could fly it in acro mode, use a hobby grade transmitter for better range and fine tune the controls. It really comes down to your budget and whether you're interested in doing stuff like modding the drone via soldering and using some different parts. Modding drones can be alot of fun if you can work through the hurdles.

@@Blizofoz45 ...first off, thanks so much for taking the time to send such a detailed response...much appreciated👍🏻👍🏻 FYI - I paid about $25 for the drone and $5 for the battery, thru Lazada (Thailand). The modular batteries both say 3.7V 1800MAh on the foil. I've read that often these batteries are really only 500 or 600MAh. Do these batteries even really come in 1800MAh?🤔 I suspect that as you suggested, there was a defect/problem with the extra battery that I purchased (different vendor) and that it did some damage to my brand new drone😢 I've tried to return the items, but am not having much luck so far. I'm not technically or mechanically inclined, so I won't be swapping out bits and pieces and soldering anything🙃 I guess it'll have to be a write-off, other than having some spare parts should I once again order another one. Lastly, what's the main difference between the (Eachine) E58 and E88? Thanks in advance!
@Blizofoz454 жыл бұрын
@@kap925 Really the only difference between the two is the styling and the spare parts available for the E58. It uses a 500mah stock battery which gets you between 8-10 minutes flight time.
