I did the same but as I went to unplug the battery my pinky was just a little bit too close to a prop and just like that there was blood all over my room. I beg you to not be as stupid as me. Ps. All my throttle values was at 0. You can not trust your quad to be idle during an ESC calibration.
@melvin35094 жыл бұрын
I dismounted all props, and it payed off! During receiver configuration after a few minutes of playing with the little simulation, suddenly the motors started to execute my controls. They went wild, so I had to unplug the battery. When I plugged in again, same thing happened after a few minutes. That was the first time I realized taking off props is not a joke. Kinda shocked, because I never took it seriously before

Thanks for the tips. I have 3 comments: 1. Instead of setting board orientation to 270 Yaw degrees, I have set *GYRO and ACCEL Alignments to "180 CW"*. This alleviates calculations done at the software and the MPU6050 chip will do this at the hardware level, saving some cycles. 2. How about adding some *RC and Yaw Deadbands*? I use deadband of "4" for my X9D+. 3. I flashed my board *without going into bootloader mode*. All I did was to enable full chip erase, manual baud at 115200.
@JoshuaBardwell7 жыл бұрын
Using Gyro and Accel align instead does save cycles, you're right. Deadband is only needed if your transmitter gimbals are jittery. FWIW, I have never been able to do #3, no matter what I tried. But I just did what you described and it worked, so who freaking knows?
@fyresg7 жыл бұрын
My X9D+ and FlySky i6 transmitters are jittery, and would benefit from having deadbands. I've watched your video on the Halls Effect gimbals, so I guess you have them on your transmitters and therefore not requiring any deadbands. But it might be useful to highlight adding deadbands to audiences who do not have good gimbals. I wasn't aware of the need for the bootloader trick so since a long time ago, I have been updating my all my Naze32 and SPR F3 boards without going thru the bootloader. I do get failures, and like what you have described in this video, I resolved them by setting the correct baud rate, or I have to click "Flash Firmware" for the second or third time.

mrtwisty, as explained in point #1 of my comment, doing so saves CPU cycles and reduces processing load. Do you need it? Maybe, maybe not. But think about it - there is really no harm with this setting, while at the same time it improves efficiency.

I have an odd problem. After a minor crash, I had a motor lagging behind. It didn't want to spin up as fast, and on punch out, it would definitely lean to the direction of that motor. I purchased extra motors when I ordered the drone, so I replaced the motor. Now, when in acro, and I punch out, it rolls over. It doesn't do this in angle. Im beginning to suspect the problem wasn't initially the motor in the first place. But what else could it be? A failed ESC? But it still fly's fine, just not with hard acceleration. Any ideas?

was going to make same comment, SPRF3 flashes just fine in regular mode every single time- with manual baud (but I'm using OSX, so I guess windows is the problem, as is so very often the case) Quad pilots should use a mac. All this driver trouble I see on the internet :(

Thanks Joshua. This "RTF" was anything but. The good news is that making the adjustments to get it to fly taught me a lot. I was having a great deal of difficulty controlling it so I also reduced each throttle curve setting by almost half. The 100% settings were a little too tight. One of the most informative video's on you tube! Only thing that could add to this video is add the RTF Flysky transmitter and show setup using it. Not knowing Betaflight and the Flysky tx it took me many hours watching video's trying to get everything set the correct way. Setting the vacant switches and getting them to work correctly was a challenge. One reason, I wanted the Arm switch. Next I had to figure the different on off for my 3 position switch because I still need angle and horizon. And the most time consuming was finding out why the motors spun without throttle. Air Mode, who knew. Eachine has sold thousands of these and after viewers see your positive feedback the wait list will be 2 months instead of the 1 month I had to wait after I paid for it. Thanks, Thanks, THX!!!

Yah. Every single SP3 I've tried flashing without putting into bootloader first "bricks". It's not truly bricked because you can flash it if you put it into bootloader, but the config is lost. There definitely are other boards where you can simply hit flash and the GUI will put the board into bootloader mode and flash it with no additional action.k

Thanks, Josh! Great tips, you were a big help with setting up the wizard. It's a little scary that it's marketed as an ARF, yet the pre-programmed Betaflight doesn't have the board aligned correctly? Yikes. That could be bad for someone who is unaware. Also I will second, third, and fourth the recommendation to always work do your setup with PROPS OFF! Wow i only have read half your video and i just had to say something! I have been flying quadcopters since they were invented and have at least 20 transmitters. Yes suddenly things changed. Now comes BNF no transmitter, a receiver of many types to choose from, which one? etc etc .. and now beta flight and clean flight, and just too much all at once for an old guy. I have a FuriBee F90 Wasp which i have never flown yet. It doesnt bind with any of my transmitters. I plugged it into beta flight and no joy, nothing even works and beta flt doesn't recognize it. I am considering the X220 and will purchase it thru your youtube link and probably will have to get it RTF and add another flysky duplicate transmitter to my collection. Your video is amazing that it begins to explain these sudden changes to the entire system, which seems to allow one to purchase a quad and correct receiver to link somehow with one of your existing transmitters, if i understand this correctly and maybe just reading your great video will help this 75 year old to understand how this all comes together. Happy Flying GrampaKenCanada

Interesting experience with betaflight 3.1.7. I could run calibration with multishot but NOT with oneshot. Under oneshot the slider would not slide up and down in the GUI but everything worked just like your vid using mulitshot. After I was all done following your vid, I then upgraded the ESC FW with the BLHELI config tool. So I'm running mulitshot 4k/4K calibrated. I have not tired a re-cal on the newest ESC FW. Thanks

If I may give a small tip to newbies like me. Have a switch with 2 options: "Fly" mode (acro/rate WITH air), or "Land" mode (angle WITHOUT air). You just need to setup the mode AUX-rates correctly. No need to have Air permanently on... Now you can take off and land, a LOT easier. Gain some confidence. Try landing in "Fly" mode later on, after you developed basic skills. Also, look into having a Headfree toggle switch for line of sight flying :-)
Great instructional will be very helpful to refine some of my wizard setup. Thanks a lot for doing this one Joshua.

Hi @Joshua, I think you get it wrong at 2:45. You instruct to move the servo cable from IO-2 (next to uart-1) to IO-1(next to uart-3). That did not work out for me with SBUS. However the exact opposite moving the cable from IO-1 to IO-2 did work. I see now in SP3 FC manual that IO-2 is for serial rx.
proud of you buddy,you just saved me by this video

+Chris Fitzsimmons the drivers video is in the cards for this one which you can access by clicking the 'i' in the upper right. Bit I'll add it to the description too.

Hey Josh, I have a spracingf3, and I never have to physically short the pins any more, since like betaflight 3.0 maybe, I'm not sure. One thing I have found to almost always have a successful flash, (really always for me since doing this but I hate to say ALWAYS) is manual baudrate 256000, and this is what's made a big difference, don't connect before flashing. So if I have been in the config at all before I flash, I unplug the board and plug it back in making sure it doesn't auto connect. Since doing this practice its always flashed no dfu mode, and not failing making me have to short the pins and go to dfu mode. Can't remember the last time I had to short the pins. Just a heads up, try it next time you have to flash an spracingf3, and really I do the fresh plug in on all my Flight controllers anymore and I can't tell you the last time I had a failed, or had to short the pins on any of them. Anyhow, happy flashing/flying!
