Your comment about east coast of USA is interesting. Perhaps, there are some legal problems? An "underexplored region in the US" sounds totally weird to me.

Currently the is little exploration activity along the east coast USA. The federal government owns the rights beyond about 4 miles off the coast but since 2010 there has only been limited political support for pushing on with exploration. From a subsurface point of view though the margin has great potential in the age of modern seismic.

@@juliahodgson2811 It would probably be interesting for you to look at the exploration history on the Scotian Margin. It is a rather complex enviroment for hydrocarbon exploration. A far bit of lateral variability due to mobilized Jurassic salts being influenced by the sable delta complex as well as rift related basement structures and complex gravity flow geometry.
