Wow! I watched so many of Dr. Osborne's videos on youtube, and I must say that he and his team are beyond amazing. Dr. Osborne should get the Noble Prize for performing miracles and saving people's lives. America needs more people like him unlike some of the greedy and selfish doctors out there who only care about money by aiding insurance companies and pharmaceuticals to rip patients off. As someone who has had 4 surgeries related to Eagles Syndrome, I can tell you that a) it was very difficult to find a surgeon willing to take a complicated case like mine and b) my case was further complicated by being post fusion for cervical stenosis and resulting unilateral vocal cord paralysis. My styloid was intermittently calcified so it took a while get all of the fragments but it appears like we got it -- finally. Thanks for Dr. Paniello at Barnes Jewish Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis.

I have eagle syndrome. Everything this guy said, I absolutely relate to. Dismissive doctors, far off appointments, and of course that deep, deep, suicidal dread. It took many months just to figure out what it was, I had multiple CT Scans and an MRI and they failed to see it over and over. Finally I made a list of all the rare illnesses it might be and sent it to my otolaryngologist and begged him to have radiology check again for them. I got word back that they discovered my styloid process' were twice as long as they should be. Then it took months after that to convince my otolaryngologist to give the go ahead for the surgery. As of the time of writing this, my surgery will be 3 days from now, on 1/26/23. I'm honestly terrified, a lot can go wrong, and it's a really rare procedure. There are no experts in styloidectomies. If you're reading this, please give comforting replies. I could really use them. I will give an update as to how the surgery went sometime in the future. EDIT: Update in replies

By now you have already had your surgery. I am wondering how you are doing. I am having my surgery on February 22, 2023 along with csf leak repair and jugular vein decompression. I learned so much from belong to support groups on facebook. That is where I got my surgeons name and courage to go out of state to see him. Prayers for full and speedy recovering for you and your quality of life improving 100%.

It is now 2/11/23, it has been over 2 weeks since the surgery. It went perfectly! The pain is gone, the wound is nearly healed, I can get back to my life. My main concerns involved the possibility of neuralgia, since the glossopharyngeal nerve is so close to the styloid, it is possible it can be irritated or damaged. Luckily what little nerve pain I did experience went away as the wound healed. I had also heard that this procedure might cause a change to ones voice or ability to swallow, I'm glad to say that I'm having no problems with either. Everything went perfectly. Recovery was a bit rough, swallowing hurt while the wound was new, I had a lot of nausea, the wound was pretty painful for a long time, the scabs hurt quite a bit when they peeled off, but all that is over now. I'm cured.

I feel his pain and I don't even know this gentleman, from Adam. I am a counselor, LPC and LAC trained and experienced in the fields of BH mental health and substance abuse. On occasions, I have had the privilege of working with a hand full of Vets suffering from PTSD or addiction; because of discontent or the lack of VA services. When I was a, novice, young counselor; I was under the wrong impression about VA services. Thinking Vets had services that were exclusively designed to focus and service their specific needs. I am disgusted to know that Vets are not given the creme de la creme of treatment(s) and sevice(s). He needed a treatment placement specialist, who would have researched the service that fitted his needs, but I've learned that speciality service is not a common service- unfortunate right?. Vets are treated like anyone on any given day at Walmart. They go to get specific things but the check out lines are long, a few cashiers are working hard to get you out quickly, some are working with a built in attitude and too busy complaining and or isn't really working at all; others are on personal phones calls talking boldly on the clock (stealing time) playing like they are working. And only a few (faithful few) are professional, and will go out their way to.show the item you were struggling to fine or was right there in front of your face. Why is that the case? I am so glad you asked, Because very few enjoy their job, very few are humble, and so when does it ever be about customers and their grocer experiences. Most employers don't care to know their employees and the employees don't want to know the person that pay them their pay check-the customer(s);; they just want to get their day done. I believe because they are not mindfully seeing or understanding the importance of their position(s). Not recognizing that every station in life has purpose(s) and is relative to helping, contributing, and impactin, to restore mental and physical order. Because ALL of our duties are to help search for a solution(s), and at the end of the day; It is not easy, and you may not want to take a risk of getting involved, because it a risk involved but for greater good - hopefully. The choice of practice by doctors and counselors are always to practice beneficent and maleficent, to do no warm, easy to say but not always easy to mindfully practice . So, thank you Dr. Osborne for showing a visualization of doctor's embracing the power of having a life or death situation in one's hands. Professionals like yourself are vessels for patients to poor their problems into and they, hopefully, be strong and humble enough; especially, when they appear to have little or no hope. It is our Job(s) and duty to restore and or build hope to the hopeless. But at the end of the day; everyone needs to be a part of the solution(s) of life's problem(s), not the cause. AMEN TO YOU Dr. Osborne, I wish I was on you Behavioral Health Team. Because there is definitely counseling going on in that facility and in everyone that engage with you guys are truly blessed. I would have given you my life too; because you are doing God's well. You guys have been, truly, anointed. I am in awe. This New Orleans counselor will be a regular reviewer and supporter. I've learned so much from you guys about being the best, professional, you can be. AMEN!!!

WHY can governments not take care of their veterans. Did they not risk....and sometimes lose....their lives to protect their country? These people have done so much and our governments disregard and disrespect them like they are a second thought. These people need full and proper medical care and they need their life and homes, they don't ask for more than they deserve. I’ve been searching for the right word to describe Dr. Osborne. All the other adjectives in these posts - yes, of course. But I wanted a word that encompassed the man himself, the man total. Got it: NOBLE. Dr. Osborne is a noble human being. Knowledge, wisdom, grace, kindness, dignity, empathy. Is he a perfect person? I certainly hope not! He is, however, a gathering of wondrous qualities. His patients, family, colleagues, and friends have a noble being in their midst. Be aware and be grateful. I’m so happy this young Navy vet found OHNI & relief from his pain. I and my 33-year-old son are USMC veterans, both service connected. My dominant hand was maimed & my kid came out with various ortho issues, deafness in one ear, a surgically rebuilt shoulder, and lung damage. We both rely on the V.A. for our healthcare. It’s a big, wooly, bureaucratic system. They do the best they can - but the fact of the matter is there are too many veterans with too many needs & the V.A. does a piss-poor job of retaining professional staff like physicians, surgeons, NPs, & RNs. Why? Stress, responsibility, & metric tons of bureaucracy for not enough pay & not enough resources to adequately care for millions of veterans. Low morale, burn-out, frustration. I feel bad for them. They DO care. I’ve had great docs & nurses over the years, & a few who weren’t so great. Nothing is perfect.

I had this condition and after 5 surgeries they finally got all of the ligament / styloid processes removed. I have elongated and calcified styloid ligament that reached my C8 nerve root - also causing glossopharyngeal neuralgia.

I’m a veteran who had been waiting for months to get a nerve study test on my arms and neck. My arms go numb and go to sleep all the time. I know something is wrong with me I can feel it and my life sucks right now because of the pain I’m in. I feel just like this guy did. Some days I do t want to wake up because of the pain. I wake up in pain and go to bed and bedding. Seek and upper cervical chiropractor specializes in helping neck and nerver pain. All nervers are controlled through the spine. But it must be an good one check reviews. Upper cervical chiropractor are not like regular ones. They focus on your top 2 neck bones to align the whole spine in place to take pressure off nervers.

If you really wanted to help the vast majority of veterans, you could make the greatest impact by working with the insurance companies to accept TriCare seeing as that is the what most have. I finally got diagnosed after years of pain… Doctors make you feel like you are making it up. I did surgery on both shoulders just with the chance it would help and had my tonsils out. I’m nervous, but excited at the same time. Get surgery in less than a month.

This is just unbelievable. Dr. Osbourne and his team have to be some of the best surgeons on Earth today, performing an operation this dangerous successfully. His explanation about how close the calcified ligament is to the jugular and the cranial nerve made me squirm, even Dr. Osbourne was reluctant to do it when a single wrong move could kill Shane. It's an incredible feat that he managed to pull it off.

I have suffered 4-5 years of my life due to eagle syndrome. I did a surgery about 6 month ago and the bone was taken out from my skull base. Due to damage to my facial nerves during the surgery I got bells palsy in my face and it took 5-6 month to heal about 90 percent. For the last 6 month i lived a painless life but now it has grown back n made my life hell again.

This is a wonderful story about this veteran I watch Doctor Osborne every chance I get I think he's a wonderful surgeon and his team also they do wonderful work and thank God that there are doctors that do that kind of work is a shame about the veterans having to go so long without seeing doctors they have done America a great service but yet they have been left behind it seems to me it's not fair to them to have given their lives and have come back from war and to be just thrown away like an old shoe they need to be looked after and taking care of just like they took care of us and it's a shame that they have not been shame on this country or letting our service man go to through the pain and suffering that they have gone through but thank you Dr Osborne for helping all the people that you have helped and your team you do a wonderful thing and it is amazing to watch you on Facebook at watch you and your team accomplish I would find it an honor to meet you and your team one day because I love watching what you do may God bless you and your team and may you continue to be able to continue your work 🥰👍👍👍👍

I watch all of Dr Osborne and Hamilton videos. I wish they were my Drs for my neck. I had neck surgery c4 to c7 and then a year later broke my neck at c1. All Drs way there's nothing they can do about that. I spend a lot of time laying flat because of this. I don't live anymore, I just exist. The pain is my life. I think Drs feel that I'm 71 and on my way out anyway.

I wish there were more details of symptoms and more illustrations of Eagle syndrome and how it obstructs/disrupts the throat and show how bones come in contact with one another.
