Nicely done Rob. I'd heard that Meisner had a crippling fear of singing Take It To The Limit live. He had trouble hitting the high notes and Glenn Frey told him he could quit the band if he didn't want to perform it anymore. Also fun fact- Frey was having problems coming up with a chorus for Heartache Tonight. He called up his friend Bob Seger and played the song for him over the phone- right then and there Seger came up with the now-famous chorus and the rest is history.
@NorthernRevolutions2 жыл бұрын
I had heard that story about Meisner. Fry and Henley are were/are such assholes. I did not know about Seger.

Hey Rob ! Right.. your number #7 I totally agree with.. Desperado would be my #2.. its strait-up country rock before the slick AOR meant to make lots of money, self admittedly by Don in interviews. On The Border #3.. " Already Gone" written by Jack Tempchin.. met him in LA, he wrote " Smugglers Blues, and Peaceful Easy Feeling, and Bernie's guitar work is copied by whoever performs it after him.. I like your ranking, mine is different, and I've been burned out on the song Hotel California since 1976 ! Great song, just a little cheesy, and I like your pick for "The Long Run " Cool video, always good to hear different thoughts on great bands ! Cheers.. JT

Ya I could do without hearing the song Hotel California anytime soon. Why does everyone talk about AOR like its a bad thing? Ive never understood that?
@jtsrecordroom39632 жыл бұрын
@@NorthernRevolutions Your right.. AOR is just excellent songwriting, I just prefer the homegrown country rock vibe of the first 3 LP's... for me, the rest of the albums.. half of the material is outstanding! And stuff like " New Kid In Town", and Life In The Fast Lane" are annoying to me... well written, and I respect that. My opinion, and music is personal, so I respect other people's likes, as well.. Countdowns/ Rankings are tough for me, but I like to take a try at them..

@@jtsrecordroom3963 ya I had never done a ranking before. They are so subjective. Ive been in several Eagles conversations lately so I figured give ranking a try. Really enjoyed this ranking video Rob. I learnt a lot about The Eagles and their studio albums. I only have HC, One of these Nights and On the Border. I must get the Long Run and I also love Heartbreak Tonight. Also, must say I love the way you did the graphics with the album covers appearing at the bottom of the screen, inspired! Great Video, Rob, thanks a lot. I love the Eagles but otherwise to the Beatles I never did a ranking for my own of their records. I am sure, my ranking would be different. The Long Run at No. 7, Hotel California surely in No. 1 and Desperado also higher... For the live albums I did an audio rip of the Farewell Tour 1 - Live from Melbourne DVD and this is my "to go" live album. Also a full show and including Glenn Frey still. Unfortunately I never managed to see this lineup live in concert. But I have seen the last line up with Deacon Frey and Vince Gill in Munich in 2017 ..or was it 2018?? ... one of the best concerts I have ever been. Such a terrific band and so many unbelievable good songs...

I love The Eagles especially when Joe Walsh joined the band. Don Felder and Joe Walsh are one of the greatest guitar duos of all time. My Top 5 Eagles albums are: 1. Hotel California 2. The Long Run 3. Eagles Live 4. One Of These Nights 5. Eagles

Cant argue with that top 5. I agree about Walsh and Felder. Walsh is my guitar hero. I wish Henley and Felder would end their feud because it would be awesome to see him back. Wont happen though.

@@NorthernRevolutions Joe is one of my guitar heroes as well. I was a James Gang, Barnstorm and Joe Walsh solo fan before I was an Eagles fan. Joe being in The Eagles made me check them out. Hey Rob… I enjoyed this video a lot.. I only own three albums of The Eagles ( I have the 1980’s live album, Hotel California, and the 1975 greatest hits ‘Their Greatest Hits’) I plan on getting all of their studio albums and some of their live albums ( Not all) I mean how many live albums does one need right? I would really love to get my hands on the live album they put out a couple of Years ago that was live at the Forum, it has Deacon Frye and Vince Gill with the Eagles, I really want that album I stream it quite a bit. Thank you for doing this video and giving the spot light to one of the best bands to be formed in the last 50yrs🤗 I hope all is well and God bless

I've only recently collected the Eagles back catalogue after only having Desperado and The Complete Greatest Hits the last sixteen years. Desperado is so drilled into my brain it's hard to hear the other albums in the same way. However I am particularly fond of the debut as it is a pure sound. In third place One Of These Nights primarily for the singles but especially for Journey Of The Sorcerer. The Long Run seemed to make more of an impact on me than Hotel California as the latter had a lot of its tracks spread across the last compilation. Which puts On The Border at the bottom of the classics. I find it hard to rank Long Road Out Of Eden as it is too far long after the other six but good in its own right. For the live albums I enjoyed the Millennium Concert the best followed by the 2018 Forum show. I think cos Hell Freezes Over isn't a complete live experience I would place it bottom with Eagles Live and Forum 76 at three and four respectively. If I were to rank the compilations I would most probably put the originals at one and two. Complete Greatest Hits at three and Collected Works at four.

Nice video Rob. Glad you explained the reasoning for the order. Also nice job on the live lps as well. Eagles are my favorite band and have thought about doing a ranking video, but by net week my order would change. Any order of the first six would do for me. I agree "...Eden" should be last. It never grabbed ahold of me like the others did. yes...Henley can be such a nut head. As the song said " get over it" already Don H.
