Saw their "Hell Freezes Over" tour. (Called that because the band broke up and they said hell would freeze over before they ever got together again) They were SO INCREDIBLE! So glad I saw them before we lost Glenn Frey! So many great songs in their catalogue of work!!

Don Felder (double guitar) and Joe Walsh are two of the best rock guitarists in rock history. Randy Misner on the base is often overlooked but he is germane to the whole sound. Don Henley on drums and vocals and Glen Frye wrote the lyrics and Don Felder wrote the music. Glen Frye is the other vocalist. His song TAKE IT EASY (you really need to react to that) is the other anthem of the band. Their GREATEST HITS album is the best-selling album of all time outselling Michael Jackson's THRILLER several years back. SEVEN BRIDGES ROAD is almost the standard for a Cappella group of singers.

The reason the guitar is two-in-one is that he wants two completely different sounds and doesn't want to run around changing guitars. at the beginning you hear a high pitched ringy sound. that comes from the "top" guitar part. it's a twelve-stringed guitar. Most all electric guitars in rock are 6-stringed. But a 12 string gives the sound he wanted in the beginning verses. During the chorus, simply switches to the other neck. There you have it. BTW, Glenn Frye, the guy in the black t-shirt is playing a 12-string acoustic guitar. It also gives a ringy, chimey sound. One more thing: two other drummers who did a lot of lead singing: Roger Taylor of Queen and Levon Helm of The Band.

Soon after this, Timothy B. Schmidt would arrive as the bass player, adding yet another excellent songwriter to the group. I don't think any other band had 4-5-6 repeatedly successful songwriters.

The 1994 "Hell Freezes Over" concert includes utterly fantastic versions of so many of their best hits, including Hotel California with an extended acoustic intro. An Eagles song that isn't on that concert, but is one of my absolute favorites in their whole catalog, is "One Of These Nights" I hope you'll do that one! There's lots of other good ones too :)

This is one explanation of the song Hotel California.. This song is about the [Halfway House] or rehabilitation center of the rich and famous drug and alcohol abusers known as the [Hotel California]. The hotel is for the rich and famous drug and alcohol abusers. "And I was thinking to myself [this could be heaven or this could be hell]." This refers to what he will be subjecting himself to during the very painful withdrawal process. And the hours-long epileptic-like seizures his body will be going through to rid the body of its drugs and alcohol in his system. "Her mind was Tiffany twisted she got the Mercedes Benz. She has lots of pretty pretty boys she calls friends." Tiffany's is world-famous for its fine and very expensive jewelry. She is wealthy with very expensive taste in cars and jewelry. And her friends are actors, models and rich kids. "How they danced in the courtyard Sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember Some dance to forget." This refers to the painful and gut-wrenching withdrawal process one must go through to rid themselves of the drugs and alcohol they have in their system. "So I called out the captain "please bring me my wine" we haven't had that spirit here since 1969." Refers to the Woodstock era of "Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll." "And still those voices are calling from far away wake you up in the middle of the night just to hear them say... Welcome to the Hotel California what a lovely place what a lovely face. Plenty of room in the Hotel California. They living it at the hotel California what a nice surprise bring your alibis." In every halfway house or rehabilitation center. The staff along with past drug and alcohol abusers who are counselors and to are part of the staff...Always welcome you with open arms anytime day or night. "What a nice surprise bring your alibis." This refers to the many excuses the abusers will give to the staff. As to the many reasons why they became addicts. "Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice. And she said we are all just prisoners here, of our own device, and in the master's chambers they gathered for their feast they stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast." Last thing I remember I was running for the door I had to find the passage back to the place I was before. Relax said the night man we are programmed to receive you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave!" Mirrors on the ceiling refers to the big room where all the addicts gather to receive their drug substitutes to ween them off of the hard drugs. Pink champagne on ice refers to the drug substitute 'Methadone" which is a liquid and is pink in color. The drug and alcohol addicts are prisoners of their own self-destruction. And they themselves are to blame for letting themselves become drug and alcohol abusers. The Beast is the "Drug and Alcohol Addiction" an addict will have to live with for the rest of their lives. The addict will never be rid of the addiction. It will be a constant battle for the rest of their lives to live drug and alcohol-free. You can check out anytime you like but you can never leave refers to "Once an addict always an addict!"

Double neck guitar, they also have triple neck guitars. Guitarist will use them if they are changing up tones in the same song or just to keep from having to change guitars so often during a concert because of having fifty guitars all tuned differently. The solo at the end of this is pure genius. Felder and Walsh were brilliant together!!!

I figure I'd better check this one out before YT blocks it. The Eagles are notorious for blocking reactions to their songs and it's a crying shame because they dropped a lot of classic songs - "Take It Easy", "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid in Town" etc. etc. This song was inescapable in the late 70's. Everywhere you went where people were gathered together you would hear it playing somewhere nearby.

It’s a great song to begin with, but to see him so happy every time he hit those high notes, I have read he had not a lot of confidence in his voice and every concert, it’s great to see! Beautiful song! Probably time with my favorite is this, take it to the limit and desperado, another Don Henley singing on the drums drums

Take It to the Limit is my favorite Eagles song. Except for Already Gone and Hotel California, haha.

Double guitars have been around since at least the '60s, and Ringo Starr, the Beatles drummer, drummed and sang at the same time.

Firstly, RIP to Glenn Frey. He's sadly missed. The Eagles are one of the best groups to come out of the 70s! Haze, I really recommend checking out Mr Joe Walsh,(the lead guitarist with the bandana on). His solo work is fire. "Life's been good to me" and"Rocky Mountain Way". Also, Don Henley, drummer. Solo work "Boys of Summer". Thanks

An often overlooked album is “On The Border”. It was released before Hotel and is also great! Already Gone - James Dean - Midnight Flyer ( the great Randy Meisner on vocals ) - Best Of My Love - On The Border - A Good Day In Hell and every other song on the album! The Eagles are notorious for infighting and basically hated each other. They still won’t let Don Felder the guitarist who wrote the music to Hotel California back in the band. There was a documentary produced a few years ago about the Eagles that is a must see. Glen Frey and Don Felder almost came to blows - on stage!! I enjoy your reactions ... keep it up!

HazeBruv, Everybody in this band is a more than competent lead singer and harmony singer too. Not just the drummer. You should feature more of their songs on your channel.

Another song you reacted to but need to do the live performance is Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven 1973 in Madison Square Garden. Please make it happen

Other great drummers who sing live: Roger Taylor (Queen), Karen Carpenter (the Carpenters), and of course Phil Collins. BTW Eagles began as Linda Ronstadt's backup band, and she helped them get started by covering "Desperado".

I have always loved the eagles. My all time favorite song of there's is I can't tell you why. It is so amazing. And man when Vince Gill covered that song it was so beautiful. Only he could have covered that song.
