Justin wasn’t in a position to help Clay through his mental health. It was Clay's fight,and he survived in the end. Justin should've focused on his sobriety. More importantly he shouldn’t have skipped medical tests that could've revealed he has got HIV much earlier thus he could be cured.

The fact he tried to commit suicide twice: 1st time with Tony after listening to his tape when he wanted to jump over that hill and 2nd time when he tried to kill Bryce outside his house then he put the gun to his own head but Justin stopped him. Just imagine if Tony or Justin wasn't there.
