I took a break from my friends so I could hyper focus on my success. That was almost 4 years ago now. I could never picture going back to be honest. Too much changes. You become a totally Different person, that’s why you change friends. You’ll have different interests for the most part. Example, millionaires aren’t getting hammered every weekend and partying. We’re working on the weekends lol. That’s a big reason you’ll lose friends. Most friends are party friends I found.

The best thing to do once your become a millionaire never show off… cause the fact is as soon as you become one you will even loose family members. People are naturally afraid of other peoples success and what they will do with that power since money is power.

When I was living in a compound house (in Africa), I did not even like to have my curtains unveiled or opened for people to see what's within my room (rented). Even now that I live in a big house, I do not allow people (anyone at all) to just come into the house. There are some things like cars that you cannot simply hide no matter what you do. There are products of success you cannot hide just like pregnancy but as much as possible, try not to flaunt.

You can lose friends if you get married or divorced, get healthier, change hobbies, politics, religion, location, education, class, culture, customs and money. The biggest factor I've seen in super-successful people is they are too consumed with accomplishing more that they can't sit still and just have a normal conversation. Their time is too valuable, or so they think, and they know they could be doing 10 other things or spending the same time talking to more important people or people who could be doing more for them. I've been very successful myself, but I stay grounded and talk to everyone from janitors to senior execs because I don't want to become the kind of person who has no patience for people and can't pay attention in conversations in which I'm not getting something in return.

We had a freeze in the Houston area in February of 2021 and a lot of pipes busted on my rental properties. People were getting angry at me since I was able to get plumbing parts, when they were not able to. I used an airfreight company to ship the parts to me overnight and hired a buyer in a distant city. The parts cost me 10 times as much. People were telling me I should have waited in line like everybody else. My priority was to get my tenants back in there homes and paying rent. One house it took me a month to get all the plumbing parts, where other people had to wait several months. I didn't become a millionaire by waiting in line like everyone else!

I am not a super wealthy, but when I started earning more than the average, afford more expensive cars, and luxury stuff, I started to realize why rich folks lose friends: 1) People will always come to you to borrow money, and you'll soon learn that only a fraction of them will pay. You'll start distancing yourself from people who keeps asking to borrow money. 2) People will think that you have an obligation to help them financially because you the one doing better. The problem is that you cannot help everyone and you should not, and people will hate you for that and distance themselves and start backstabbing you.

The reason Millionaires lose friends is pretty obvious: when your new millionaire lifestyle is so vastly different than someone who lives paycheck-to-paycheck there is going to be a huge disconnect and probably some resentment on the part of the poorer friend - that’s just human nature to a certain extent. The best thing to do IMO if you are fortunate enough to be well off financially is to contribute generously to worthy charitable causes. I have always admired people who are wealthy who also try and help people who are less fortunate. And….the opposite is true: I have no respect for wealthy people who hoard their wealth and aren’t charitable.
@kentharris7427
@kentharris7427 3 жыл бұрын
True statement. My family gives to several charitable organizations, plus we volunteer our time. My wife and I started from scratch building wealth and we didn't forget where we came from. My first apartment was an efficiency at $150 per month and I made $6.50 per hour. I put $100 down and started investing $20 per month at a national investment company, and evetime I made more money I would invest more.

Donating to charities is a strategy to reduce taxable income for those in the highest tax brackets, and is often a direct form of money laundering if the donor owns a stake in the charity itself. You're referring to virtue signaling, which helps to reduce resentment from the perspective of the poorer person as they perceive some form of potential indirect benefit and justification of the rich person's wealth. Famously wealthy people donate immensely to worthy causes, yet still face violent public backlash simply from being wealthy.

This is dishonest and should not be spread. This is the kind of thinking why a lot humans (people) cannot trust each other and only end up "using" one another. If you've dealt with children before, this is the clearest example of how false and misleading your statement is. Are children who are "friends" just using one another? There are people who are genuinely friends, and some of these children whose friendship started in their childhood days grow up into old age with it.

A lot of these apply to my situation. I work WORK work WORK. People ask me why I work so hard...(because I want to be wealthy). I sometimes feel like I am in a bubble unaffected by the price of things. I've told people this sometimes I feel like I'm in a bubble (regarding the economy and job situation). I've acquired assets. Co workers tell me they think I'm rich (they might be on to something). I am alone a lot. I've traveled the world over alone. When I do meet someone new I have the same thoughts as do they like me or do they want money? I'm not a millionaire...yet, but I'm sure I will cross that threshold.

you and i have much in common. 1.I, too, feel a strange detachment from the financial stress of the people around me. i'm only just now starting to notice. One of my friends gets irked at our local gym for raising their monthly price. He brings it up too often. It's my gym, too, but i dont notice nor care about the price hike. I have to nod and act like i'm concerned. "Bubble" is the right word. 2.I have a few close friends that know I'm not poor, but they think we earn the same...which is fine by me. As far as being alone....someone in the comments above said it best "friends are one of the biggest disappointments in life." (and I'd add family) But i think there's something else there: when you dont NEED people, you can see them clearly for who they are in relation to you. That changes your viewpoint.

Not entirely true.To make more than millions there is always that 2% factor called comfortable circumstances.Simplest example you're Bill Gates knowing everything about basic computers in the 70s and everyone else is the elephant in the room thinking math logic cannot be expressed digitally.You present them your idea and then you exploit the "comfortable circumstance" of them being uneducated in Information Technology by overcharging every computer system you can build and sell.And boom you already have a growing buisness.Today that would not be much harder when it comes to massively educated people but not everyone is the elephant in the room so comfortable circumstances 2% is added to the "be at top of the competition" percentage ,therefore things are harder which explains why it is harder to be a milionaire.Still though , it ain't impossible but you get my point.It just happens to be that your surroundings also play a role in your career , it will not judge most of your career's course but somehow it may influence it.Have a good day.🙂

Its not just money millions. Same thing happens when you become exceptional in something- this could be authority in your field (independent of money), the most beautiful physically (independent of money) etc. When you become the best in something, have superior knowledge and intelligence, beauty etc...you start losing friends. Look at really beautiful women for example - most are lonely...same with those with very levels of intelligence, or those who get the best projects etc.. why? Similar reasons as mentioned in this video.

Many friendships are superficial, macro with very little ethical depth of character. Basically bumping along. I've had friends who were or from the millionaire status. They are lowkey. Not flashy. Respectful and with good manners and intentions. They sought me out and together our friendships evolved. It turns out we were all raised with similar values. Never crude nor vulgar.
