Thanks for the video. Moved awhile back and had my chair fully disassembled. This helped get it back together

Thanks. Very helpful. I did find however that installing the cushions first made it easier to snap the cushions in place. It wasn't a problem joining the seat back to the seat bottom with the cushions in place.

It's my understanding that this chair cost between 8 and 10 thousand dollars. Is that correct?
@mellocello187Ай бұрын
There are clones now (knock-offs) which you assemble yourself. I would think an original would come assembled. Not sure what he’s got here.
@Sams9114 жыл бұрын
wait, so when you order one, it doesn't come assembled? or did you do this to re-finish the char?

LOL. this was clearly a refinished chair. they come assembled

Hi thanks great to see how this is done . I have an original chair , but it's leaning a bit to one side , for my mother always sat or leaned to one side . Is there something that comes to mind how to make it stable ?? I;m also missing two buttons . Apart fro this it looks like new , but it cost a fortune when she bought it and I love it .

You can still buy used 5-leg bases for the 670 model chairs (assuming the plywood shell is not warped or broken. An upholsterer can locate two buttons (original or replica), and sew them into the cushion. You can also polish the tops of the brushed aluminum legs to get them clean & shiny.

Do you still make them?
@Dixler6833 жыл бұрын
If you refurbished the hardware and plywood why leave the old, worn, thin leather? I prefer high quality heavy vinyl over thin wrinkled leather. Just me, 100% authentic is not so important if you do not plan on reselling.
@zeta423 жыл бұрын
The shock mounts on the seat shell are all wrong. Either this is not a real HM Eames or it has been refurbished by a 2nd hand shop and not by HM, which will kill the value of the chair.

Legs are also not the right kind I think. Also the pillow clips look very different

I own a genuine Herman Miller 670/671. Notice the two arm cushions and their brackets: the two metal bracket holes for the cushion screws, and the two mounting holes on the inner surface of the cushions...are at an angle. It was my understanding that a special type of ball/hex key driver (used by the Herman Miller Company) was needed to maneuver the special armrest screws properly into the holes and tighten them (so as not to ruin the heads of the screws)...NOT using a regular straight Phillips screwdriver for this operation. Can somebody else please confirm my observation. And yes, the chair does come in a box partially unassembled, the dealer (or the customer) has to finish it.

The chair in this video doesn't look like a Eames lounge chair. Don't follow this guide.

I have just disassembled my late 1970s Herman Miller Eames Chair. This looks exactly like mine. I used the same two Craftsman Phillips screwdrivers. This is one of the best reassembly videos I have seen.

I would like my eames backrest to be farther back, do you know of a mod to do this??
@rjk55593 жыл бұрын
I wanted to do this too but ended up just replacing the foam in the top cushion with a thinner and softer density foam which had the same effect.
@OrangeGeemer3 жыл бұрын
@@rjk5559 thanks, I will try that. So far I've just been using a small memory foam pillow on top of the lumbar cushion, feels good enough.

I'm familiar with the chair and I think an original one wouldn't come unassembled considering it costs $5000+.
@CASTSTONE6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, probably the entire chair in spare parts. But I checked some prices and even the aftermarket spare parts are extremely expensive. 789 euro is a great price even if it's not real leather.

The chair in that video is a plycraft knockoff of the Eames lounge chair. They are still fairly sought after but it isn't the same as this chair

The chair comes fully assembled and the delivery people unbox it and set it up in your house.
