I bought a 2 meter tall tree, about $180, in january and my goddamn four cats ignored it and kept scratching my furniture. Between a cat-bed and a cat-scratcher, the cats definitely prefer the cat-scratcher. If you can put the bed IN the cat-scratcher, he will like both. But the bed alone, they don't want that, they want the full tower for themselves to feel superior in every way.

This is AWESOME!!!!!! I can't love this enough. Best cat tree/tower video I've seen yet! I may do something similar but need to find an alternative for wood because it's sooooo expensive these days. Edit 1: What staple gun are you using and does it work with 3/4" plywood or would a brad nailer be better for going through that thick of plywood? (Sorry. New to woodworking.) Edit 2: Oooooh, I wonder what your pretty kitty would do with toys hanging down from different spots on the tree?
@EamonWalshDIY3 жыл бұрын
Hi Heather, thank you very much! To fit the fleece I used an electric staple gun like this: www.screwfix.ie/p/titan-ttb515stp-15mm-second-fix-electric-nail-gun-stapler-240v/99925 and it worked perfectly on the plywood. I did use a brad nailer to help secure the wood into the tubes but some screws would also work. Some hanging toys would be a great addition, they would just need to be secured very well! If I was doing it again I would do something different with the box section in the middle. When she younger and smaller she used it but now she has gotten older she hardly ever uses it.
@CarolinaGirlCreationZ3 жыл бұрын
@@EamonWalshDIY Awesome, except that she's all "grown up now" and doesn't use it. LOLOL!! My dang cat doesn't drink enough water and I saw a video where cats like running water so I bought a fancy "faucet" type waterer and that dork has NEVER used it. It's great to that you built this but I just have to point out for everyone that might read this, please remember that a main function of a cat tree is to give you pet exercise of the kind they would get if they were in the wild. Like jumping high or far, climbing up steep slopes or even vertical rope covered poles. You don't need to make it so easy for them unless they are old or infirm. Your pet will be much healthier if they get the kind of exercise nature intended. That said, if your pet hasn't had such opportunity before, start them slowly and increase the distance or slope.

I think that's the best cat tree I've ever seen. I wasn't sure about the holey box with balls at first. I thought the cat needed to see them or something. But I was proved completely wrong. Your cat sure loved to climb & hang with his claws on it. Definitely the best I've seen & I bet it's easy to repair if some of it gets too torn up over time. It doesn't look too hard to make either. Who knows maybe I'll try it one day. Although I wouldn't be able to walk past it because my little turd would fly out of nowhere to land on my shoulders.
