I didn't hear it said, but the high quality blue/red buds, by the product graphic, are the Pro Fit Series from ProEars. They also make the best electronic amplified over ear protection out there.

I wear foam plugs and muffs that cover the whole ear. Harmful volume levels can cause damage from an exposed area behind the ear.

I have a set of Otto Noizebarrier plugs and use the foam Comply pro tips with them. My favorite. Work gut them for me a few years back. They were $380 then. Now they go for about $430. Battery lasts all day and they have a water tight battery equipped charging case. My other set are the custom molded Soundgear Phantoms. This go for about $1500. Fed Bc/bs covered the entire price for those. They offer all day battery and all day comfort. I think the Otto’s with the pro foam tips offer slightly better protection. But they can get uncomfortable after a few hours. I don’t ever seeing myself going back to muffs, unless I’m stuck shooting indoors.

Very timely! Been using muffs with foamies, but have noticed the effect of the seal around eye pro occasionally. Had been shopping and the input provided here couldn't have come at a better time! Thanks for another quality video!

I use electronic ear pro but one thing I do is put a couple of pairs of foamies in all of my AR pistol grips in the event I'm at the range and forgot my primary ear pro OR in the event that I have to use one of those rifles in a self defense/home defense scenario where I wouldn't be able to get my electronic ear pro on, I probably won't be able to get a chance to use the foamies either but MAYBE I will and it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. PLUS another benefit of putting 1-2 pairs of foamies in the storage compartment of my AR pistol grip is that it stops the rattle from the tools I keep in the same grip (I have a tool for almost all of my optics and I keep that tool in the grip compartment of the AR the optic is on). Keeping that tool in there and putting foamies in there has come in handy for me before. I recommend doing this.

Big fan of the 3M Peltor In-Ear hearing protection. They offer a MUCH cheaper option without battery in the case here. Got mine for less than 200€ including the full selection of tips. Goes by the product name „ 3M Peltor EEP-100 EU OR Hunting“ here. I got it on sale but normal price is around 250€ which is almost 1/3 the price quoted in the video.

I like the Surefire Defender inserts. The plastic frame helps keep the insert in the ears with different sizes to choose from There are the baffle or foam styles as well. I will use just that alone when shooting handguns by myself where I don't have to communicate with others, although they are not bad to talk with others. I double up with the Defenders and electronic ear muffs when shooting rifles. I have a small head so I have added foam padding to the arch to raise up where the muffs sit on my ears. That helps to keep the stock from moving the muffs off my ears. B

3M peltor Tep 200. Best damn ear pro there is. I’ve been through week long classes at over 10 hrs a day and never ran out of juice. They work better than my high end ($300) sound cancelling ear muffs. The only caveat is that they are a bit expensive. You can get the neck loop and connect them to any commas device.

I have trouble getting foamies to stay in, which makes me hesitant to think about inserts However there's no doubt they would be much more convenient if I was shooting rifles on a regular basis I generally put 50 rounds down range once a week, almost exclusively with handguns, on an outdoor range where I'm the only person shooting So normally muffs are my thing The electronic ones are much better for taking classes though

Thanks Myles. These days you can get good electric in ear protection for around $300 which have blue tooth connection, electronic suppression of loud outside noises, electronic enhancement of sounds below a certain level, and comfortable to wear. All kidding about poor audio of the video aside (see comments below), protecting your ears and eyes should be your no. 1 priority.

Good overview of hearing protection. I used to just use the basic harbor freight headphone protection and sometimes also use the foam inserts since they were all cheap. Then I got some great deals on some walker headphones with the volume to hear around you and those are fantastic.

Custom inserts are NOT expensive like he’s saying. Get passive pass through custom inserts. They are like $250. If through ENT with insurance can come down to like $80. The pass through kind still give amazing protection and let you hear low decibel speaking voices … just you don’t get superhuman hearing that electronic gives. But you save $800.

@onpsxmember Жыл бұрын
The audio is far below your usual quality. If you talk about good decibel ratings, mention what you consider a good rating and what frequency range high, mid or low should be focused on indoors or outdoors. With the foamies, the biggest issue that they're often not correctly inserted.

Checking the NRR is important. Most people like the fancy electronic ears (including me) but the highest NRR I’ve seen with them is around 27. The cheap ones I got from Amazon are rated at 37 so I would say it was a better investment. And ALWAYS double up no matter what you’re using.
